Cheerleading Events

I believe that I saw someone post about cheerleaders being at DLR the end of Jan/first of Feb. I don't see anything on the convention list. Where do you find out when the cheerleaders are there? Is it really as bad when the cheerleaders are there as some say?

I don't know anything about a convention "list" but USA Cheerleading Nationals will be there Feb 27-Mar1 for Jr's (elem and middle/Jr high) and then later in March (I think the 20th but not completely sure) for Sr high level.

I've been going to DL almost every year for a long time, during July when my girls were in dance competitions, and now every Feb for cheer competition. The crowds always seemed much worse to me when we went in July.

Not to be mean but... OH NO!! I am going the 29th of Jan - 1st of Feb. I would rather not be there with a ton of cheerleaders...

I was in disney last year during a cheer competition (march) and it was...interesting...lol

I also noticed that hotel rates were a bit high during that time as well. I didn't really know why until I got there and saw all the girls. It definitely effected lines on rides like Indiana Jones, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, etc. But it also seemed like they were in the park mostly at night, I'm guessing they were cheering during the day.

Thanks for the info bzkds! I was thinking that someone said it was the end of Jan, but it sounds like it is the end of Feb. Good luck to your girls in the competition!

Years ago, when my sister was in cheer, we went like 2 years in a row, during the big competitions. Other than being a little more crowded, it was not really that bad. As teenaged girls go, they were a little noisy, but never so much so that I wanted to just leave.

I can say this, if you have teenaged boys, I'm sure they wont mind too much the "extra" visitors!

The NAMM convention is towards the end of Jan. this year so there may a bunch of crazy rock stars running around for you. LOL You can always see what conventions are going on by visiting the website.

I just searched and it said that the NAMM is from Jan 15-18

Huh, I was told it was later in the month. That's odd, half my office is there for the show. Maybe the coordinator doesn't know when it is....
