How to make sure I dont have an obstructed view veranda?

We have an upcoming reservation for the disney dream in October.

We have just found the room on YouTube and the veranda has a large metal stanchion on the right obstructing the view. (not classed as obstructed as all the rooms are the same price)





So going to move but no idea how to make sure the new room doesn't have it.

Is there a listing anywhere to help?

Ie. IS the a breakdown to list the rooms without the stanchions?

I have been in two cabins that had those “side posts” and it truly was not a big deal and would not be considered “obstructed view”. They hold the ship together!

Somewhere there is a photo of the ship with all the cabin numbers on it. That would help if it really bothers you.

If your cabin has a “pole” on the right, then the cabin just to its left would be “clear”.

What category do you have booked? Category 6A, 6B and 7A include the following notation:

• Category 6A: Decks 8 and 9; private verandah with partial whitewall
• Category 6B: Decks 5, 6 and 7; private verandah with partial whitewall
• Category 7A: Decks 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9; enclosed verandah with limited views

I think the partial whitewall has to do with the railing part. I believe the OP is talking about sort of half of an I-beam on one side of the balcony. A lot of cabins have this.

Bingo. And you are exactly correct - that is not considered an obstructed view.

From the ship picture it looks like blocks of 6. Just look at the deck map and choose a room an appropriate # of staterooms from yours. But honestly the obstruction isn't so bad.

It really isn’t bad at all. I chose a cabin with that “beam” because it’s a solid wall - no connecting door to the next door cabin. Depends on what you are looking for. Can also be sort of a wind break if it’s on the forward side of the balcony.

No - to my knowledge they are not considered obstructed and so would not be marketed/priced as such as the bit is so minor. Not like the 7A where it slopes way over.

OK, thanks for that. I knew they aren't really considered obstructed but thought they fell into that same category anyway.

I've only seen 7As on the far ends of the ship. None in the middle.

Not 7A. We have never sailed in a 7A, but have had a couple cabins with the solid white beam on one side. Never bothered us. All were Cat 5.

Just to add another confirmation the 7As are the ones that have the "obstructed" view. And yes, there is 1 forward and 1 aft, on each side, on I believe decks 5-9. Those are our preferred category as the obstruction in some rooms is minimal and you can save a few bucks. The rooms in question by the OP are not considered obstructed views.

All the rooms in 4A are the same price, so with that in mind, I dont want this side pillar, as I feel, (likely irrationally) that this pillar is an obstruction and I'm losing out compared to other rooms in that price bracket.

Thus I'll obsess over it and enjoy the cruise less!

With the earlier post with the room numbers transposed I've been able to move to a room away from the pillars, so now I can park the OCD until something else pops up

Or you could look at it as you gain more privacy on that side since no one could stick a head around?

Hey, I get it. “The Search For The Perfect Cabin” is a recent obsession since the advent of the internet. I have changed cabins a few times myself, looking for that “sweet spot”. I don’t like the cabins at the top, maybe Deck 10, with the sizable overhang above? And on the TransAtlantic cruises, I want the sunny side! Anyway, glad you found a suitable cabin . . Enjoy!
