We currently have a family reunion cruise booked for OCT 2016. I booked us in a 1 bedroom suite on the Fantasy. This is going to be a surprise for my wife for finishing vet school, and I figured it would be worth it since we will have 2 young children that will still need daily naps. The other families will not be sailing concierge.

Has anyone ever sailed concierge and been able to check in in the regular line? My wife won't recognize the different color card, or see the luggage tags / pre-arrival booklet so I'm not worried about that giving the surprise away. But since we would board with the rest of our family instead of taking advantage of the concierge boarding I was hoping that I could save the surprise for when she walks into the room.

I believe you would have no problem checking using the "regular" line. Try to get to the counter first to give the CM a head's up not to give things away while checking in.

The first place you'll be walking, on Fantasy, would be the lounge to get your orientation. So I would keep that as the place of the surprise, not necessarily the size of the room.

I agree that you should get to the counter first. I would try to have all of our passports in my hand with a note that tells the check-in agent about the surprise. That way s/he won't give anything away in the check-in process.

You really don't want to miss concierge boarding, as that takes you on board to meet straight away with the concierge team. Along with snacks and cocktails. But concierge guests are able to have a certain number of non-concierge people board with them. We did this a few years back. One cabin concierge, 3 not, all boarded with our concierge friends. But of course only those in concierge actually get to go up to the lounge for orientation.
