Good afternoon, chicas!

Just got a rowdy, stubborn DS4 down for nap, GEESH! :sad2:
Now need to go light a fire under DS8's butt to get him back into reading. We found out from our friends that this year's prize for the county library's reading program is a pair of binoculars, awesome! The girls had already finished their logs and turned them in, so DS got to see and use their binoculars at the ocean. I hoped that would kick-start him into reading again, but alas, he had forgotten to bring any books.

Now that we're home, no excuses! :thumbsup2

I took the boys out to Target and Osh Kosh today. Picked up a few items at Target from their ad, then on to Osh Kosh to find some pants for the boy to wear. He's always at an in-between size at the beginning of the school year, and this is no different. The 7s from last year are too short, and the 8s are too long and way too big in the waist. We tried on some Slims, and those weren't quite so big in the waist, but he had trouble working the button at the waist. Why do they use a button??? Snaps are so much easier! So no point getting pants he can't remove to use the bathroom... :headache:

We still managed to spend over $100 on a few elastic-waist pants (sweats-type) and some long-sleeve tees. OUCH!

I haven't even gone through DS's old size 4 clothes we kept for DS4. I need to do that, in case I need to get different pants for him as well. He is definitely on the slim side, so wouldn't surprise me a bit to find the old pants aren't going to stay on him.

Staley, that's a lovely pic of your two little lima beans. Thanks for sharing! :cutie:

And Shawna, I read through your pre-TR for the WDW trip. How fun to see the pictures of you and your DH when you met, and pics of Morgan and Jake from years ago, so cute!!! :lovestruc

Good Morning Hyenas!!

Took Kaitlyn to ortho, and I'm back to get caught up.

Later on today, I'm going to school to help DD Becky in her classroom. Also continue working on the Drama Room. It still is a disaster from the play. People keep adding stuff in it, and then I have to find a place for all of it.

Thursday, I'm taking my Mom to go see my niece who just moved from Conneticut. She now lives near Thousand Oaks. Pix, don't you live somewhere around there? Anyways, my poor niece has had an overload of problems. First of all, when she unacked their furniture and boxes, they were all water damaged and mildewed. Apparently the storage place was flooded. So everything had to be aired and cleaned as much as possible. So that prolonged the unpacking!!

Then about 5 weeks ago, she had an emergency appendectomy done. Then she had problems with that, and they had to go in again. But she still is having major problems, and just last week she had a hysterectomy, with her ovaries and uterus taken out. And she is suppposed to start a brand new teaching job next week. Well of couse that isn't going to happen yet. Thank goodness the new school's principal is very understanding, and has a retired teacher taking her place until she is well enough to come back. So get aload of this..... She was released from the hospital yesterday, and today she goes back to the doctor to get an ultasound on her breast which has lump that they have been keeping track of. Can anything else happen to her? :sad2: :sad2:

So needless to say, my Sister from Oregon has come to be with her indifinately until she is on her feet again.:goodvibes Because of all of this, my niece has hardly unpacked anything, cuz she can't lift anything. So now my Mom and I are going to try and rescue her. Besides, it's a good excuse to see them. And I'm thankful that my Mom is well enough to travel again. There was a time, last spring when I was beginning to wonder if she was ever going to be well again.

Geesh..sorry I wrote so much. :rolleyes1

 My goodness Melody! I'm so sorry your niece had to go through all of that. :scared1: How awful! :guilty: I hope she is okay and that nothing else happends. Good gravy! :sad1:

To answer your question, T-Oaks is close to me. :)

:goodvibes I went back to the Dr. today. We did another ultrasound, so hubby and I could see the babies, ans so hubby could see that YES. There are 2 of them, and YES... They look healthy so far. :woohoo: 2 little heartbeats, and they are both the same size, and they hate each other already. They are camped out on totally different sides of the uterus. :lmao: :lmao: They are just LOVELY. :cloud9:

The Dr. gave me some meds for my barfies, and just basically said to take it easy. :cloud9: :cloud9: I was sobbing during the ultrasound again... this time because I was so happy that they looked so good. She also said my cervix was closed and long. :thumbsup2

Awww.....the twins first baby pic! :goodvibes Glad to hear the visit went well and that you have meds for the vomitting. :thumbsup2

Hi Alex,

I'm currently on my break. popcorn:: Target was crazy when I went there a few days ago. Lots of kids saying: "Oooh, I want this!!" and their parents getting aggravated with their pleas of desperately wanting a Hannah Montana notebook or backpack or Camp Rock merchandise. :rotfl:

I remember in elementary my older sister and I liked Trapper keepers. :rotfl: We thought they had cool designs for their binders and we liked the velcro flap. :rotfl2: Things were so simple back then huh? :lmao: We also liked Lisa Frank merchandise but I haven't seen that around for awhile. Not sure if it's still around or not. :confused3

Heya, pix! :)

Yes, Lisa Frank stuff is still around, though I think it's more craft stuff and less school-related stuff like folders to color. I've seen beading kits and similar types of things that are Lisa Frank.

Trapper Keepers came out when I hit jr. high, I think, but they were NOT the "in" thing, at least not at my school. I had one for about a year, but it was big and bulky, and it was easier to have different folders for each class than drag that thing around all day. So we'd grab stuff from our locker for the next couple classes (two folders and usually a couple books), then return that after those classes and grab the next couple.

In 1st and 2nd grade for DS, the kids were supposed to bring 2 folders to school. One I guess was to keep in class and hold their work in progress, and the other was for take-home stuff: Homework, school bulletins and the weekly newsletter, etc.

