Checking AP rates: Is the AP website as reliable as calling CRO?

What has your experience been? Anyone ever find something by calling that WAS NOT showing as available on the AP website?

I keep checking the website for the ONE night I need, but I can't help but feeling I may be missing it by not calling. Thoughts?

I need AP rate (or AAA even) for Fri 8/8 AKL Club Level standard room. :wizard:

In my experience, if it doesn't show up as available on the site then CRO will not have it available either.

Same here..I pull it up online & then I call..the CM is looking at the same availability that I am.

I know how bad you want that room. I would just keep calling everyday and looking online to see if someone cancels or changes resorts. I have changed my ressie 4 times now so rooms I had are back in the system so someone may do the same. I think the first wk in august 3 through the 10th is very booked up. I'll keep my eye out for you:surfweb: Wishing you much luck:wizard:

On line and calling in is looking at different inventory availability, from what I understand. Doesn't hurt to try both.
Worse case, try a discounted wholesaler like Expedia.

Yesterday I checked the AP site, the regular Disney site, AAA and then gave up & called CRO first thing in the morning & then again later in the afternoon - finally lucked out & got AP rate for AKL in September for our anniversary. I always try everything first, have it in hand if there's something available & then call CRO. Always have better luck talking to a CM than doing it online.:badpc:

Thank you all for your help and advice!

I do have the Club Level room booked, but it's at rack rate $335. I would love to get a AAA $284.75 or AP $254.00 rate on it for the 8th. (I had AAA and now AP rate for the second night the 9th already). These 2 nights (Fri/Sat) are sandwiched in between DVC stays the week before & after.

There is no availability on the regular WDW site for that room on that night. Does it ever pop up at an AP rate when there is no CRO availability? I.E., once a room is tagged with an AP rate it stays an AP room even though there are no same CRO rooms to be had? Am I making sense?

See - I am STILL on room rate crack!!! :hyper: :hippie: :rotfl:

Try both and keep trying..availalibilty changes constantly. Once I tried just before closing every night and every time there was availability at the Poly after it has been sold out for weeks.

Good luck!

TWICE I have found what I wanted online when the CMs on the phone swore there was nothing. I had one tell me last year that if I tried to book it online I wouldn't be able to get a confirmation number because the system was obviously not updating in real time. I hung up, booked online, called back and cancelled the first room.

Yesterday I found the 3 nights I needed at the Poly right after I called and they told me there was nothing at any of the deluxes. Booked it online, got my confirmation, then called and cancelled the rack rate room. Yes, it is a pain to have to wait for my original deposit to be refunded, but at least I was able to snag the room i wanted at a great rate!

Definitely call AND check online! :thumbsup2

I called this morning and was FINALLY able to get an AP rate on 2 out of the 3 AKL club level nights we have booked. I have had that ressie since October of last year and the room has been at rack rate the whole time. No AAA, no bounce back, no AP, nothing.

I decided to call and ask again (even though I already went night by night on the AP site, I thought MAYBE I might be able to get a AAA rate) and the CM found the first 2 nights with an AP discount. I am going to keep watching to see if I can't manage to get that 3rd night discounted, too! :)

Same here...I looked on the AP site and found availability and when I called CRO said there wasn't one. I did tell them I saw it on the site and they were able to somehow find the room a different way on their computer and book it for me. :confused3Good luck!pixiedust:

I've noticed that the website has more avalability then CRO. I wanted an AP discount room for a trip last October and online they had it, but only at Sports and I wanted Pop when I called they had no values, so I booked Sports online. I don't know if this is the normal case, but it's just what I've noticed.

Is it possible to check the AP website without actually holding an AP? I am planning to purchase one for our Oct trip and would really like to be able to check. I am currently holding AAA rate at CSR, but am thinking of switching to the Poly.

You can only log onto the AP website with an AP or AP voucher.
