Checking in at 2nd resort during split stay

Ok... so it sounds easy to move from one resort to another.. with Bell Services handling the luggage leaving us free to spend the day as we please. If we venture to a park, I am concerned about how late we may get back to check in. I have been told that our room will be held for us no matter how late we get back since it is booked with points, but I am wondering if I should be thinking about ONLINE CHECK IN??? which I have never done. Any feedback from anyone who has checked in later in the day would be appreciated.

Also we are staying at BVW (for the first time) in a garden/pool view studio and I am wondering if there is any room request info that I should add to our reservation. (I know it is a request and not a guarantee)

You can do online check in and or someone in your party can check in at the resort early in the morning before you hit the parks.

This could have changed, but when we went in October, if you had a split stay under the same reservation number you couldn't do online checkin at all, even if you called MS. Do you have separate reservation numbers? Interestingly, we have another split stay in May, it was again under one reservation number but I just added Magical Express this week, and they ended up giving us two new separate reservation numbers for the split, so I'm guessing we could now do online checkin....

Flying from the West Coast means that we are almost always checking in after 5PM and usually after 10PM. Once or twice it's been closer to midnight. You will not have a problem checking in after going to the parks but of course you can always do the online. Late check in has a benefit in that there's never been a line!

A CM told me last year that room assignments are completed 2 days in advance.
Checking in earlier might help if you request a room change.
