Hello all,
got a bit of time to check in. We have today and Sunday left on our trip. Thus far up to about 2200 pics and I haven't hit DTD (will be going there shortly) and MGM yet. MGM tomorrow with plans to meet up with Amy and Barrie for EMH.
I do have some bad news to report on the equipment front. Less than 3 minutes after walking into Port Orleans: Riverside my D50 with the 18-135 lens attached fell about 2 1/2 feet onto the ceramic tile floor of the lobby. OUCH!!! Initially it seemed as those the only damage was to the lens hood. That was on Monday. I used the lens all day Tues at MK and Wed at AK (though I was switching between this lens and the 70-300VR). Thursday I also used it and got some real nice shots of Holiday Wishes and some characters. Yesturday (Friday) I used it a bit in the morning, then switched to the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 when we went into the Living Seas area. Let me backtrack a bit, I did start to notice the front of the lens looked a bit off, like possible something not right. Well disaster. We went to leave the store at Living Sea's and while DS was buying himself a Crush toy I went to change lenses and as I pulled the 18-135 out of my pouch, the front of the lens fell off onto the floor. Luckily the floor has a rug so no further damage, but the lens will have to be sent in for repair.
Luckily I brought along my backup 18-70mm lens which I will be using today and tomorrow.
The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 has gotten a HUGE workout and thus far is performing like a champ. Its nice to keep it at ISO 1600 and f/1.4 or so and get some nice night shots. This is highly recommended when toting children along and it is at night and there is NO time to set up a tripod. Especially when DW is pushing 1 stroller and Dsis is pushing the other and no one was to stop for "More Pictures". Shoot on the run.
Anyway, my computer is slower than a turtle moving in glue so I don't have any pics uploaded (plus right now I'm on my brother in laws computer). I have put most of my pics on both the laptop HD and the external HD.
Oh, on a side note I was able to run into AndrewWG and his DD on Monday night and also had a chance encounter with Steve's Girl. We passed each other just outside the Buzz ride. She recognized me from my pictures here and we got a chance to talk briefly.
We're back home on Monday afternoon/evening. I've converted only about 100 pics thus far to JPEG so I'll post pictures throughout next week as they are ready. I do have a lot that need white balance adjusting.
I'll be doing a full trip report and I'll also do a photography report too.
Ok time to hit DTD, DS wants to see the Lego Store.
Have a great weekend.
