Chef Mickey's

I don't think I can help you, since I've never been but my DS10 really wanted to go there, so we'll see for ourselves very soon what all the hoopla is about. I mean, c'mon, can it really be that bad??? I'm just going to go in with no (or low) expectations and with my attitude in check. It'll be fun, I'm sure; as long as my guys enjoy it and I think they will! :goodvibes

Chef Mickey's is great - it's our favorite 1st night dinner! :) It has all the main characters - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, and Donald Duck, all dressed up in "chef" clothing. It's a great way to insure seeing the main characters without a line, and really gets you in the disney mood. Food is your standard buffet - kids items such as chicken fingers, pizza, and mac & cheese. Other items include soup, salad bar, potatoes, mickey raviolis, vegetables, roasted chicken, and a carving station with turkey and roast beef. There's a couple other items I can't remember! They also have a dessert station with soft serve ice cream and all the fixings, and other small desserts.

If you can get a reservation, I think it's worth going to!! :thumbsup2

Chef Mickey's is a MUST DO for our arrival night. We do it every trip. We have never had a bad experience. The food is good with a large selection. Their mashed potatoes are to-die-for! They have a kiddie section on the buffet too, if you have pickie eaters. My kids, thank goodness, prefer adult food and love this buffet. The desserts are a large selection and the make your own Sundae bar is always a hit. You can't beat the character interaction (Mickey. Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto).

We will be trying Breakfast there for the first time on this trip (along with our arrival night dinner) and I am sure that I won't be disappointed.

We went labour day for supper and it was great. We will do it again next year. I was our favorite resturant. My kids also loved the polynesian breakfast. My kids are DS9, DS7 and DD5. We will do that again too

We did breakfast there in Sept. 08. the food was fine and it was nice to see the main characters at one time even if they were very rushed.

But I hated how close the tables were together. We were off in the side room which may make a difference in spacing.

One man sitting behind me hit me in the head with his backpack several times after he got stuff out of it and when I got up to get a food refill, I got back to the my table to find he had pushed out his chair so far that I couldn't pull out my chair to sit down.
When I asked him to please move his chair so I could sit down, he said he needed the space. I looked at him and told him that yes, the tables were too close together but I was entitled to sit at the table I was assigned and his wife then told him to move forward so he did.

When the kids did the napkin twirl above their heads, I felt like I was going to get hit in the face with them because everyone was so close.

Because of the space issue, I have no interest in booking that restaurant for my family ever again.

It is what it is ! My kids are both going back with me in Jan for the 1st time in years. They are 21 and 23 and they remember it from when they were little . They wanted me to book it again of course. We have taken my Neice and Nephew there every year and they also love it .
It is a buffet no worse or better then any other . You are going there to to see Chef Mickey : ) If you want fine dinning you must go up a few floors and eat at California Grill . We do that also and let me tell you our last trip there wished we had just stopped on the floor with Chef Mickeys

We start every WDW with dinner at Chef Mickey's and end every trip with breakfast there as well. We are huge fans of CM!

I agree with Mad4Mickey - It is what it is!

Our kids LOVE it and would be heartbroken if we didn't go every time we are at WDW, so we suffer through it.

For us, it is always breakfast on the day that we leave, so it is a nice send off with Mickey and the gang.

We have a 2:10 reservation on our arrival day. I just read somewhere that there are no characters at lunch. Can anyone confirm this? Since we are not planning to go to the parks the first day, I really wanted my kids to get their first taste of the characters! :confused3

We loved dinner here and it has become a must-do for us. I love the parmesan mashed potatoes.

We love Chef Mickey's. It's a must for us every trip; we usually try to get an ADR for our first night there. It's a great way to start off the trip.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I didn't like CM at all and have NO desire to go back. We had a table near the buffet. It was convenient for getting food but I don't think it was a good spot for having fun. We were largely ignored (by characters and servers). I also thought the food was a huge disappointment - not very many choices and what was there wasn't very appetizing at all. I do not think I have particularly high standards for this type of meal, but it was still a big letdown.

If I recall correctly, we went duing lunch when they opened it up during free dining (in Sep 2007). Yes the characters were all there (but the only one who paid any real attention to us was Minnie, who was actually very sweet). Maybe they have more food options at dinner??? Anyway, we won't be going back to find out. We're getting our "Mickey meal" at Donald's Safari Breakfast this time.

We really enjoyed dinner there in 2008, but didn't like breakfast there this year. Just seemed a different atmoshere and the food wasn't nearly as good in our opinion. I have some pictures in my reviews below if you want to have a look!

My family and I have had dinner there a few times and we thought it was very good. Plus the character interaction was great, so I would recommend it.
