who has the best cheapest diapers?
when my first son was born we used costco for pampers. then huggies when he got into stage 2.
hes 6. there seems to be a bunch of off brand diapers out there.
anyone have any thoughts on them. pros? cons?
i dont know if the baby is a boy or a girl yet.. does that still matter? used to be that huggies were better for boys and pampers for girls..
man i got alot of relearning huh? :worship:

we use walmart brand for our 2yr old DS. They come in a yellow package. They don't give him a rash and they hold in what they are supposed to so I guess they are fine. We have use many kinds over the past 5yrs that I've had kids in diapers. MY favorite generic are the CVS supreme ones but they haven't been on a good sale since 05/06 when I last stocked up on those.

Pampers are good for the little sizes and Huggies better for the bigger IMO. Luvs stink IMO and I dont' use them because of the smell issue alone.

If you are allowed to price match with Canadian Flyers, as we were when the US $ was equal. Walmart has pampers on for the mega for $8.97.

I prefer the Huggies supreme as my youngest son got older.

I used what ever was on sale for 1-2 size. But the Huggies at Sams that say 1-2 are not really 1-2 they are 1. I went to Target to get size 2. After the kids got to size 3, I used the Sam's Club brand. I figured if they were good enough for my brother who had twins, they would work for my one little baby. I never had a problem and liked that I spent a lot less money.

I wouldn't buy a whole bunch of any (especially off-brand) before the baby is born. Many babies are allergic to anything besides one of the name brands (I've met some parents who had to switch to cloth even though their preference was disposable, but that is few and far between.) Most of the babies I've known with allergies use either Pampers or Huggies.

My DD got a rash with generics and I tried them again when she got older and she pees so much they leak.

For night time around size 3 they make the Huggie Overnights and those have been wonderful for keeping her drier at night. My friend who uses cloth during the day also uses these at night time.

It also depends on your child's build. We went through a stretch where we only did Pampers because she was so skinny they stretched the most and fit her the best.

Anyway, sorry if TMI, good luck with your new baby!

I used Target brand for my son. I recommend them to people all the time. The hold alot and are a good price.

I used the walmart brand. They worked just as good as any of em. I used Pampers with my first. I didnt realize how fat they get after just one pee!! UNTIL I tried the walmart brand. I like them much better!! I think they were the white cloud? Not sure, but I think they came in a purple package.

I love the pampers swaddlers for newborn and size 1. After that I like to use White Cloud or Target brand. I will use Luvs if they are a super great deal, but they tend to leak for me. I get the White Cloud brand at Walmart. They are not the same as the generic(savers choice??) brand at walmart-I hate those and will not buy.

I wouldn't buy a bunch of ANY brand, without trying first. DD couldn't wear Huggies she would leak every time, had problems with Luvs too. The only thing that worked was Pampers and CVS brand which I loved and they are cheap if they work for you and they go on sale. I used to wait for them to be B1G1 and stock up. Usually I would by everything in her size and get a rain check for when I ran out.

I used pampers and huggies with my previous children but have just discovered Target brand diapers with my 4th baby now. I LOVE them and they are half the price of pampers. But like someone else said, I probably wouldn't stock up on any one brand until the baby gets here and you try several brands out to see what you and the baby like best.

Oh, and good luck with the baby! :)

We used the BJs brand for my daughter, but when I used them for my son they leaked all the time. I never liked huggies because they would get that gel stuff all over their bottom (you know the stuff that absorbs the liquid).

So I just use Pampers all the time at BJs and the price is usually a few cents more than the generic brands.

Cloth. Hands down.

Esp if you are going to have more than one child.

AGREED :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Highly, highly, highly rec. looking into it. It is just as easy - no folding, pins, rubber pants, dunking in a toilet- they go on and off just like a disposable.

Check these out: http://www.pinstripesandpolkadots.com/products/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=54&idproduct=4104 for less than $500 you would have all you need for birth thru potty training. And I can personally vouch that these hold like the Hoover Dam--- my DS(17 months) sleeps 12-14 hours at night, and never, ever have we woken up to a leak :) .

(If you want more info, please feel free to PM me)

I have four kids, and over the years I have noticed that you can get away with using whatever brand is cheapest when they are young - like under 1 yr old. After that, the cheaper ones tend to leak, especially overnight. My kids would wake up in the morning soaked. When they are older, I think Huggies work the best. You can always use the cheap ones during the day and then Huggies or Pampers at night - that's what I was doing up until recently when my youngest daughter started potty training. :)

Cloth. Hands down.

another vote for cloth. We originally started cloth diapering because one of my twins constantly had diaper rash. It was awful, didn't matter what brand, what we did, we would slather her in different rash creams and she would still have terrible rashes- I mean to the point that her skin was broken and bleeding. Really terrible stuff. We felt so bad for her. The whole thing was bad- can't let her sit in a wet diaper even for 5 minutes because her skin was in such bad shape, but then again the poor kid screamed every time we would lay her down on the changing table, she was in such rough shape.

When someone suggested cloth I had visions of diaper pins and rubber pants and all that horribleness- it is nowhere near that bad. In fact, it was surprisingly easy, and DD's diaper rash cleared up in a week and hasn't been back. As a nice bonus, once we bought the diapers, there was nothing else to buy- with twins, that adds up! If I were to have another baby, I wouldn't have to buy any diapers- how cool is that?!?!

good luck with the baby!
