We planned a spur of the moment surprise trip this year - arriving June 3 and leaving the 11th. We will do the parks from the 4th to the 10th. I have been checking for Chef Mickeys for a couple of weeks now - praying someone will cancel. We did C.M. back in 2003 and had the best time and the oldest dd still remembers and talks about it to this day. We have talked about it so much that the other 3 kids really want to go there. In addition, my youngest is 4 and is crazy about trains. He would LOVE the monorail thru the contemporary!

We do have ressies for Tusker House but it is on an early entry day and we aren't staying on property -- I may drop this one as I am not sure I want to do AK on an early entry day. We also have O'hana one morning right before 8.

What are our chances for getting Chef Mickey's for breakfast at this point? If we showed up at 7 in the morning do you think they could possibly seat a party of 7 within a reasonable time without reservations?

Thanks!

I would like to know this too. Looking for a Chef Mickey 5/16 evening ressie and a tusker house breakfast. Our trip is also last minute for my sons birthday. i check the online system about 20+ times a day with no luck.

anyone know if its better to call or check online?

I got a dinner reservation at CM yesterday (or was it the day before?) for 5/16! I just kept kept trying online and one day it just popped up!

Good luck to you both, keep trying :goodvibes

thanks!! I was able to get a tusker house on the 20th, but still searching for the Chef Mickey..id does pay to keep checking!

Keep trying. In fact, the odds of cancellations increase as your trip gets closer. Most cancellations are the result of last minute changes, illnesses, trip interruptions, etc. So keep at it right up to the day before. I'll bet you get in. Though a party of 7 can be tough. You might want to try for a 3 and a 4 and hope that when you arrive, they can seat you together. As for showing up with a group of 7 without a ressie...well, with 4 kids, the youngest of whom is 4, I wouldn't do it. 4 tired, restless kids waiting around for a table that may or may not materialize is not my idea of fun. But only you can be the judge of your tolerance for that level of pain.

Thanks for your input. You are probably right - I wouldn't want to disappoint them by being able to see into the restaurant and not eating there. I was just unsure if I would likely be seated or not. I will keep checking! This is the only meal of the week that I feel that we have to have. I would like Ohana for dinner as well but will not be too disappointed if we don't get it. I am such a planner normally and this spur of the moment (well - a month and a half is spur of the moment for Disney to me anyway) planning is hard!

You said you were checking daily- do you mean once a day or many times a day? It pays to be obsessive and check every chance you get...

So close! I am probably going to cancel a reservation for Chef Mickey's Tues, May 31st @ 7:40am. So I am sure there are others out there like me ironing out the last details & will cancel some reservations. Good luck!

just keep checking!!! I am still trying to get an ADR for our trip in 2 weeks - it is the ONLY restaurant my 3 kids all want to go to again. I booked a handful of other fun Mickey meals (tusker, garden grill, etc.) but even my 5 year old asks me about Chef Mickeys so I'm just going to keep checking everyday until we are boarding our plane to come home, LOL!!! I must check 6-8 times a day easily, once just isn't enough!!

GOOD LUCK!!!

Having internet service on my iPhone was WONDERFUL on my WDW trips. On the WDW mobile web page, you can check dining reservations easily. If you have a backup plan, I would check often during the few days before you want to go to Chef Mickey's.....

I had Chef Mickey's breakfast reservations on both my last 2 WDW trips and canceled both 1 or 2 days before. We really planned to go... but on one trip, we changed our plans to spend more time at HS (and wanted to get to HS early so no time for CM)... the other trip, we decided to stay out at the park later than planned, so canceled CM or the following morning.

But... don't bother checking for dining reservations 2 hours before the time you want, WDW seems to stop making reservations 2 hours before (my experience last trip).

I'll guess that showing up at 7am is a good plan.... I've never done that, but I bet a lot of people don't make it for those early reservations.

I am definately still looking - multiple times every day. I just wish Disney made it easy to search for a whole weeks worth of breakfast dates at once! Searching day by day is time consuming. We leave on 6/11 (not 5/11) or I would have jumped on that opening!

Thanks so much for asking this! We are in the same boat, when we planned all our ADR's we didn't want CM. Now that the trip is getting closer, we definitely want to go! I've been trying for weeks to get a June 6 reservation, we want an extra early breakfast..but no luck yet.

I'm hoping that as time gets closer someone decides to cancel their 7am ressie and we'll scoop it up!

I am looking for one almost 5 months in advance and they are all full. I have changed my dates 3 times. Now that FD has come out I am trying for the last week of September everyday with no luck.

I have a ressie @ Chef Mickey's on 6/15 @ 7:00 AM for 5 people. I am considering getting canceling it in favor of some other options. If that can help someone out - let me know!

I got my reservation for chef Mickey the night before this past wk! It was a very nice surprise! Keep trying but have a backup plan.

Thanks - I will. I wasn't online much this weekend & I might have missed one that someone had available. I have my fingers crossed that I didn't. As I said before, while I would like Ohana, I would be thrilled to only have the Chef Mickey's ADR for the entire week!

Got my Chef Mickey's reservation thanks to a wonderful dis board member who coordinated a cancellation with me! Yeah! Keep trying if you are looking for a reservation.

Now I would like to get Ohana and maybe one or two others. However, if I don't - I am still happy and I am not going to stress about it. This made the trip for us!!! We can eat counter service the rest of the week if we have to.

So happy for you!!!! The more I read this board, the more I like it and the people here!!!! :cool1:
