So we've never eaten at chef mickey's and we have adr's for my dd's 8th bday next month, but i just keep thinking this is a bad idea after how many people say how bad the food is.

Anyone have any other suggestions?? I wanted somewhere fun that was 1 ts and she really doesn't care for princesses, weird i know for a girl ( im sure once she's there she will love them... right now shes too cool to like them :cool1: )

We already have ADR's at the following places

Kona
Le Cellier
California Grille:love:
Whispering Canyon Cafe

ANY suggestions or positive experiences with chef mickeys dinner would be wonderful!

Thanks so much!

Ohana! It's in the Polynesian which is on the monorail line also. The food is really good and it's a fun place to eat. It's our favorite! We do it the first and last nights of our trips.
I went to Chef Mickey in 2006 and I wasn't impressed. Haven't been back since, and i'm not sure if I will be.

After many trips, we finally did Chef Mickey's for the 1st time this past Aug. & it was the worst meal of our trip. Any other buffet lunch/dinner we had done in the past was much better than this. I would recommend Crystal Palace with the Winnie the Pooh characters: breakfast, lunch, & dinner were all good. If you want to do Chef Mickey's, I would do the breakfast...it's much better than the dinner. That's what we are doing for our next trip, in addition to Crystal Palace for dinner.

We like Chef Mickey's. We ate there 2x in April for dinner. The food is not going to be as good as some Le Cellier or Cali Grille, but as a buffet we enjoyed it just fine, plus you get to see the Fab 5.

I agree that you will probably enjoy the food better at Ohana. It's not a character meal though, but is quite enjoyable with dancing and limbo, etc.

I have some video of both places in my Apr. video and some from Ohana in the Mother/Daughter.

I personally did not enjoy the food at Ohana's, but I'm world's pickiest eater. I would absolutely be willing to go there for my family tho, since they have never been. They Actually might enjoy it! I forgot about Ohana's!

The reason i picked Chef's was easily for the characters! Any other character dinner recommendations?

We LOVE Chef Mickey's. Ate there back in Dec. and it was very good.

Personally I say there are lovers and haters of every WDW restaurant. If you want to try it or think the food sounds good, go and see for yourself....it is the only way to really know.

Won't do chef mickeys again for a long while. It has been very dirty too busy and the food is just not great. But you do get to see thee top 5 characters. So I don't know if you've never been then give yourself a reason to dislike it. OOOORRR maybe try 50's primetime I like it lots and its fun..althought no characters lots of interaction and the food is good.

We did Chef Mickey's last year for DD's 6th birthday and we really enjoyed it. The food was okay but there was a very festive atmosphere - we thought it was a great spot for a birthday.

We will be at WDW for DS 4th birthday this fall and we will be returning to Chef Mickey's for his birthday dinner. The CR bakery can make some pretty special cakes as well!

We weren't too impressed w/CM for breakfast and even less so for dinner...we were at the first dinner seating and the rather skimpy selections already looked tired and if the air conditioner was any colder, penguins would have been underfoot - it was freezing. It is off our list!!!

I will say the characters are excellent, it does have a festive atmosphere and the ice cream bar was pretty good.

I also concur that Crystal Palace is excellent.

We love CM! It is a must do for us. I know you said that your daughter isn't into the princesses, but you might want to consider 1900 park fare. Cinderella is there with her stepsisters and they are sooo much fun.

I actually like Chef Mickey's! No, the food is not gourmet, but that is ok by me!

DD is 4 and she does not care for princesses either (she adores Pluto). So, we went to Chef Mickey's and had a blast! We plan on going in June as well.

I think you'll find it fun! Just don't expect gourmet and you'll be ok! ;)

we always do chef mickeys at least once every trip....the foods not the best you will get but this is one of those places where its not always about the food.the fun the kids have makes this a really great way to spend an hour and the fab five are at there best here. i remember once when we were there just as the fireworks started and you could see them from the window...mickey ran and got loads of the kids to follow him to the window so that they could watch and they were joined by goofy. they stayed until the firworks had ended so those kids will remember the night that they watched the fireworks with mickey. a great place

We do CM every trip, too. We love it. I think the food is good. The dessert bar is great. It's not a 5 star, but good. The characters are fun, fun, fun! I love watching the kids do the napkin dance with the characters! :) I think it's one of the best restaurants for character interaction.
