Is it possible to check into a DVC room over the phone?

The reason I ask is I am checking into BWV at about midnight on Jan 15. This is the Saturday of MLK weekend.

Do you think I will get the worst standard view studio to be had?

I am going to be there for 2 weeks so I would really like to get a decent room that is not handicapped and/or the crappiest room at the resort.

Any suggestions? :smooth:

You can call and see if they will "block" a room for you but there are no guarantees. In my experience, BWV usually does preassign rooms. But if someone who checks in before you is unhappy with their assignment, they may switch theirs with yours.

Hopefully by then the demolition of the old DVC offices will be done and there aren't any really "crappy" standard views other than long walks down the hallway. If you don't like the room, it may be worth it to not unpack and pay the $25 room change fee in the morning.

We arrived near midnight on our last trip in 10/04. I was panicked since our flight arrived an hour later than scheduled. I already had fears of my room being swapped out before we arrived since we were arriving late, but now it was even later. The resort was sold out and my main concern was being stuck with a smoking room. I called BWV as soon as we landed (and I was waiting at the car rental place praying that I had not been stuck with the last car on the lot that was 2 sizes smaller than reserved). Anyway, I didn't check in via phone (I don't think you can), but I at least advised them that we were on the way. I'm not sure if that did much, but I felt better after talking to someone to let them know we were there.

As luck would have it, we got the best room of all our trips (and a free double upgrade on the car)! My experience has been that you do get your request. It seems that the pre-assignment thing is what they go by.
