I'm so proud of my husband and his ability to build anything. I asked him to make my fireplace look pretty, and look what he did!

Here's what it looked like before:

He did a great job--it looks beautiful. And my heavens, that is one HUGE room!

Very pretty. I love the new paint, too. :thumbsup2

That is amazing...I always thought I preferred brick fireplaces but you have changed my mind.

My fireplace looks very much like yours did before the rehab. Can you tell me what your husband did to change it? Did he just cover up the brick with a new mantle and wood surround or did he have to tear the brick off? I'd like to change mine too but I don't know where to start.
By the way, your new fireplace looks great.

Beautiful!! Your DH did a very impressive job! :thumbsup2

Nice to be married to such a talented handyman!! :goodvibes

What a beautiful room! I love that entire wall. He did a great job

I have been asking my DH to do something with ours - but I have been asking for almost three years now - (sigh)....

he did an amazing job!!!! :)

I Guess I'm in the minority, but I like the old one better! :teeth:

Both look very nice, but give me the white walls with brick anyday.
:thumbsup2

I love fireplaces, and wish I had the room for one. Yours is so nice. He did a great job! :thumbsup2

That is very pretty! Did you ever get your granite installed in your kitchen?

Hooray!! It is beautiful!!

My DH did something similar to mine about 2 years ago. We were able to take the brick off and so above the mantle it is a regular wall and below the mantle is wood like yours. I have a fireplace downstairs also that uses the same chimney. I always HATED the brick fireplace we had (I hate the brick itself more than anything) and DH took care of it very nicely. Sometimes I just sit in the chair and admire his work!!
