Hey all, I am traveling to WDW in September and will be staying onsite at the Swan for the first time. I was wondering...what do you get when you check in. I've heard something about a resort id? :confused3 Is this the room key? If not...what is it for?

Thanks

"These little cards are literally your Key to the World.
A card with a magnetic strip on the back is issued at check-in to each member of your party. It is your room key and also identifies you as a Disney resort Guest. Always carry it with you as you may be asked to show it to gain entry to the parks on Extra Magic Hour days, or even to board Disney transportation. In addition, if you purchased Ultimate Park Hopper ("length of stay") tickets or certain other admissions media, these can be encoded on your cards as well, and used in the turnstiles at the parks, water parks and Pleasure Island for admission. If you wish, you can have charging privileges added to one or more of your cards by leaving a credit card number on file at your resort. This will enable you to charge purchases, activities and meals back to your room account. I love this option because I don't have to carry lots of cash around with me"

Danny those are the WDW resort ID - the Swan is NOT a WDW resort. ALthough it does entitle you to the extra magic hours - both morning and evening.

I also love having the room key as a charge card and for our park admissions. It's so convenient to have everything on one card. However, I don't think you can do this at the Swan or Dolphin since they are not Disney resorts. I have read that you must buy your park tickets at a desk at these hotels and they cannot be on your room key. I also do not think you can use your room key as a charge card....again because these hotels are not owned or operated by Disney.

Ok...so how do Swan/Dolphin guest take advantage of the Early morning and late nights?

S/D are included in the EMH. Their resort key works like the WDW resort keys for vertification purposes. We've had no problems in the past. If you're still unsure just check with the concierge/guest services desk when you're there.
And I write this as we have another 6 - 8 inches of snow coming tomorrow into Thursday!!! :cold: :cold:
