Cheapest place to buy checks

I've not bought checks in years. Last time I just ordered some from my bank. (I think it was $10 for a box)

Our last order came from the bank...and I still have the first booklet in my wallet. Our bank waived the fee for them (promotion), but they would have been $15 for the carbon less copies. It's been almost 2 years.

Before that, we used Current Checks and ChecksUnlimited. Those orders were 4 boxes for $25-30.

I go online at Walmart for mine as well. I have been very happy with them!

I use Cap 1 360 bank and they will mail a check to anyone for free, have free bill pay, free person 2 person payments, and will overnight a check for $20. I bought a pack of 25 checks from them for a few bucks several years ago (they say ING) and have more than half left over. I had my kids write themselves blank checks because soon they will be totally obsolete and they thought it was novel - kind of like using a corded phone!
Anyway, you could check with your bank and see what checkless options are available; saves the cost of stamps too!

Did they enjoy your version of Carousel of Progress :rolleyes2 :upsidedow?

I don't agree with you but I think it's good you encourage your children to learn and to write. Believe it or not some people still use both .

Anyway OP I think if you just want one box of basic go through your bank. If you wanted to do something more than that believe it or not Bradford Exchange does a beautiful job and very reasonable.
They run sales all the time.

I used Current Checks. They had a pretty good ad in the Sunday newspaper about 8 years ago. I ordered 3 boxes and are about half way through them. Hardly ever use them anymore.

Ordered from Costco last time. They have several Disney-themed options (as well as plenty of others) and are fairly cheap for cute checks. Standard shipping is free too.

I was shocked when I learned what my bank (BofA) was charging me for a box of checks! That's when I came on here and saw a lot of good responses for WalMart, which is where I went. I ordered from them online and it was both cheap and easy, plus I got some cute Disney checks.

If it weren't for my kids... I wouldn't need checks. The only checks I ever wrote for years were for church, scouts, and school. Now that church offers electronic giving I'm good.

School is the worst. My daughter signed up for drill team in June (to begin in Aug). They wanted $250 total for fees, camp, uniform. Starting June 1 I was supposed to pay $50 (checks only!) every 2 weeks. I am low on checks and offered to pay all $250 upfront June 1.

They won't cash that stupid check! It drives me crazy how school wants so many things checks only and they sit on those stupid checks for weeks at a time. And with 3kids, I am always floating checks in my bank account.

Anyway I don't know where the cheapest checks are... Just that I need a new box too!

Just did a remodel of my house. I was surprised at how many companies were cash or check only. And yes, I called them on my corded phone.
I have never paid for checks in 40 years, the bank always provides them free.
My auto mechanic of the last 11 years still is cash or check only. As a one man shop, he has all the business he can handle, and as he jokingly puts it "not taking credit or debit cards keeps the undesirables away" :rotfl2:
But, his customer base is pretty much over 50, people who still change their oil every 3,000 miles, and keep their cars forever. I guess there are enough of us like that out there to keep him in business another 10 years until he retires.

I'd suggest ordering from your bank and learn from my mistake from several years back. It may be different now but it was a lesson I'd never forget. Ordered from Current and they never showed up. Called them and they said they would reissue (great thanks) at the next higher number. Called my bank and they suggested a stop payment for all of the missing checks ... at like $15 a pop! Basically they said if I had ordered from them and they went missing they would do this for free and replace the missing box.

I chose to close my account and opened a new one.

Yes, this is primarily why I also need checks. They constantly need a check for school or a check for sports. Also my dry cleaner and hair dresser don't take visa so it's a check or cash, and I NEVER have cash on me!

Thanks for all the responses :)

I was going to post a similar question, good thing I decided to search the forums. I've read bad reviews for Checks Unlimited, so I think I'll go with WalMart Checks.

I tried VistaPrint, but it won't let me have a PO Box on it (which is my mailing address) :P

Some banks will give you the basic checks (nothing fancy) for free. I know Navy Federal Credit Union and USAA Checking provides free checks in batches of 200.

In the past I have used Costco and was very pleased.
