We were thinking of doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast when we go June
13-19th. There will be three adults, a 13 yr old boy and a 10 yr old girl.

We are flying this time so we won't have access to a car. What I was wondering is if it would be worth the time it would take getting to and from CM's using Disney transporation? (We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside.) Or would choosing another character meal in one of the parks be a better option?

We would probably do CM's on the day we plan to chill at the hotel-- swim for the kids, rest for the adults and maybe have a late go at one of the parks.

All opinions would be appreciated. I need to make ADRs asap but I am having a hard time pinning down my party to make any firm plans. The only thing they have decided on for certain is DHS on the Sunday after we arrive because it will be the last day of Star Wars weekend and the 13 yr old is a SW fan.

Thanks in advance. :)

We liked Chef Mickey's and we also had a great time with the new CB at Tusker House.

to get to the Contemporary you'd have to bus it to MK and walk or take the boat to DTD and then bus it so you'd need a later ADR time. TH is busing it to AK. Both offer better food over the standard fare.

So i'd vote for the park you want to attend afterwards. But if its a casual pool day i'm not sure it's worth the trip.

Just FYI the other buffet that is very nice but has characters for much younger is the Chrystal Palace IMO

We are doing Chef Mickey's when we go in May. We've never been before, but because it is so close to MK, I think it would be just as accessible as actually being in the park.

We enjoyed Chef Mickey's when my boys were young. The place is cool with the monorail, etc. Also, you could take the bus to MK and then get on the monrail to the CR if you didn't want to walk.

We always go to the character breakfast in AK at Dinoland. It is much smaller than Chef Mickey's and the characters stop at each table. The breakfast buffet is also very good.

We went to CM last May. My boys were 7, 9 & 14. I was a little worried that my 14 yr old would think it was dumb but when the characters stopped by I noticed that they interact w/the different ages all together different. They were taking the kid's baseball hats and just bugging them. They kids had a blast, laughing the whole time.

I would take the bus to MK and then get on the monorail to the resort. We always do the breakfast on our "off" days. This way there isn't any rushing around, doesn't matter when we get back to the hotel.

My fiancee and I (both mid-20's) had a blast at CM's this past january. There were some very memorable food choices (MMM....cheesy potatoes) and the character interactions were EXCELLENT.

We are doing CM on a non touring day too. I don't like to feel pressure to eat breakfast and still get to the parks nice and early. I think it is well worth the time it takes to get over there, and it has something for everyone IMO even teen-agers :goodvibes Make your reservation now, and then you can cancel if you need to. but reservations can be hard to come by if you wait.

CM has been one of the exceptions to the 90 day rule and has been able to be booked through June 19th at 180 days out. I have had mine since the beginning of December. Don't wait, call. Like PP said, you can always cancel.

Good Luck! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the great replys. I think I will go ahead and book a late breakfast. I think the kids would both enjoy it.

Now to figure out what our "off" day is going to be. :lmao:

I'm an uber planner and the family I am going with is a seat of your pants kind of group. I have been harping for weeks about the need to plan out our days. It looks like I'm just going to have to make the plans and hope they go along with them.

Thanks again. All the feedback is appreciated.

That is only true if you are arriving before June 19th. I just called to confirm this because I was afraid I had "missed the boat". We arrive on the 23rd and they told me I could only do 90 days out, which would be March 25th. Sorry, I saw the OP is going in May, before June.

If you are going June 13-19, then you should already be within your 90 day window (90 days from today (March23) is June 21). I would call today, especially since you are going in the busy month of June. Since you may already have trouble getting a table, I will tell you a little tip that I learned from a CM. If they tell you they don't have a table for 5, ask for a table for 6. I tried on my 90 day mark to get 1900 Park Faire for dinner and the only time they had for a table of 5 was the latest time of the evening which would be too late for my 3 year old. The CM told me (with a very suggestive tone in her voice) if you had 6 people you could have your pick of pretty much any time the entire evening. So I said, well I think I will add a child, and she happily said "I'll set you up for the exact time you preferred".

Thanks for the good tip. I'll remember that.

I actually got the crew to call a planning meeting for this evening, so if all goes well I should be able to make the ADRs tomorrow! That is if I can get them to make decisions.

Thanks for the help. :)

:confused3??? These directions ???:confused3. Is all you have to do to get from any resort to the Contemporary is take a bus to the Magic Kingdom, get off the bus and walk over to the Contemporary resort--it's an easy 5, maybe 10 minute walk if you're slow. The Magic Kingdom busses turn right in front of the Contemporary, and then drop you off in view of the hotel. There's no boat or further bus needed to get to the Contemporary from the Magic Kingdom.

Agreed. We went to Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast on our trip in October. We caught a bus from ASSp to MK, then took the monorail to the Contemporary. We could have walked from MK to the Cont, but my boys wanted to take a ride on the "skytrain" :rotfl2:

I just tried to get a reservation for Chef Mickey's for May 2nd through the 7th and was unable too. All booked up! CALL NOW!

I don't think CM would be that hard to get to. All you have to do is take a bus to MK and get on a monorail. :confused3 I really don't think it would be that much out of the way, and it always seems like everyone is having so much fun in there.

It turned out to be very easy to get to - just a bus from the resort, then a quick monorail ride to the CR (could have walked, but didn't). We had a great breakfast there - great characters, decent food - lots of fun! :goodvibes
