I stayed in a FW Cabin with 6 people, 3 of them small children.
We liked it, but it was a bit crowded.
I would stay there again with 2 adults and 3 children.
I don't think you need a car, I used the transportation system and it worked well. I liked the quick bus ride to the transportation center, where I could hook up with monorails and ferry boats.
However, you might want to rent a car for 1 day to do some Grocery shopping off site.
One FW cabin does cost more then 2 room at a value resort, so unless you end up saving on food, you might do better with two value rooms. You would get one more bathroom.
The FW home has 504 sq feet, which is slightly less then 2 value rooms, and some of this is Kitchen, so the sleeping space is smaller.
It does have the bunk beds to optimize sleeping space.
If the cabins had 2 bathrooms, they would be my first choice for 5-6 people.
I liked the idea of a row of bushes between my neigbor, instead of a thin wall. No one is above or below you.
The pools at FW are boring. The Value resorts are slightly better for pools. At least some attempt was made to make them cool looking.
Be realistic about plans to cook your own meals.
We planned this last time I stayed at OKW. We bought a bunch of groceries. Most of the groceries went to waste. Once in the parks, we did not want to leave and go back to the room to eat.
We tended to eat only Breakfast in the room, and a few late evening meals.
With this trip we had teenagers.
When I stayed in the cabin it was with younger children. This time the kids either needed a nap at lunch, or were ready to go back to the cabin by dinner, so we ate more meals in the cabin.
We were also on a tighter budget this trip.
