Checking back for new room only code

I have called and checked online numerous times and the code is not available for the AKL standard room for our dates. What are the chances that something will open up? Will Disney release additional inventory or is this it? Has anyone had success with being able to apply the code days or weeks after it comes out?

Disney generally does not release more discounted room inventory.At this point you are relying on someone else cancelling.My advice, if you are certain you want to go, book something else with the code, and then keep trying to switch.That way at least you will have something.

No can do. I am trying to book my Mom's room only. We are part of a GG with 4 rooms total. The rest of us will benefit from keeping the free dining. I don't want to put my Mom at a seperate resort. I'll just keep checking. Thanks anyway for the advice.

worse case senario-she can stay in your room-pack an air mattress. I know its not the greatest thought-sharing a room with your mom on vacation-but if you cant find anything else its better than her going off to another resort alone. Hope everything works out. Enjoy your trip.

I just switched our AKL standard view room only for 8/22-8/24(then we switch to free dining package) from the AAA rate of $215 to $167/night.
Saved around $80!

We did it yesterday. Are those around your dates? I would call back!

We already have 4 and a baby in our room. My Mom wants her own room.

Our dates are 8/26-9/2

Not sure which code/dates you're looking for, but we leave in less than 2 weeks and just tonight (after checking everyday for the past 5 weeks) our dates magically opened up for AP rates. I just starred at the screen for a few seconds when the Poly came up with availability after not 1 night available for so long. And I have folks on the DIS to thank. So keep trying, it does work!!! Good luck!!!

You are checking room only codes for her. Have you asked to see what package code is available? Maybe the inventory you want is available with something other than a room only code. Always worth a shot.

I've been trying to get something other than rack rate for our late Sept trip to the Poly. So far, not a thing. Guess I'll try every few days. I hate to be a pain but I would like to save some money if I can. It's either try to hold out for a code or maybe switch to POR. DH is having a hard time thinking about paying full price for the POLY when we have gotten discounts in the past. I don't like it either, but........

I tried everyday, sometimes twice a day. I just figured no one was going to cancel the Poly and I'd be without an AP rate. I saved $50 per night over AAA rate so I'm very happy with that!!! Keep trying!!!

Too bad you're on a GG as those standard rooms ARE available right this minute on Expedia @ $149 + tax (plus a $50 gas card if you use MasterCard to book). But you never know, maybe they will go back into WDW inventory if unsold on there!

I was out of town for a couple of days and just checked this thread. I immediately went to Expedia and found only the standard $225 room. What am I doing wrong? Is there some special to click on to get to $149?

Just checked now, and if you change the length of stay from 8/28/08-9/2/08 the rate is $149.00 a night.

We are going in Sept. and have FD for 6 nights at ASSp. I wanted to add a day to our trip and stay at AKL for the last night as a treat. Nothing was available when the code came out so I added 1 more night at ASSp. Today I checked again and AKL was now available so I was able to cancel ASSp and book AKL standard for $149 with the DDI code. I only needed 1 night, but I'd say to keep checking and perhaps something will open up.

Been trying to use the code for our current ressie at AKL 8/10-15 but no luck. Keeping fingers crossed that something will be available.

Don't you just hate it when a code becomes available (as you have been waiting patiently for it to be offered), then you aren't able to use it! UGH!

Guess what? I finally got the $149 a night for my Mom for standard room at AKL for our dates. I ended up saving her $335 total. I told her that she owes me one zebratini at the AKL and one Grey Goose slush in Epcot. Sounds fair, right?

So, if I understand correctly, if there are rooms still available, just not with the code, Disney does not make them available with a discount once the date gets closer? I would think they would release more rooms as the timg got closer just to fill the resort

There never seems to be a rhyme or reason with this. I just know that I kept checking and the discounted room appeared. It pays to be persistent.
