We really need to wash the fly for our tent and the instructions I've found all recommend a nondetergent cleanser. The only thing I've been able to find is expensive specialty stuff from camping supply stores.

Does anyone have a recipe for a nondetergent cleaner that I can make from stuff on hand at home?

Thanks!

Ivory soap? (not sure if it's detergent free) You could grate it up and mix it with warm water, or just run warm water over a bar. What about Borax or some baking soda? I've added them to homemade laundry soap before. Also, I know our local grocery store, Hannaford carries glycerin soap which is non detergent.

Is woolite a detergent? Or what about Ivory Snow?

I was thinking Ivory soap too. I guess I'll have a nose around the store tomorrow! We need something that won't strip the water resistant coating from the fabric and seams.
