Cheerfully child-free. Anyone else?

We'll have our own home, where we won't have to hear about grandchildren every stinkin' day.

We'll talk about books, movies, Disney trips, music...everything but little Johnny's ability to put blocks in rainbow color order.

Hmmm, maybe we'll need to take over a retirement community near WDW. ;)

I really like the idea of an "over-55" community for the child-free! Who will make it happen?? :hippie:

I would pay more if I could find a childfree GROCERY STORE or RESTAURANT...

Can you tell I have had a bad experience this week.

As a SAHM, even I would pay extra for this feature. ;) It stinks that even if you try really hard to make your kid behave and have manners; you STILL have to deal with tons of misbehavior from other kids running a muck...(is that how you spell that?? I don't think I've ever typed that before. :confused3 )

Bump.

I'm finding the "wanted to kill a kid at WDW" thread quite interesting.

But if *I* had posted that, doncha know they'd all be attacking me?

Funny, but WDW is a place where I never had an unpleasant encounter with kids or adults. Guess I lucked out!

I think it's that whole thing where parents think if you don't have kids you just must be intolerant to children as a whole, where if THEY are bothered it must be because the kid is a brat. It's an unfair double standard.

Exactly. Although I do believe, as I posted on that thread, behind every bratty child is an adult that taught them how to be brats.

That's pretty much it. Children learn what they are taught (or not taught).

So, in reality, it's really not the kid's fault, it's the parent's fault. That's always been the way I look at it when I have an unruly kid in one of my dance classes.

It's time this gets bumped!

What do you all think of "Kid Nation"?

I think it is so contrived, and I am convinced that the kids who cry on there are crying on cue. I think they are all actors to some degree or another. The fact that the are on a TV show is proof that they want to be stars.
Also all the hype about the kids supposedly being in danger and/or emotionally spent is just that- hype. It was hype to get people to watch the show. Do you really CBS would put children in danger and risk being sued? They are not that dumb.

I did watch out of curiousity, but after 20 minutes or so I had enough and switched channels.

I would pay double for this!! :thumbsup2 OMG, can you imagine the peacefulness?

Goofygirl, haven't watched the show yet. I can tell ya', they can make the scariest reality TV show out of my niece and nephew, talk about birth control. :scared:

DN is watching it because her roommate has to for a psych class-she said it's stupid.

I actually was thinking of you guys this weekend. I left Target-boy do they treat their workers badly-and went to PetSmart. So I'm checking this woman out with all her dog food and she's got two kids with her. They've each got two pieces of candy and she kept saying "you each only get one" and the kids kept putting both on the counter. This went on for about 5 minutes and then Mom noticed the line was building and chose one for each of them. Of course, they whined about it, but according to Mom "It's your fault for having candy at the registers. We wouldn't have this problem if the candy wasn't there". Of course, in my head I'm answering: "No, the problem is that you can't say NO to your little darlings". After they left, the next customer says-"and THAT's why I have DOGS, not children." :rotfl:

OMG, she actually said this?! Wow.

Yeah, the store forced those kids to want the candy and whine for it!:lmao: It's the store's fault for wanting to make a profit from candy. How dare they!

I suppose that if her kids get fat, she'll blame McDonalds for "being right there in plain site". How dare they build a McD's there where kids can see it!

She also wouldn't "have this problem" had she checked out of a store with some condoms awhile back.:rotfl:

Friday a dear friend and I are flying to Phoenix for an Adult Riding Camp... two blissful days of a horseback riding clinic, complete with chair massages and dinner and drinks both evenings.
Then we are staying an additional 4 days at a resort and spa in Scottsdale. Getting pedicures, massages, playing golf, and visiting Sodona.
She and I are both happily married (she: 25 years, me: 18 years) and blissfully child free.
Woo Hoo!

Let the flamming begin, but I don't care. I love writing this stuff.

That's great that you have decided to be child-free. This means that by not having children the world will eventually be ridden of people who think like you. Hopefully? Hehe.

I guess you don't regret your parents having born and raised you, so you could go to disney when the kids are in school and you don't have to deal with them.

This is one of the sadest threads I've ever come across on the internet and I can't believe its here on a disney website. Color me naive.

Have fun dying all alone in a nursing home...its a blast. I've seen the future for the child-free. Its dark and lonely in the end.

Have a great life and enjoy disney while you can. Can't buy me love...best song ever.

bfrosty

Whoa. I'm just glad that the child I'm not having won't have to deal with the spawn that you are probably creating.

:scared1: Wow, where the heck did that come from???

Because I don't have kids I'm going to die alone in a nursing home?? :lmao:

People without kids don't experience love?? :rotfl:

My mother didn't really want a child and made it quite clear. It took lots of $$ and more than a few years of therapy to get over that, but now I understand her a lot better. I'm glad I felt that I had the choice not to have kids and didn't feel forced to like she did.

Your post has to be one of the nastiest, rudest, and uncalled for posts I have ever seen! What gives you the right to critize anyone? Do you think you have that right just because you can have children or you do have children?

I wonder...do you consider yourself a nice person? If you do, then you must be on some wonderful drugs and you need to share! :rotfl: But then again, your "name" is 'bfrosty' - that should explain a lot!

And you know, even if you have children it doesn't mean you won't find yourself dying all alone in a nursing home one day. Having children doesn't necessarily mean they will "be there" for you in your old age!

I may not be "cheerfully child-free" but I am trying to accept that I won't have any children. And I'm trying to live a happy life.

I guess your parents never taught you "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything at all" - huh? Here's a piece of advice you might want to take to heart - THINK BEFORE YOU CRITIZE!

Oh - didn't know it was an old post...didn't pay attention to the date. But I got that off my chest and feel better. :)

Hey, goofygirl:yay:

Were you ever a member of alt.childfree?

They often did the ol' Breeder Bingo and that is the first thing I thought of when I read bfrosty's post:rotfl:

Time to bump this. Sorry I've been slacking in bumping this thread!

No, I was never on alt.childfree. Is it still around?

I used to post on IVilliage, but I tired of it when they changed the format. I've also been on EZBoard and the NoKidding boards.

:goodvibes
