Chef Mickey - Better than Crystal Palace/1900 Park Fare?

I've been to both CM and CP for breakfast. Food is identical/nearly identical. One is not going to be a better food experience than the other. In comparing the last visit to each - I had better character interaction at CP, but better service from the waitstaff at CM. I can't say I think one has been more or less chaotic - but I do go with the attitude to tune that out before I walk in the door.

If you want interesting food at a character breakfast - you could try Tusker House. That has a few different things on it and if you like Boma, I suspect you will like that.

But in general - my main advice - go where you want to see the characters! That's what is important about a character meal.

I don't think you can predict which place is going to have the better environment/character interaction - I think that depends upon what time you are there, the mood among the cast members that day, etc. Sometimes - I've been up to a buffet line and everything seems to be almost old - the dregs in the pan - other times - everything seems piping hot and fresh - IN THE SAME MEAL. And perhaps your own parties mood for the day. Is everyone in a happy, patient mood undisturbed by chaos around them? Or did you all get up on the wrong side of the bed that day?

Go where you want to see the characters the most! Or - pick the CP when you can get a reservation before regular park opening so you can walk down Main Street while it's nearly deserted. That's the best time to go!

Sorry you did not enjoy CP -- it our favorite character breakfast (we've never had bad food, we've seen all characters in a timely fashion). We've never done 1900 PF at the recommendation of a good friend whose judgment I trust 100%. Chef Mickey's for breakfast is okay, but not nearly as good as CP in our opinion or Cape May. And it is 100 times more chaotic than CP ro Cape May.

I have to agree. We love CP for breakfast and have never been disappointed. The food was always hot and fresh tasting. We normally do a late breakfast, 10:30 or so, and by then the crowds have died down a little but the breakfast foods were still coming out of the kitchen. (By 11:15 they have started to bring out lunch desserts as they switch over to lunch so we got to sneak a few of those too. All delicious!) We are going in November and will have what is at least our 6th breakfast with Pooh.

We've never done 1900 but used to love CM. We went last December and the atmosphere was just too chaotic and rushed and the food not as good as before. We don't have it on the list next trip which surprises me but it was just not that good last time. The only character breakfast I've felt more rushed through was in the castle.

Chef Mickeys has the best buffet breakfast on property in my opinion. We have breakfast there the first morning of each trip. But I also love Crystal Palace. So perhaps my tastes are different than the original poster's tastes. I never thought it was chaotic at all. I thought it was a fun Disney atmosphere with great American food.

Just out of curiousity did you have breakfast or dinner there? We are going to do the EMH's on Aug 26 at the MK and are looking for dinner places. The only things we could get was CM and CP nearby that we would consider. I'm thinking the CP dinner will be way better but looking for more opinions on the dinners at these 2.

I had breakfast at CM's and it wasnt very good at all. I had dinner at CP and I thought it was pretty good!! I would go again in a heartbeat. They have a pretty good selection.

We have had dinner at CP a few times and always enjoyed it. They have terrific selections for every member of the family. We have also done dinner at Chef Mickey's and their food was just ok. I liked the CP food better and Chef Mickey's seemed so much more chaotic than Crystal Palace. We have CP dinner and breakfast planned next trip so I hope it's still as good as I remember.
