I got my email today around 3. We chose WDW. For those of you going to DL, I go about once a month so PM me if you have any questions about what to look for or choose if we get choices.

The next time you go, would you take pics of the girly type pin lanyards available? I want to get a new one for me, so I don't look like a dork with my Costco Travel or Disney Travel lanyards, and my 7 year old said she wants to start pin trading too...

Thanks J.J. I might just need that help. I guess we're lucky that there are only 3 hotels to choose from if we have a choice.

I have never stayed in a Disney owned property. I've stayed at the Hyatt Alicante, which is now Hyatt something else, but looks the same (we stayed there again in 2008), and we stayed at the Fairfield a couple of times too. The Fairfield was really close to the main gate, but the Grand Californian looks like the place to be. Private entrance into CA, and closer to DL and DTD then the other two hotels. But really, I'd stay at any of the 3. I'm just so thrilled that we don't have to use our tax return to pay for the trip we were planning on taking.

Sure. We probably won't be going till after the Presidents holidays. So a few weeks from now. I'll take a few pics for you.

And I would say Grand Californian in a heartbeat, except they just redid the Disneyland Hotel pool and it is KILLER!!!!

I keep going back and forth about which one to pick if we have a choice. I want to stay at the GC but I know my boys would love the Disneyland hotel and pool. I think for 5 days of walking the closer GC will win out though. I can't wait to find out what our options are going to be!

That would be awesome JJ. I can use your pictures to call the Disney shoppers and get one sent to me ahead of our trip. I would love to find one that has the silver clip at the bottom, but doesn't have the breakaway black plastic clip a couple inches above that (do you have any idea what I am talking about?). I don't know if they make what I am looking for.

Thanks Heather! I swear, 2 days ago, they were sold out. Do you, or anyone else, have any idea what the purpose of the plastic card is at the base of the lanyard? I know it's called a lanyard card, but what is it's job?

So, the winners can't even go until June, we aren't planning on going until October, but my excitement hasn't stopped me from starting a pile with my pin/lanyard and my 3 yo son's autograph book, and hunting high and low around the house for my daughter's autograph book. I may just have to buy her a new one.

You're welcome!! I think it's just a decorative thing. It just says "Special Tag". It doesn't show a pic of the back but maybe you could use a marker to write her name on it? Your cell phone number in case she got separated from you?

lol Well I say the same thing about my daughter. She will only be 6 and a half when we go this fall. BUT I think having my cell # on her lanyard JUST in case is a very good idea.

I saw that one, and liked it. I really like the style of this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/320840070659?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2648 There doesn't seem to be the Velcro on it, which I don't want, and no break away clip. I also like the metal clip on this one better than the almost lobster claw style, because I think this clip will hold the fast pass pouch better.

I've just been leery about buying any of this stuff on eBay, because another part of the DIS talks about pin trading. I just don't really like that it is very princessy. For my daughter, it's fine, but for me, I like the harlequin pattern, or even the one that has crowns and castles, but no characters. I guess I just want it a little more subtle than having a bunch of princess heads floating around on my lanyard (I would feel guilty putting a pin on a princesses face).

I did buy a Meg pin on eBay because she is one of my daughter's favorites (she's 7, she's pretty fickle about her faves, but Meg has always been in the top 5), and I figured even if it is a fake, she would never trade that one. She asks me all the time why Hercules and Meg are never at DL.

It is a very good and smart idea. I'm more concerned about my 3 year old (who will be 4 when we go) running off. We were walking back to our house after a birthday party last weekend, and they both took off running down the sidewalk. My daughter stopped, turned and saw that I was getting mad, and came back. He didn't. My fear is that he would just keep going past our house and around the corner, but he went into our driveway. I still put them both in timeout and explained after that I don't like them doing that because if they did something like that at DL, they could get lost.

Are you going to DL or WDW in the fall? I told my husband about your crazy Canadian math problem law, and he thought I was kidding.

I had a dream that I woke up and my phone was ringing. I answered it and it was from Ventura and they told me I won. Then I woke up.

I did this just last night. My husband answered the phone and said, "I'll let you talk to my wife, she's the one that enters that thing," and then I woke up. It seemed so real at the time, but since the clock said 4:30 a.m., I knew it wasn't. Is it bad that I'm even dreaming about this contest?
