cheapest resorts for family of 5?

Hi! We've never stayed on property before and I'd really like to plan as far ahead as I can! I know we can't stay in the value resorts, but are there any moderate that sleep 5?

POR (Alligator Bayou section) has rooms that will sleep 5. There is a trundle bed for the 5th person.

Brenda, how old are your kids? We had five with a trundle bed, and the kids hated it. They ended up sleeping 3 to a bed. So unless your youngest is a toddler, I don't know if you'd be too comfortable.

Depending how old your kids are, I would book 2 adjoining rooms at a value resort. That way you have 2 bathrooms, 4 beds, and privacy if you want it.

You can try the Fort Wilderness Cabins. They sleep 6.

I think it depends a lot on the ages (sizes!) of the five people. We have five in our family - 2 adults and 3 teens - and we opted for two rooms at a moderate resort. Depending on what discounts are available when you go, you may actually pay less for two rooms at a moderate or value resort than for one of the larger rooms at a deluxe. Plus, you'll have the advantage of two bathrooms!

I am a family of 5 & I opted for 2 rooms at CSR. There is DH, myself, DD-22, DS-11 & DD-9. DD-9 would not fit one of the trundle beds at PO. I checked the discount prices of two rooms to the availability of one deluxe that fit 5 & with the discount, 2 rooms at the moderate was cheaper. However, if the trundle size at PO is a size issue for your & if price is also an issue at the moderates, you can consider two rooms at a value.

My kids are 8, 8, and 13. I'm unsure of the trundle bed as well???

After looking over the Disney site (again )
I think its either adjoining rooms at the one of the value resorts (my kids really want to stay at asmovies) or at in one of the cabins. Would the cabins be roomier? What do you think kids would enjoy the most, asmovies or the cabin? I've never stayed on disney property, but really want to make the right decision when I book for the fall.

Both are nice resorts here are the pros & cons:

AS - You will have two bathrooms, two tvs. Food court, beware of the youth groups they can be annoying and noisy.

FW- Sleep six, bunk beds, one bath, full kitchen, seperate lr, lots of activities at resort including the free chip & dale campfire and movie. Biking, petting zoo, Trails End Restaurant.

Some find the transportation at FW difficult. There is an internal bus then you switch to another bus for the parks. The MK boat is great and we really never have had to wait more than 15 mins for any of the trans.

My vote would be FW. You might want to go to the wdw website and order the free vacation planning video/dvd. It gives lots of good information about everything at wdw. Have fun whatever you decide to do.

I would think the 8 yr olds would really love ASMo. We stayed in the Toy Story section, our kids loved it. Many people like 101 Dalmations the best. I have never stayed at the Campgrounds, but to me ASMo has an unbelieavable disney feel for kids - they relate so much to the movies icons.

We debated the same issues and ended up choosing the FW cabins for our family of 5. Our reasoning was that we will have a separate bedroom for some privacy, and a full kitchen, plus a deck with a BBQ grill, so we can also eat some meals in. We've rented a golf cart for the week to get around, so shouldn't have to deal with the internal busses too much, plus we can get to a comfort station if we need an extra shower, since there's only 1 bathroom. I will let you know after our trip in July if I still feel this was the right choice!

Is the Swan/Dolphin an option? Aren't there some rooms that accomodate 5?

If you are a nurse, teacher or in the gov't, they also have some nice discounts.

We have the same dilemma with our family of 5. Kids are 11, 9 and 6. We stayed at the Polynesian and found the room a perfect size and with an AP rate it was a great value. Have a great trip!

Contempory has probably the largest rooms with two double beds and a futon.

CR rooms are a good size

If you are going to stay at the FW Cabins, make sure you have a car to get around

Another option is to rent a 1BR at a DVC resort

Good luck with what ever you do, we are going to POR in about...what does it say down there? We looked into the cabins, 2 rooms at POP and the POR with trundle. we had the POR before with the trundle and it worked fine, granted the kids were 3, 6 and 9. This trip they are 8, 12 and 15 but we opted for the same. Price wise it was $200 more for 2 rooms at POP and $500 more for the cabin. After we booked, we got $300 taken off the price because of the summer sale. Anyway what does the countdown say?
