I reserved a full size car 6/1 - 6/13 about 2 weeks ago, EA, for $383.36. Since then I have re-checked the price about every day or two. This morning, in my random check of rates the same full size, same dates, Emerald Reserve (which says you bypass the counter and choose your car) came up $317.53!!!! That's almost SEVENTY DOLLARS LESS!!!! I booked it immediately and I'm doing the happy dance again. ;)

I am assuming this is thru their website? DId you ever call them and if so, were the prices the same?

Thanks so much for your post. I checked our rates and just saved $80!!! Doing that happy dance in San Antonio too!!

thank you, thank you! I love these boards. I just rebooked ALL of my car rental reservations...all the way up to Nov.1 and the low rate was available on all. Plus I used the vacation contract code and got an additional 10% off of all of the already low rates of $132 base for a full size. PLUS used the extra $15 off for my May trip. I'm paying $327 TOTAL for 2 weeks and 1 day for a full size car! That is great! I've been writing all of my friends.

Thanks!!! Our rates for Oct dropped too!

Also, we could reserve Intermediate and still have EA service, but if we went w/full size we got ER.

In comparison to our old full size EA ressie, we saved $105 on the full size ER or we could save $123 on an Intermediate EA ressie. Decisions decisions... I booked both to think it over :) I think full size cars are usually on the aisle so it is tempting to keep the intermediate reservation! I will ask my husband which he prefers, and cancel on later today :)

Again thanks for the heads up!!! :bounce:

Thanks for the post. I saved quite a bit too!

I also discovered the changes to the Emerald Club in the process.

I already posted the changes on another thread...

I called 3 times to get the story straight and the last lady I talked to said she got a memo today about these changes.

EA is ONLY Intermediate size now and the EA will be mostly stocked with Intermediate cars. So she said to reserve a Full size if that is what I need.

She said Compact thru Full size have the choice of Emerald Reserve or Counter and ONLY Intermediates have the EA choice.

I just checked my rates for May, they are down about $35. I tried full size with EA and it errored. With full size, you had to use "Emerald Reserve". I tried with intermediate and EA and it was $13 less than full size. So they are no longer the same rate.

I just reserved a car at National...with the new rates a full size was less expensive than my Dollar ressie for intermidiate. I signed up for Emerald Club. Could someone please explain to me what perks I get and how I go about getting them. I'm confused about the posts above.

WENT IN AND CANCELLED MY OLD RESSIE WHICH WAS 198.02
AND GOT NEW ONE FOR 144.33...
THANK YOU!!!!!

punkin-
With the Emerald Club you bypass the counter, and go straight to the garage where the cars are. If you have an Emerald Aisle reservation, you can choose any car in the Emerald Aisle or any car off of the Aisle of the type of car you reserved (full size, intermediate, etc). With Emerald Choice or Reserve, you still go straight to the garage and pick any car out of the aisle that you reserved. There is a little booth on the way out where you check out your car with your reservation confirmation, and you are on your way within minutes!

Thanks so much .. I just saved 34.13 by using the DC discount w/ national.. ( i was booked w/ alamo as it was the cheapest for 9 days at 190.71 ! ) now i have a little more spending $$.. Michelle

(ps my dates are June 12 to June 21 )

I see, so with Emerald Isle you could conceivable get an upgrade if there are nicer cars there than you reserved?

Correct :) But only if they are in the Aisle marked Emerald Aisle :)

I LOVE YOU GUYS!!! I've been trying to convince DH to extend our trip from 11 to 12 nights. Thanks to this thread I just went on National and knocked $102 off our ressie!!! I used the $20 off coupon in the Ent Book and our total for 12 nights is $268.50 (it was $370.40 before). Thanks again!!!

2 DROPS IN ONE DAY! After seeing this message about National this morning I checked to see if it would lower my rate for 5/31-6/7 and it did. I was with Dollar at $154.16 including taxes using DESFL code for a full size car. The new National rates brought it down to $138.04 including taxes (using Entertainment rate and $20 coupon). So I rebooked. This afternoon I was playing around getting rates for a friend and rechecked National for my dates and guess what!!! It was lowered again. I am now at $125.31 including taxes using the Entertainment rate and $20 coupon for a full size. This is just too weird! But I'm loving it!!!! Do you think if I keep at it they'll pay ME to drive their car??? LOL!

2 DROPS IN ONE DAY!
Yup. Just rechecked the May ressie I made earlier today. Rate dropped by another $13.

Then again, I could say rates went up. I also mad a Nov/Dec ressie earlier today. The base rate for a week was $120. I rechecked and it is now showing $132.

Don't know what gives, but I'm glad prices are so low right now :).

wow, this is the lowest I've seen rates in years at MCO.

I just check rates for Pensacola, Fl and they were $50 higher than Orlando for the same timeframe.

herc.

I made new ressies for the second time today and my rate dropped $23. On my 1st ressie today it said Emerald Reserve. My 2nd ressie now says Emerald Aisle, and I rented a Full Size both times. Did this happen to anyone else?

Ok, I just got off the phone with National and this is what she told me. My 1st ressie today (Emerald Reserve) guarantees me a full size car and my total for 12 nights was $268 (the web site would not let me choose anything other that ER this morning). My 2nd ressie today (Emerald Aisle) will get me at least a midsize or better-whatever happens to be in the aisle when we get there-so I may end up with a midsize even though I would rather have a full size- and my total for 12 nights was $242. The difference is $26. Everyone-take a look at your 2 ressies today and see if this is what happened to you also. What experience has others had with EA. I would love to save the additional $26, but don't want to be stuck with a car that's too small.

Tay N Evie's Mom,
I made a ressie for a full size and it only gave me a choice of Emerald Aisle or counter, so I picked EA (Emerald Reserve was not an option). Because I'm using EA, does this mean I'm not going to get a full size, even though my ressie says full size? This is kind of confusing.
