checked baggage restrictions

Just bought brand new luggage yesterday for our upcoming trip! Does anybody have any ideas what the limits are for checked baggage on AC? One piece looks totally huge but then I was thinking that they probably wouldn't sell something that didn't meet requirements. The other 2 pieces would be within the maximum allowance but just wondering about the "big beast".

Umm-not sure-but you should check the airline website just to make sure it is "legal"!!

Here you go:
Air Canada and its regional carriers allow each customer to bring along two pieces of luggage which is carried in the baggage compartment of the aircraft at no charge. This is known as the 'free checked baggage allowance'. The overall measurement of each piece (L + W + H) must be less than 62 inches or 158 cm, and the weight less than 70 lbs. or 32 kgs. Don't exceed these limits or you'll have to pay an additional amount at the airport prior to travel. Note that checked baggage weighing more than 100 lbs or 45 kgs. will not be accepted. Please contact the nearest Air Canada Cargo office.

Even my Air Canada brand luggage just barely makes it under the measurements (can't use the extension zippers cause it becomes oversized). I'm okay going down there but I pack an extra roller duffle (empty) to use as my 2nd pc coming home.

Okay, IF I measured correctly it comes to 61" (how close is that!!) It's supposed to be a "28" expandable" if that helps. I obviously wouldn't be able to"expand" it either. BTW, great idea about bringing along an empty one.