This year (3rd grade) he's supposed to have a 2" binder, white with a clear pocket cover. I assumed this was something to use in class, since they're so stringent on how it looks, but my neighborhood friend says the kids will have to haul this thing home every day! She also said the kids will start bringing books home for homework, and it gets to be quite a load in the backpack.

I've always gotten DS a regular backpack, but my friend said she learned the hard way that starting with 3rd grade, her kids will use the rolling backpack. UGH. Those are so pricey and heavy, I've always said no to those. I guess we'll see if I can get away with using last year's backpack or not in the first few weeks... :guilty:

Awe!! Sure makes it real huh? :cool1:

Hope you get to feeling better soon. Being sick it the absolute pits!!! My last baby was horrible. 3 IV's, medicine, almost hospitalized, lost a bunch of weight, and I was older. Was very happy she came out healthy after all of that. :worship:

I will be praying for you and the little "peas in the pod." Oh, and also for Frelan. I see a very nervous and protected husband in the near future!

Alex, My DD Becky teaches 3rd grade, and today I helped her grade some Math assesment tests. Poor things............there was division, multiplication and fractions on it. So I asked her, why are these on the test, cuz this is 3rd grade stuff. She said it's like a bench mark of where they are now. In a few months they will be tested again, and of course at the end of the year. She said, then you can see how much they really have learned after that. Ohhhhhhhhh! She said it's good for them, and also good for the teachers. An affirmation to teaching, I guess you could say! So when your son is tested, it's just not on what he has learned already in class as in review.................it goes beyond to see if they are ahead and all of that good stuff. The best score was 11 right out of 25, which put the student at 44%. Now usually that doesn't sound too good, but the benchmark for the beginning of school is between 16% and 20%. So he did pretty good! Most kids were right at the bench mark or above, and of course some were way below. She has quite a few English Learners. She even had a new student come, who is from the Middle East, and doesn't know any English at all. And the school doesn't have a translator for her. Poor thing! But thank goodness children learn fast. Becky is going to be challenged with the lack of communication with her.

Good Morning Ladies....just enjoying the nice rain and cooler weather here for a few days.

Wanted to give everyone an update on my nephew. He is doing well and started school Monday. His psychologist gave him the go ahead to start. Understandably, like every other kid in the world, he's not real thrilled to be starting school. But my sis said he had a good day, met a nice girl in the class that befriended him, so is doing well.

BUT...now Tropical Storm Fay is headed their way, so no school today or tomorrow. Which is nice, because he will have gone to school Monday, have 2 days off, go Thurs. & Fri. and then have 2 more days off. A nice way to ease back into the school year.

PM filed guardianship papers in Oregon on Monday. But since my sis filed in Florida first, they will request that the Oregon case be dropped and it be moved to the Florida venue. I guess that's the way it works in the US. Whoever files first is generally what venue it will be heard in.

Thanks to everyone who expressed their well wishes for us!

I had to bribe my son with a trip to MGM aka Hollywood Studios this weekend to get him to school on Monday. Now I am hoping this storm not only stops spinning over my house but it does not turn back and slam harder into Florida just in time for a Disney day. He may be autistic but he NEVER forgets.:scared:

Hey gals!!! Where is everyone? Probably eating dinner, eh? Well.. I slept through dinner time, so I will have to whip up something quick for the kids. Maybe some sandwiches or something.

Just talked to my sister a few minutes ago. They just lost electricity and TS Fay seems to be stalled right over them at the moment. Lots and lots of rain, but hopefully will be subsiding a bit over the next few hours. However, the forecaster's just aren't sure exactly what it's going to do.

Came home and DH had pancakes, sausage & eggs cooking. It is currently 65 degrees and raining. Geesh, if it keeps this up I just might have to fix a pot of beans for supper tomorrow and start making hot chocolate.:lmao:

I am being stalked by a spider, yep, you heard right.

It all started yesterday morning...I was making the bed and a GIGANTENORMOUSHUGICAL spider came out from under the pillows. I ran to find a shoe to squish him, but alas he was a fast runner and disappeared.

So of course being the modern day woman that I am, independent and all, I send DH in to check everywhere for the spider before we go to bed last night.

and I slept horribly all night. Just waiting for this huge thing to come lurking out in the dark!

This morning I'm still watching my steps and on the lookout. Finally I'm almost ready to leave for work when IT happens!

There he is, on the wall behind the tv. So I grab my shoe and try to hit him. But I'm too short and he's way up on the wall! Who's the idiot that wanted a vaulted ceiling in the bedroom anyway?! So I grab the fly swatter. But apparently this spider has 9 lives. I swatted him twice, he curled into a ball and fell behind my dresser.

So I do the only logical thing, search for a can of bug spray. Yep, I know...I'm all into saving the environment and all, but this can was leftover from years ago. So I spray behind my dresser. The little booger runs for the tangled mess of tv cable wires. I proceed to spray tons of spray until I can no longer see him moving.

But...did I kill him?? Nope!! Apparently Not! Because I can't find a spider carcass and now I know that he will be stalking me in my sleep tonight. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Yikes, Sam! I had a spider that refused to die once, it was really scary! I flattened him twice with my shoe, and both times he lay still, then shook out his legs and popped back to 3D, just like in the cartoons! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Hopefully this guy has moved on to the great outdoors now... :rolleyes1

I am just now fixing dinner (spaghetti), since DH worked late.

Hey Megan!!

I went over to Shawna's pre-trippie. That woman is one crazy lady. But I guess that is no surprise.

I am so happy for you and Frelan, but bummed that you won't be joining us next March! Oh well................this is one great excuse not to be able to come. :yay:

Once again, I am sleepy. I think looking at the screen puts me to sleep.

Have a good night!
