We are going on the 7-day eastern cruise on July 24 and I have a few questions.

1. How early do they let you board?

2. Can you take you luggage on board with you or do you have to wait for them to bring it to your cabin? If they bring it, how long before you get it?

3. Do they still have the 1 suitcase/person restriction that they had after Sept 11?

4. Is there short term parking near the ship so my husband can drop us off before returning our rental car? Any idea on cost of parking?

Thanks...Cyberkashi:Pinkbounc

Let's see...

1. They usually start letting people on about 1:30 P.M. Handicapped 1st, followed by concierge guests, then everyone else.

2. You can take regular carry-on bags, but you have to check the rest. Be sure to take a change of clothes and any other highly important items as it could be a little while before your bags get to your room. Take the kids' bathing suits in your carry-ons if you can.

3. We went in early Oct. last year, just about 3 weeks after 9/11, and we had more than 1 bag each. This rule didn't seem to be enforced at all and certainly didn't affect us.

4. I don't think I can help you with the parking issues since we had towncar service. However, I am sure that your husband could drop you off the same way our towncar driver did, but you'd have to carry your bags into the terminal yourself. I don't remember the porters being out there to help before the cruise - only after! Maybe I am wrong about that, not sure.

Actually the boarding time is 1:00 pm and most of the time they start boarding between 12:15 and 12:30. :)

You can take carry-on bags with you, no problem.

DCL limits you to two CHECKED bags per person, not one.

Your husband can just drop you off curbside at the port...there is no charge to do that. There is no short-term parking at all. If you park at the lot it is $8 per night, pre-paid.

RE: Carry-ons. Last trip I got stopped at lower level as I had 2 carry-ons. I was told that the rule is 1 carry-on per person.

There will be porters to collect your bags when you get dropped off at the drop off area. Ensure you have the tags and hand them the bags and it will appear at you door to you cabin. At least it did for us. gave us enough time to unpack before the fire drill.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info on porters. That in itself is a deciding factor since I don't know how I could manage 6 suitcases and a precocious 5-year old by myself.
