I have found that picking up at different times changes the price of the rental. Maybe that is why you are not getting the same discounts.

I've been working all morning on National car rental..I'm begining ot think I'm wasting my time. I cleared cookies and history.

I've tried Emerald Club with various codes form Mousesavers, aarp, dc, etc..and I'm still either getting they have no cars, or really high rates.

I don't think I got the January DC newsletter..does that come as an email letter?
(edited, since I got the coupon and it made no difference form other stuff I had tried)


I'm going April 6 11:30am - April 16 4 PM (so it's considered 11 days).
I'm paying Alamo $203 for a small car..and for abotu the same, I'd rather have am intermediate or full size..and it looks like some of you are.

Is there a special code you are using to get these great rates? How do you become a emerald member?

The codes are mainly on mousesavers.
You join Emerald Club by going to the National website and joining.

Thanks for the info we just changed our ressie from dollar to National and recieved a 100 dollar cut.... I may mention We have gone from 679 from Budget, down to 549 at Hertz, down to 411 at Dollar to 311 at National.It Pays to keep checking. Thanks for the info....

Yesterday I used the EC contract of 5007125 & $20 Entertainment Coupn and got $139 total.

I just tried it with Disney Club old code & got $124.86. I tried it with the new Disney Club code & coupon & got $122.04:

If we are not Emerald Isle Members...What is the proceedure do we go to a counter in the terminal? or do we have to board the dreaded shuttle bus to car counter? The web site says in terminal but, I have found that to be inaccurate before. IS THE line to pick up outrageous? Is it worth it to do The EA? can someone please advise via a PM. Thanks Lauren

Everything looks the same except for the contract discount (you are getting 20%). I can only get a 10% discount. Are you using the old DC club contract number? That gets 20%.

Thanks so much!!!! My rate for 8 days, full size July 4th week went from $178.97 down to $132.28.

I logged in with my EA membership, and it says Emerald Aisle on both my confirmation page and the confirmation email I was sent. There wasn't any option for Emerald Reserve when I made the reservation.

Now, when I get there if there are only intermediates on the aisle and I booked a full size, do I just go to the full size aisle and pick a car from there?

That is exactly what you can do, in fact, if none of the cars on the aisle tickle your fancy (which is what happened to me in Feb. I HATE white cars and I would not take a non smoking car) then you can just go right over to the full size aisle and take what pleases you. We got a gray Intrepid, smoking optional.

I am assuming you are coming into Orlando. You go down one floor from baggage, look up for signs to rental cars, go to National's counter, get your car assignment, cross the street to the garage and get your car.

If you want to join Emerald Club, go to the website and pay your 50.00 and join. The lines are rarely bad because most use EA.

I don't respond to open questions via PMs as I like to share information with everyone.

Thanks so much. I just cancelled and rebooked and saved $72 for our July27-Aug 5 ressie.

I spoke to EC customer service today to confirm my full size ressie for May. She explained that they are in fact changing the whole EA concept. EA will now be for intermediates only, anything larger than that will now be held in a special Emerald Reserve area. If you reserved a standard or full size, you would get to pick the appropriate size car.

I asked her about my full size ressie under EA for May wondering what I would get. She checked with a supervisor and told me that until the ER model is fully in place, all current EA ressies would officially be considered intermediate, but you would receive a free upgrade to whatever size car you actually reserved. So the bottom line is if you reserved a full size like me, you would go to the full size area in either EA or ER (whichever is actually in place when you arrive) and select your car.

Hope this makes sense, and more importantly, I hope everything works out when we actually get there.

No, she just said that the change over process had just started and would be happening over the next few weeks on an airport by airport basis.

I wish I could get my deals to come out this good. I do not have an Entertainment book, darnit! I cannot get a discount to come up using the new DC code, but if I use the old one, I get the discount. When I tried to Vacation outlet code, it tells me it expires before my trip (which is in December). Oh well, I guess I'll take what I can get, which is $167 full size for 8 days.
