Same Car, same company, same rental period. I just keep going back
and get better rate as the trip approaches.

Subtotal.............................................$241.94 7/07
Subtotal.............................................$174.98 7/27
Subtotal.............................................$130.95 8/10

It is a real $ saver. So if you have a rental Car go back and recheck your rate you may get abig surprise.

Great post! I do this all the time, but most people don't know it.

Holy moly... good to know. I'm sure the folks on the transportation board would be interested to know this (though I'm sure many of them already do).

We did that in June and saved a lot of $ as well. I didn't know anything about doing this until a friend mentioned it. Great tip.

Yeh I have done this once already and went from 210 down to 189, however, I just tried to renew quote info, and Orbitz says the airport code isn't identafiable...well it was a few weeks ago!

What's up with dat?

Another tip.....By renting at the WDW car care center, you will save lots of $$$ on your rental, rather than at MCO. The reason is that you do not have to pay airport taxes. Use ME, (free) call rental car company for shuttle (free) and pick up car at WDW. (much less $$) :)

This is a great thread. Terrific advise!
I checked my reservation w/ National continuously. I was able to get a mini van for 6 people for our entire trip (10 days) for $430.00.
Always great to use any discount codes you can find.
There are plenty listed on Mousesavers.com
Without the discount rates I would have paid in excess of $600.00.

I was wondering about this. I didn't even think about the tax savings. Thanks for the tip.

Now I've got a question...is the ME automatically included for those of us staying at a WDW resort?

I just checked the exact same car and rental period at both MCO (airport) and WDW...and the estimated total ended up being less at MCO. $230 at WDW vs. $192 at MCO.

While the taxes were less, the base rate was about $50 higher at WDW.

I do this all the time as well. It can save so very much money!

Where online or where do you call to see about renting at the WDW car care center? That might be really good for us, especially at the end of our trip.

I found the WDW center on the Alamo website as one of the locations when I search Orlando.

I just tried to see if the WDW car care center was cheaper than the airport and it was $70 more than what I have now. I will call again closer to see if it goes down. Thanks for the tip - I forgot all about that.

Does anyone know how late the rental places are opened at the CCC to return the cars?

Alamo & National. They are really both the same company now. Alamo rates are usually a little cheaper though. Also they have a desk @ I believe the Swan Hotel. So that is another booking option besides the CCC.

When I started booking about a month ago, I kept two reservations from national, one at CCC and the other at MCO. The CCC rental was cheaper, but I knew I would have a hard time to talk DH into getting the car at CCC, hence keeping two.

Then in the last few weeks, alamo's price dropped significantly, the MCO price was cheaper than CCC, I have rebooked at least 4 or 5 times and now I only keep the alamo's rental, $220 for a SUV for 9 days with the entertainment code. In the last few days I could see the price coming back up, I am not sure whether it is because they are low on SUV now :earsboy:

I reserved the SUV (which was the lowest price of all their available cars) for our 7-day trip and it was just under $200. Everytime I tried to put in any of the codes on Mousesavers...still the same price. Which code did you use? I'm thinking of buying the 2006 Entertainment Book because there is a $25 coupon in it.
