Cheap camping chairs

I almost bought those yesterday. Then I stopped because--not to be a buzzkill--if you look at the bottom, it says there is a known cancer-causing chemical in the material. Probably nothing but as a cancer survivor I just can't take that chance. However, I didn't know the umbrellas were on sale and they do *NOT* have that indication, so I just bought three of them. Will be so nice for sitting out at spring baseball games. Thanks!!!

Matching Chairbrellas are also $5.99.

Cool, thanks!

I just went and ordered those as well.. This past 4th of July parade, we saw a few people with these type of umbrellas and told dh I wanted those.

Got the matching ones for dd's chairs, then also got matching ones for dh's and my chair (different type of chair, but same color), :thumbsup2

Yea, I saw that and totally understand your view since you're a cancer survivor (congratulations!). I guess I see it though that in this world, absolutely everything is going to be seen as a cancer-causer eventually. Definitely not downplaying your concerns (I'm an RN on an oncology/hospice floor).. but at this point, I guess I'm willing to take my chance.

and it looks like anything containing brass or PVC has those chemicals.

Does anyone have one of these? I read on another forum that they say "Sports Authority" in big letters on the back?

Yep, I know what you're saying. I'm sure I buy things all the time that have cancer-causing agents in them :confused3 but if they tell me it's in there, I'm just going to stay away from it. They had several other chair that didn't have that notation, but of course they weren't that cheap. :guilty:

I've made it through 12 (yes 12) cancer recurrences and been cancer free for 5 years now. I don't take any chances lol, so I just wouldn't want that directly touching my skin.

If I see something that says "may cause cancer" I get worried about purchasing it...
But if it says "CA has found some items that may cause cancer" I don't really worry because EVERYTHING in CA seems to cause cancer. If you check almost anything sold in CA it has the warning that it may cause cancer. CA seems to be a bit over the top.
I am also a cancer survivor and the way I feel is that you can't stop living just to try and prevent. I did everything they say will prevent breast cancer, I have no one in the family who ever had breast cancer and yet I got it.

i received a e-mail today stating my chairs have shipped and i will have them on wedenesday thanks again :thumbsup2

I received a shipment confirmation too and received my shipment. I ordered two chairs, I paid for two, they sent me one. Hope the other comes tomorrow.

Thanks for sharing. I had to order 11 to get free shipping but we needed some for our camper anyway. Ours tend to "walk off" so they will be easy to keep track of with the academy on the back!

I just picked up 4 chairs similar to these without the big ACADEMY logo on the back qt Home Depot for $5.99 each. i didn't have to pay shipping either.

Uh, not to make light of such a serious subject, but - is it possible California causes cancer?

Not only does just about everything sold here have that warning on it somewhere, but signs are posted in almost all public places... stores, restaurants, theatres, offices, apartment buildings and yes, even medical centers and hospitals.

Last time I checked there were approx 800 items on the toxic chemicals list that require clear and reasonable warning under proposition 65, so businesses post warnings everywhere and on everything just to cover their hineys.

and exactly how do they think the chair will give you cancer? Do you have to eat the chair for it to give you cancer? Sit on it naked for months on end? That has to be one of the weirdest warnings I have ever seen.
