First trip to disney with kids (11, 5, & 2). We have several character meals already. I have an adr for Chef Mickey's but my dh had read some negaitive reviews about it. We decided to drop CM for Cape May b/c of seafood (which we love). I was thinking that we can see the character thru out the parks. What do you guys think?

But dinner is not a character meal.

Sorry, I should not be allowed to look at the internet before 6 AM on a school day. You can definitely see them throughout the parks. I do like the character meals though just for the plain and simple fact that it seems a little more of a sure thing. I've never been skipped at a character meal but I have been the next person in line when the character goes away and been told that they're not coming back.

Cape May dinner is much, much better than Chef Mickey's imo!! We did CM's dinner 2 yrs ago & it's the worst buffet we've ever done...will never return. On the other hand, we did Cape May Clambake last yr. for the 1st time & will return in August. A little different than the other buffets with the additional seafood offerings :)

I've done both - and I will never go back to CM - ugh! The food was barely edible. The CMCB was wonderful, I loved everything I tried, and the food was fresh & hot. You will have plenty of opportunities to see characters in the parks, don't worry!

Chef Mickeys dinner is just nasty...we have been to Cape May 8 times or so and each time the place is amazing! We are headed back in 17 days and that is a sure bet for us!

we've done both many times and we love CM's buffet and the characters are great! cape may has the clams and mussels and the other food is really good too, i would have to do both.

Ditto! Could'nt bring myself to keep that Chef Mickey's ressie this past Nov.!!!!!;)

We have never been to CM for dinner, but love it for breakfast. As far as CMCB goes, we went last visit and probably wouldn't go again.

First, bus ride from SSR to Y&BC was more than 1 1/2 hours. Got from SSR to DTD in 5 minutes. The rest of the ride was waiting for bus in DTD and all the stops on the way.

Then they put the 5 of us in a booth for 4, with one of us sitting on a chair on the end. Everyone who walked by bumped him and he had to get up for the two of us on that end of the table to get out of our seats.

Last, the signature fish of the night was salmon, which we don't eat. I am sure it was good, but if you don't eat that type of fish and don't want to fill up on muscles the buffet becomes limited.

Now I realize the busing and fact that we don't eat salmon is not their fault, but it did contribute to a very mediocre time.
