Check in before parks open or at midday break?

We're switching resorts in the middle of our stay - leaving tomorrow, can't believe it! The downside to switching is that our room might not be ready when we need our midday break (kids are 5 and 2).

We'll be at a park that morning, but we can run over to AKL and check in before this. Do you think this might make us *slightly* more likely to have a room ready earlier, i.e., when we get back around 1:00 pm - 1:30 pm? Or is it that, due to pre-assignment, we'll get the room we got whenever that room is ready? Can I just ask for another room that IS available?

Or is it all a gigantic waste of time and I should just wait until the break to check in?

TIA!

If you can do it easily, check in first. You never know, a room might be available then. Whenever we have changed resorts, we always check in as early as possible. A few times we had a room at 7AM, others not until 5PM.

We always check in as early as possible, it seems to aid our luck in getting a good room assignment. We've never had access to our room before 3 PM, but there is a phone number you can call to find out if your room is ready.
It couldn't hurt to emphasize to the CM checking you in that you would really love early access to your room.

I would check in early in the morning, it doesn't seem to be quite as busy and you will get first dibs on your room. Who knows your room might be ready for you. At least you won't have to worry about doing it later in the day.

There may not be as many people checking in but there are alot checking out in the morning. The lines I have seen have both sets of people in the same area so you may have to wait a while just to get to the counter. I would probably do it during an afternoon break if I had the choice.

I would do which ever fit into my schedule the best. Since it is your mid-day break the kids can rest and watch TV on the couches, eat, or go to the pool while you do check in so the line or room availability won't matter.

If you have plenty of time in the morning, go for it. But you might still get hung up in a long line and your room still might not be ready at your break.

Have Fun at AKL....you'll love it!!

why not while your taking the kids to breakfast, your dh trys checking in??? I have a 5yold and a 5 1/2 month old and while I took them with me to breakfast at the hotel we were checking out of, he drove our van over to the hotel we were checking into... Everytime we tried to check in early (7am) we have gotten a room (except at CR)... At least this way you will have left the luggage to be automatically checked in for you if a room is not available (hey you won't have to tip the bellman at least since you wont be there... sorry to all the bellmen who have had to do this!) and the just drive to the park your going to that morning (parking is free)... GL

I agree with Houston, I think checking in early may give you a better shot at getting a better room ie.. possible upgrade. Good luck!

I vote early too. Better chance for room selection and then it's taken care of.

That said, I have never seen huge check-in or check-out lines at AKL (personally), so if the morning time doesn't work out, I wouldn't sweat it.
