Cheerfully child-free. Anyone else?

No stabbing at all...but one poster seems to be way past the CCF part with some really mean comments on another thread.

You don't know the half of it, brother (or sister?)!!!

She's actually a lot better than she used to be . . . like when she labelled parents as "breeders" . . .

Hey all!

Happy Non-Fathers Day this weekend! :goodvibes

GoofyGirl-

I have agreed with you on so many threads.

I feel so sad for you that you do not have a father, nor a strong father figure in your life to celebrate Father's Day with :guilty: Here is a hug just for you:hug:

You sound like you have a great life! I do have a friend though who hasn't gone out with her husband alone since her child was born 4 years ago. In her mind, she "can't" do some of the things we mentioned here because she is a mom. I know not everyone is like that though.

It's not because she's a mom. It's because she's insane!!!

My SIL is like that. :sad2:

Do you not have a Dad or a Grandfather? :confused3

That is correct. I do not have a dad or a grandfather.

Dad- never really knew him or his side of the family, died in 2002.
Grandfather- died in 1980.

By "Non-Father's Day" I was jokingly referring to childfree males.

I know you mean well, but please don't feel sad for me. I am far from being a sad person. Growing up without a father seemed quite normal for me and I never really felt a loss. I guess it's a case of "you can't miss what you never had."

I have a kid, and am planning on one or two more, but I don't think that they are for everyone and never bat any eye when people say they choose to be child fee. The only thing I see being misrepresented, is when you guys say I can do XXXXX b/c I don't have kids :) Not all of us stay at home moms are poor, pregnant and barefoot in the kitchen. :laundy: We travel all the time and dine out way too much (fine dining & family), and we go to the movies and the ballet :) I go to the gym 2 hrs. a day and I can read any book I want, come on Harry Potter 7!! I have plenty of free time and no I don't hire anyone to help. I'm not syaing that I am this great super woman or anything, and I am also not saying that my child is neglected. We spend a lot of quality time together and the world is our playground. :beach: But I don't like it when people look at me with pity b/c I have a kid, like I'm a leper. :rotfl2: I just wanted to represent moms like me, who are in the middle. I can't find many moms to do things with b/c they have TOO many kids for their budget and are broke, but I also can't find many childless gals to hang out with either b/c they are always working. :confused3

Disclaimer: No, I am not rich or even wealthy. I just have a really good and well planned out life. This post is meant to be written in humor. Like, "awww, come on guys", sorry if I offend anyone.

Hello Leper! (Just kidding!);) :)

Your post didn't offend me at all.:thumbsup2

When I say "I couldn't do X if I had kids," I am only speaking for myself. I know I just couldn't afford X if I had a child. I live comfortably but I'm not wealthy. I have a lot of financial things to take care of by myself (I'm single). Even if I COULD do X with a child, if would be very, very difficult.

Thank you for this post. My DH & I have been happily child free for 7 years, but now we want to change that. Most parents make it seem like you are in for 20 years of indentured servitude if you have kids. I was beginning to doubt it was even possible to have kids AND have a life!

no flames or anything but I'm just wondering what any of you would do if you got pregnant? Just curious :)

Wow, we've sure had a lot of parents posting on this thread! I guess we're just irresistible!

What is everybody doing this weekend?? Momentarily, we're going out to a few estate sales....then we're going to an open house of a friend of DH's who just built his first spec house...then to friends' house for dinner.

No plans for tomorrow, but will probably go to the beach.

Well, since my husband got "Fixed", I would find out who was having their way with me in my sleep and in less it's George Clooney ask that they take the baby.

Truthfully, I thank God everyday that he has not put me into that position. I think I may choose to end the pregnancy so I am really glad he did not let me go through it.

DH says we could deal with it...not a great way to raise a child...We are just making sure this does not happen. I would not be a good mother.

I think answers to that question in this thread would turn it into a giant debate. So I'll choose to pass on this one. :thumbsup2 I've gotten sucked into that question before on other boards and it never ends well. :rotfl:

Just wanted to say to GG that I'm sorry you don't have a dad to celebrate with. I'm off to celebrate with my dad and then my dog will be giving his dad a nice dinner courtesy of me. We definitely celebrate furry Mother's and Father's Day!!!! :goodvibes

Yeah this morning I woke up and I thought, "I shouldn't have asked this" I wasn't trying to be mean or anything, I was just honestly curious.

You can have both, but unless you are going to have a full-time live-in nanny, it is a different life. Different in a good way for most people, but still different.

I do a heck of a lot more in a day with a child than I did without one, I'll tell you that! All I did before was lay around and surf the net.

But it hasn't stopped me from eating out, or going out with friends, or anything like that. If I want to see a movie, I ask my parents to come watch him, no biggie.

I'd end it.

Someone asked what everyone's plans are, so.......

Today I went out to lunch, then I went swimming (I belong to a pool).

Tomorrow I will be at church, then I'll swim again after church since going to be 90 Degrees!
