Chef Mickey's - is the food much better than Crystal Palace?

Before this past August, I would have said, 'Sure, go ahead and try Chef Mickey's.' Not anymore. We traditionaly have our first meal there. Our dinner there last month was awful. And I never thought I would say that. Even dd agrees. Not sure what it was...the food choices have gotten fewer, they don't seem to be replenished as quickly, so you're literally scraping the bottom of the pan. The characters seemed really rushed this time around..barely enough time for a hello, signature and off they go.
We have had great experiences at Crystal Palace...never a bad one to date. In fact, I gave some friends of ours the places I thought they should book for meals when they were there in mid-August. They ate at Chef Mickey's as well as Crystal Palace. They all, at least the 5 adults, didn't care for CM's but loved Crystal Palace.

I agree with you 100%. This is the same thing that we thought when we were there in June, and I thought I would never say thiat either. I have always loved Chef Mickey's, and I was totally disappointed when I was there. I could not even hardly eat the food.

Crystal Palace, on the otherhand, was rocking. The food was good, and the characters came around numerous times to greet my daughter.

I really wish they would get it together at Chef Mickey's. I want the Chef Mickey's that was happening back in 1999 back again!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the food at CP is much better. I used to prefer CM though for atmosphere, but based on this morning, that's gone downhill. So my vote would definitely be for CP.

We CP. DW loves the fact that she can have made to order eggs at CP. We actually have two ADR's for our next trip in November.

We went for breakfast on Sept. 5th...characters were great, the food was horrible.

I think the food in both places is nothing to write home about. But, we have been to both and we do prefer the food at CP better than CM. We have been to both places at least twice each, and everytime we go back to CM, we say....we should've gone to CP.

I just returned from our trip on the 12th and have to say Chef Mickey's was our worst meal!!!! We did have dinner, so maybe the breakfast is better. I did however eat @ CP last year for lunch and LOVED it.

For dinner I would definently recommend CP over CM. For breakfast I would recommend CM. But CP wouldn't be a bad choice for breakfast either.

I have to go against the majority on this one for 2 reasons. At CP I had to basically BEG to get the characters to visit our table AFTER they had made the rounds to the entire room TWICE!!....We will never go back. Never had this problem at CM's. Also the desert bar at CM's was way better IMO. Other than that the food was basically the same. Just refuse to beg to be paid attention to when that's the whole point of the dinner. Oh, and it was my birthday! Had the button on and everything.

Thanks for the imput everyone. I always got the impression that CM was a "must eat" but it seems that things have changed. Definately won't be cancelling another ADR in favor of CM since I would be going for the food rather than Mickey!

We usually do both each time we go. However, I have been thinking of skipping CM in April08. We usually start at CM on our first night. I noticed the food was not as good the last time we were there (April07) The only reason I have not nixed it out of our plans is we have two young DDs and they love the characters. They also look forward to a spin on the monorail. It is the only place to dine with Mickey and Minnie without having to go into a park. We will probably try them one more time, but I think I would rather give Ohana a try on our first night instead.

We always do CP for breakfast on our MK day. We get in before opening and the food has always been very good.
