Check Your DVC Account!

Where do I find Associate and info like that on my member acount?
I am on now and cannot find that info.
I can see points, vacations past, etc. Annual dues paid, etc.
What and where is the link I need?
I own alone, does that make a difference----why there is not a link to find?

Have you checked your profile? That's where the information should be. I had never looked at that page before, but now I know why ours says "additional purchaser." I'm the additional purchaser!

I suggested that they use test accounts and not live member accounts in the future.

One would think they would have been smart enough to do this to begin with. I'm pretty sure that most companies, big or small, use test accounts instead of actually using a member account. I would think any company would not want to take the risk of upsetting members.
Fortunantely, no one else has posted something was changed on their account and the OP had their account fixed.

This is very scary and quite honestly... it makes me angry. This is people's money... and not just a small amount either. I find it funny that they give you the 3rd degree when you call.... verifying everything except where your child was conceived but then some IT person can put their name on your account. There is no excuse for this... I'm sorry. Thanks for the heads up; it's great that we have a place where we can share inportant information like this. Thanks, April

just talking about the potential,

we are experienced in disney's protocols. and we are fans.
[ to us, disney is about all is left from the "dick & jane" era. ]
but more & more, seem that tradition is only being carry on by
the cast members on the grounds.


and,
maybe i am not the "best" educated poster & we have limited
dvc knowledge but i still know the implications when things
like this pop up. i think, just like the recent renter's vacation
was cx. , is a red flag.



as an owner, when i compared this with other actions, has
me very, very concern. "what in the world is going on behind the
scenes" ? ... the feeling all of this is giving me.


however, what other owners are thinking is totally up to them.

still, this was a major investment that we have been looking into
since 2002. not happy to read how the resorts are being
tore-up, property being stolen, some "renters" bragging how they plan
on ignoring dvc rules, guides not responding-and the guides'
range from outstanding/to very poor, and the horror stories
regarding wait listing.

so when i read the original post, it was the first time i realized certain
disney employees can add their names to our accounts. it recognized
for me, another loophole that can be used in the wrong way if the
person is "tempted". ( not in a million years, did i ever think a
cast members would have been stealing cc numbers until this year)




another good thing reading here...was learning how some are "pretending"
to help others for their own devices & the implications they are creating
inside the organization functioning & meeting the "expectations" dvc
promised owners.

I doubt this is any kind of policy. More likely to be the actions of one person taking a shortcut. Person responsible has likely been reprimanded.

I agree with vicki - not malice & aforethought, just plain old ordinary incompetence. The programmer used his/her real name, right?

This is probably the case. Hope the IT dept uses it as a what-not-to-do teaching moment (without naming the IT person that was involved, of course).

Just found this older post by searching. I just went online to get my member ID so I could call to add the DP to our upcoming stay. I was shocked to see two Assosciate Members added to my contract!! I called immediately and they couldn't find when or how they were added. However, she said she was deleting them immediately. YIKES! I guess I'll be checking more often. I am hoping/thinking that this was just an IT thing with the upgrades happening tomorrow!

I am a System Administrator in a mid sized hospital chain. I can not image why in Disney of all places there is not a test system just for the purpose of safely implementing system changes. The end users should never see changes in progress just the final end product.Even in our company everything is tested on a test system BEFORE any upcoming changes are announced. The IT situation at Disney never fails to amaze me. Makes me wonder if they know what an IT project manager is.Regardless it is totally unacceptable for anyone including IT to add their name to an account without notification as well as permission of the owner.

I posted to this thread a few months ago that an unknown associate was added to our account. DVC took the position that they do not add people to members accounts and that DW or DD was to blame. Several phone calls and days later, Disney determined that the person was a programmer working for Disney who was doing some testing. They said that they would see to it that it never happens again.

For all of our clients we had 3 software & data regions to work in (Development, Test and Staging) before the code was pushed off to production. Each of these had multiple sub regions within themselves which at times could be overlapped. The live software & data, Production, however was NEVER NEVER EVER changed without client authorization except to restore in an emergency. Even then it was from the nightly backup of that region. Now, if we could do it with only 9 developers/dbas for over 250 clients each running their own version of the software & databases, I'm sure Disney could do it too with only 1 client: themselves.

There is one case in which I can think of an engineer or manager modifying live data, and that would be to find a reported bug that they cannot replicate in any of the other environments ... even then, 99.99% of the time it's done on a fake account, and not a live person's account. The engineer who did that needs a good discussion with their manager about Prod data and system access.

I just checked and mine seems OK. However, I do get a popup screen which says:
