Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Had my doc appt today.
I feel like a pin cushion.. ouch!
Flu and tetanus/pertussis vaccine plus a bunch of blood tests.

She is SO nice, the bonus is she already knew I had issues as dh had talked about it on his last visit. Gotta love the family care model for good health care.
Doing a bunch of blood work, start on a med (pre-hypertension, we are being aggressive to treat it with a low dose) and keep on the prilosec everyday (because without it I just love that acid taste in the back of my throat.. NOT!!)

Possibilities..
Fibromyalgia, which was my guess and she found at least 8 tender points.
Lupus, the scary one, but likely to be mild and very treatable
Rheumatoid arthritis, treatable and also mild

And the typical concerns...
Vitamin D deficient
low thyroid

soooooooooooooooooo doc and I are really going to get to know each other as we form an attack plan. :upsidedow

The fun part of the adventure was getting to the clinic and home again safely. The neighboring city has done snow removal on the sidewalks (it's hard pack snow, they chiseled out a path with banks at mid thigh.. rat in the maze style) my city has NOT started. Walking on the street with traffic zipping past is not ideal, had to climb a snow bank when a city plow drove by.

I feel bad for the bus drivers as they have to figure out where to stop to pick up/drop passengers and keep an eye out at each stop. If we get additional snow on top of the hard banks it will eventually be hard to even see passengers on the sidewalks.

I remember one year as a pre teen we had a HUGE snowfall (lake effect snow in Duluth). I would walk on the sidewalk cut out of the drifts and heaped banks of plowed snow, not being able to see the street. Climb up and over the mounds at the street corners.

We are either a very hardy people or just very stupid to live here. :thumbsup2

Sucks to get middle aged doesn't it?:rotfl2: But glad they are gettting a plan of attack together for you and I will hope for the best.

Your snowfall is just crazy! Was watching it on the news this morning. We on the other hand are having a Pineapple Express. That's when the warm wet weather from Hawaii hops on a jet stream and comes barelling straight at the Pacific NW. Yesterday was 60 degrees and I had the windows in the house open. Today I believe is upper 50's. Normally we are rainy at mid 40's this time of year. So a nice pleasant departure from the norm. Of course we usually flood when we get Pineapple Express's (I think up Megan's way is worse). So far nothing other then localized flooding here.

Good Morning!

My mom and I went to Knott's Berry Farm on Saturday. They have the Toys for Tots promotion going on so it was packed! We only went on 2 rides but we did get to see the Snoopy on Ice Christmas show and we spent most of the day walking around the Christmas Craft Fair (which was the main reason we went) so we had a good time.

We left around 6:00pm and headed to Disneyland to do a little Christmas shopping. We ran in DCA to get our Snowman Mickey popcorn buckets with carmel corn then hit Main Street. I think that was the shortest amount of time I've spent in Disneyland (about an hour). :rotfl:

Where are the popcorn buckets at in DCA? They don't have them in DL? I'm going to try to see if I can order one and just have them ship it to me. lol. I didn't know they had those! I don't go into DCA much anymore. I like DL better. :santa:

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. I haven't been on the DIS at all for quite some time. I just keep in touch with you guys on FB. One of my friends said: "You are always running around everywhere!" :rotfl:

Friday I felt kinda bleh and stressed out so I decided to relieve stress by going to the indoor go-kart place I like. I raced 3 random guys that they placed me with (they were older than me and were there with their family for a kid's b-day party). I actually was leading in the race and was surprised. I got to hear my tires squeal when I turned a corner because I braked hard. I felt like I was going to drift for a second. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: That would have been cool.

I've been continuing my hip hop class and she had me assist her for the last 2 or 3 sessions. She had me teach 5 people some moves and I was nervous but they said I was good. haha. She also has been trying to put together a Xmas show that is taking place at a local mall. It's mostly kids who signed up for it (it's free) but I decided not to do that. :rolleyes1 She said: "You should join! I should pinch you for not joining!" :rotfl:

I am looking into taking 1 or 2 classes to get my BA. I still haven't had a chance to look into that.

Oooh, I got custom wheels for my car. It's really awesome and I have gotten compliments on it. A friend of mine said: "You're so ganster!" as a joke. :rotfl2: Maybe I can hit DL or DCA some time during the week because I really want that darn Snowman Mickey bucket. I blame Sarah Moto for posting about it. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2::rotfl: J/k. ;)

So how has everyone been? I miss you guys. :grouphug:

Sucks to get middle aged doesn't it?:rotfl2:
Yes it truly sucks! I told dh going in that I don't want a doc to listen to my list of complaints and say I'm some crazy hypochondriac or they don't believe in fibro (which I've read happens all too often).
It's only been a few hours and she already commented on my first lab results that everything is within norms. The lady is on the ball! I am very impressed! :goodvibes Ruled out gout, inflammatory arthritis is not likely (sed rate normal), kidney function is normal (always good news being the lone kidney ranger), not diabetic (thank you GOD!), my score for the possibility of a heart attack/stroke in next 10 years (based on cholesterol, triglycerides) was 1% .. so pretty good for this rounded lady with really really bad family history of cardiovascular disease. More waiting... sigh.

I'm so jealous of your warm weather. :sunny: Even your normal 40 and rain sounds better than single digits and negative wind chills. :cold:
Though flooding is not so nice, hope Megan is okay.

I've been continuing my hip hop class and she had me assist her for the last 2 or 3 sessions. She had me teach 5 people some moves and I was nervous but they said I was good. haha.

I think you have found a talent that you should nurture into a possible career. Even if it is only a side job, I think you would enjoy teaching others. ::yes::

I admire anyone who can do dance moves with confidence.
We watched a documentary on a class to teach burlesque dancers. Just ordinary women in various shapes, sizes and age learning a group routine and putting together a stage persona, costume and dance. Obviously not to be watched with kidlets but hubby and I were intrigued by all of it. He of course asked if I ever would.. uhh hmm, I dunno..

Look for it on netflix (titled Wink and a Smile) , it was very well done. Some documentaries are so low budget that it is painful to watch.. this was well done and fun.

As one of E's co workers posted on Facebook...
"Another day off, it's a Christmas miracle!" :lmao:
Yep, Minneapolis schools are closed for yet another day as the plows have not caught up from the giant dump of snow. The district decided it wasn't safe for kidlets to walk or bus wait as there are no sidewalks. I'm sure there are streets that are impassable yet too.

One of our neighbors works for sanitation, he said that even the big dump trucks were getting stuck on his route in St Paul.

St Paul posted an apology to the city for the slow progress on plowing.

Small suburb cities say what normally takes 3-4 days, will take crews 1-2 WEEKS to clear from this storm.. the fun part?? It's going to snow again on Wednesday. :scared1:

Only in MN
Prediction time, I wonder how many people will decide to move after this winter? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Morning and happy Tuesday!!

Man B I like snow but I don't think I could take that!! EEK! Enjoy having your sweetie home and stay cozy and drink some hot cocoa and maybe watch some fun christmas movies or something!! :)

Also I hope you get some answers about your medical issues. I know I have had issues for years as well and even have some things bothering me now but since they are not "major" and since I can't STAND my current doctor I am not pushing it. I had a bunch of stuff going on the last few years and had 3 surgeries but I have gotten things leveled off a bit and for the time being I am just keeping things status quo. But I know how frustrating that can be not knowing when something is obviously wrong!! Prayers to you that it is nothing too serious and that you can get some resolution soon!!

Yesterday I had work and the girls were back to school for their last week. Work wasn't TOO bad although mom and I both have really old computers that drive us batty on a daily basis LOL so that is always frustrating esp when you are in a hurry to get something done and they lock up or just plain won't work. Then I went to pick up the girls and the kids from the jr high always get out earlier than the grammar school kids and they are ABSOLUTELY obnoxious. My kids have been going to this elementary school for 5 years now and I have watched several different groups of kids filter through this school and every year there are the groups of obnoxious ones. I don't know WHAT it is about middle school but they are the WORST in my opinion. They think they are so "cool" and they really test my patience. I have seen them picking on the little kids and I saw them torturing a cat and I called the school and they bascially blew me off because it "wasn't on school property". Ok so ok to torture an animal??? What if next time it's a little kid!!! And they all come and park themselves at the elementary and SOME wait for their younger siblings but a LOT of them are there just hanging out with their friends and they are TOTALLY obnoxious. They sit RIGHT next to the kindergarten and they are loud, fighting, cursing and on and on. I can't believe the school doesn't do something. I have complained and I KNOW others have but they just keep letting them get away with it. GRRRR! 2 years ago one of those little jerks keyed my car and wrote in HUGE letters down the side the words DIE not once but TWICE! NOT thrilled with the little twirps. And I am NOT thrilled that my daughter will be GOING to that school next year. UGH!

She DID get into the honors program so hopefully she will be hanging out with a little bit better group of kids. We shall see.

Anyway last night we went to mom's and helped them decorate their tree and then today I have a TON of stuff to do. Lot's of laundry and packing and getting my hair cut.

I am afraid I am going to forget something!! The rain has started in. Still nervous about our trip being ruined by the rain but I guess there is nothing we can do but just hope that it is not miserable.

Anyway have a good day all and B stay warm!! ;)

We're all so proud of you Pix. I know you had a difficult time this past year and we kept telling you it would get better...and it did! You are so busy now and enjoying yourself and most importantly enjoying life. :thumbsup2

Yes, you know you are getting middle age when they don't know what's wrong with you immediately. But instead, they start ruling things out.:rotfl2:

I too have been intrigued by the dancers you speak of and actually went to a store and got a video tape a few years ago. It was actually kind of fun to practice, but I never got up the nerve to do it in front of DH. I wish I would have known you were interested because I just threw out the tape a few weeks ago when I was cleaning out my closet. Anyway, got it at a lingerie shop and it really was fun.

I think Meggy Poo should be ok. It looked like the major flooding was north of Seattle and she's south of there. But our forecast for the next 7 days is rain, rain, more rain, showers, rainy, rain...well you get the picture. One of the big problems is when we get the Pineapple Express it is accompanied by warm air and the freezing level goes way up to about 8,000 feet. That means a lot of the snow on the Cascade mountains melts and starts coming our way, headed to the ocean. Luckily, it's cooling back down again. We can handle lots of rain, just not lots of rain combined with high temps in the winter.

Morning and happy Tuesday!!

Miserable? Miserable? In the Rain???? NO WAY!!! Bernice, Megan, Pix & I enjoyed a little trip there last February in the middle of that big storm you guys had. It was crazy fun! Wasn't it?? :confused3:lmao:

Thanks Kelly, it's hard for me to admit that anything is wrong. It's been my job to be the "healthy one" in our relationship for most of our marriage.. to even GO to the doctor is a big step. Blinders? Denial? hmm yeah... But dh has taken notice and is freaking out thinking all the possible worse scenarios. I owe it to him to figure it out, make sure it's nothing too bad.

Middle schoolers, ahhhh lovely creatures... NOT! It's like they get to middle school and suddenly become brain dead, hormone raging, socializing hoodlums. Not to say EVERY child goes through that phase but when you lump a few of the more problematic together it turns into issues.
As for the middle grades picking on little kids or hanging out on property, that is something we noticed in CA as the elementary and middle school tend to share park space between the schools. It's as if they want to hang about and rule the roost as the "big shots".

You do have to give them a little break. That age group is going thru SO many changes.. hormones/puberty, finding that sense of self identity, making that jump from concrete reasoning (Black- white, yes - no) to the abstract (shades of gray, maybe, I don't know) and socializing with peers is VERY important to sort it all out.

It's up to adults to rein them in and keep everyone safe.
Most schools here do NOT let older students on campus. There is a planned area to pick up "walkers", no wandering allowed. That also keeps the gang recruitment off elementary school grounds in the urban neighborhoods.

Yes, you know you are getting middle age when they don't know what's wrong with you immediately. But instead, they start ruling things out.:rotfl2:

 Not liking this year of being 40, it's like everything went kaput all at once.. argh! :headache:
More results today...
rheumatoid factor - normal
thyroid - normal
ANA (test for lupus) - negative (BUT a negative doesn't mean I can't possibly have it. You can have lupus, be negative but during a flare test positive. Hence why doc and I are meeting every few weeks to make plans. She may have standing orders for blood draw to retest ANA when I am the most symptomatic. Really, not too bad right now. Summer is MUCH worse for me in terms of pain, fatigue, swollen joints)

Fun? rain? hmmm, I distinctly recalling having fun

:rolleyes1 before the two of you arrived (and brought the rain along).
:rotfl:

Meh, it had it's moments of awesomeness to moments of "crap I wanna go home now!" One day of rain is fine and can be totally FUN , days and days of rain --- BYE! I'm going to the mall.

Now that I am having the winter from heck... time to think about a trip.
But where? It needs to be cheap and of course warm. I hope to talk sis into a trip, she looks so frazzled, stressed. Justin and Eloy already offered to help watch her kidlets, just gotta convince her they will survive for a few days. :cutie:

Morning and happy Wednesday!!

Yeah I have been to DL before in the rain as well as DW. In fact it has rained EVERY trip except this past one!! I can deal but when your shoes are soaked through and you are all soggy and sweaty from wearing a poncho or are just plain damp all over it is not fun. Plus having to carry all the extra paraphanalia (ponchos, umbrellas, coats what have you) it is just a pain. And then of course there is the ride closures that can result as well as no parades, fireworks etc.

I haven't been at this time of year in 3 years and don't know when we will be back again at the holidays and so was REALLY hoping to see the fireworks etc and would be bummed if it was rained out but so be it.

We will have fun I am sure but it just makes it uncomfortable that's for sure. The only GOOD side affect is that possibly the crowds will be less!! I guess we shall see! I just hope that the "rain" in the valley doesn't turn to SNOW over the pass that affects us "getting there" on Friday night.

I bought Shane's ticket today and am hoping that that is the last of it. Got us all packed yesterday and will get the car all prepared on Friday morning. I am working tomorrow so I don't have to work the day we leave.

Will just be glad when we are on our way!! ;)

B I hope you find some answers soon! I know how frustrating that must be!

Have a good day all!!

All right chicks.... You know who I am. I had to reset my stuff so I could just do this on the iPad. First post.. Yay. :lmao: I hate having dhs brother here. I want him the he'll out of my house. He is a total piece of you know what. I have threatened dh about five times that I was going to kick the kid out on the street. He is so lazy... Just sit on my couch, eating my food.... Lots of it.. And being a jerk. Grrrrrrrr. I hate him. Only another week and a half and he will be the crap out of my house.

On a somewhat cheerier note, we have been hanging out with some friends of dhs lately, and having a blast. Family stuff, couple stuff.... It's been fun. We are even going to try a trip to the ocean in a couple of months. Hopefully our kids don't scare them to bad. :rotfl2: their eyes kinda glaze over when they walk in our house..... I can't imagine what they will do for a whole long weekend with us. :scared1:

I miss you guys, but I have been in a crap mood lately. Trying to keep it to myself! I can't wait for this kid to get out of my house.

An iPad? How fun! I played with DBF's cousin's this weekend. Kinda want one now. :rotfl:

Sorry your house guest is a pain in the butt. But good to hear from you. :)

STALEY!!!
:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Nice to have ya back!
iPad? ooooo I am so jealous! I drool over those every time we go to an Apple store. Instead I have postage stamp sized screen on my touch.

Oh we can deal with crap moods, that's why we chit chat right? But yeah, I would be beyond irritated and wanting to do some foot to rear action if I had an extra lump sitting, food sucking, mess making body under foot. Heck I get irritated whenever there is any "extra" in the apt, too many bodies in my space and really I don't like to share. :snooty:

I got a sewing machine! Eloy's co woker dropped it off last night. It's a Kenmore zig zag from 1974, all metal body and parts, motor made in japan.
I haven't plugged it in to test it out yet. It had a 20 year warranty, isn't that impressive? You're lucky to get even a year for most items today.

It still had the original booklet which begins with "Welcome homemaker..." :lmao: :rotfl2: love it!

Used a 50% off Border's coupon today for a basic how to sewing book. My sis laughed "don't you know all that already?".. nope. Then she got snarky and replied "most people are born KNOWING how to sew you know." :rolleyes1 Gee thanks for letting me know I am defective! :rotfl:

And the "It can only happen to me" moment of my day:
The clinic patient care supervisor called me about an "incident" that happened on Monday.
I'm thinking oh, now what?!??
Like I got the wrong vaccine or something serious.

No, my pap smear test was thrown out by mistake! :lmao: :rotfl2:
She apologized 10 times over while I laughed my head off. They will tack it on to my next visit, free of charge, take extra steps to make sure it gets processed. I'm sure the MA/nurse got royally scolded for tossing it out.
Seriously, not a big deal. With the timing of my cycle, it will be better on the next visit for a more accurate result anyway.

Good thing my doc is so SUPER nice, fast and gentle. I wouldn't feel the same way if I had a bad experience, I've had two done by male docs that were horrible (largest metal speculum as a young adult.. did not warm up the metal! Are you freaking crazy! and an older doc that totally creeped me out during my miscarriage). Which is why I go ONLY to women docs now.

so uhh yeah.. only me...

I can't even tell you how much I dislike him. Gah. Total butt head. Oh well. He will be gone soon. :cool1: We had Dinner out with James and Missy tonight. It was fun... But it stresses me out to go out with all the kids. I am pretty sure I end up looking a bit like a crazed lunatic by the end of the meal.:rotfl2: But Friday we are going over to their house once the kids are in bed. You know what that means.... Mama is gonna be doin some drinkin!:lmao:

B...:rotfl2: That makes me laugh.

But Friday we are going over to their house once the kids are in bed. You know what that means.... Mama is gonna be doin some drinkin!:lmao:

:woohoo:
:yay:
:dance3:

Party it up!

Warning vent and whine ahead!

My mom finally called my sis about our family get together on Wednesday.
I figured it would be this weekend, but it peeves me to no end that she doesn't tell anyone until 3 days before.. told her before that is NOT an option for most of us. Dialysis schedule, plans, boys activities, my dn work schedule, my sil band schedule.

So yeah.. she calls last minute to say it has to be moved (like we knew it was this weekend right?) because my brother has scouts.

Sis vetoed Christmas Day-- thank you sis! So now we are getting together on New Year's DAY. uhhhhhh, excuse me? What if I have plans on New Year's Eve and don't want to step foot in any vehicle to drive 3 hours the day after?

Not to mention we have a few young adults in our family that I KNOW will be out partying, dnTheMarine will be back from his deployment.. you KNOW he will be out with friends to de-stress!. And I bet my SIL has plans with her band or friends.

But geeze we all had to change OUR plans because one person (who sees my parents all the time) can't come? They would continue with the gathering if we couldn't come... so I don't get it. :confused3
Told sis I wasn't really interested in coming, she scolded me as we didn't go in the summer.. funny, don't recall being invited and didn't know everyone else had gone until a week later. I thought sis family was going to use their boat (kept at my parent's), explains the email from my mom "we missed you".. uhhh what?

UGH!
If it was actually FUN to go to the lake, it would be a different story.
Instead we eat junk and overcooked meat, we hear my dad rag on my mom, and we all sit like lumps trying to talk over the sound of the TV blaring. Gee how nice. :upsidedow

Go home with tummy aches, searching for something better to eat and praying we don't get stuck in the snow. Added bonus of joint and muscle ache for me being cooped up in a car plus super stressed because I can NOT bear to hear my dad yelling. Eloy and I do not argue, we do not yell, we do not mutter hateful things about each other. I feel like I should protect my kids from seeing that type of abuse, to shield myself from that ulcer inducing stress.
VENT/WHINE END

I'm not sure if we are going. I feel obligated as my daughterly duty, but hope we can change things up a bit to make it a little fun. Sis teased about bringing champagne and then having a big sleep over on the living room floor. Wall to wall inflated mattresses. I like that idea! I bet all the "boys" (each of us have teenagers) would love it too. Tuck the little guys into the spare bedroom and stay up late. :thumbsup2

Amaretto coke and white russians here I come.. mmmmmmmm. :drinking1:tilt:

Hi Guys,

Staley- that sucks about your DH's bro. I can picture you parking an X on a calendar counting the days until he leaves!! ;) :rotfl:

That's cool about the iPad. I almost bought one but stopped myself. I have an iPod Touch 2G and it is basically the same thing. I think I will stick to my laptop because at least I can burn CD's on it. That would be awesome if the iPad had a CD-Rom/DVD-Drive :)

My dad flew to China on business and is not going to be back until Christmas Day. I also can't wait to see Bryson again! I love him!! He's so cute! lol. I told my sister I'm going to buy him a present: preferrably squeaky toys since he loves those. Haha.

My contract for my cell phone ends in less than 2 weeks, so I have been contemplating between going with an iPhone 4 or getting a Droid X. I decided to choose the Droid X because it has the same apps and plus Verizon is better than AT&T when it comes to service. A couple people I know keep telling me that the iPhone is fun for games and apps but as a phone, it sucks. It also doesn't have flash (adobe) and the Droid X does. Plus again, I have an iPod Touch so it really isn't necessary.

I found out that there is something you can put on the back of an iTouch to turn it into a phone. It costs $60 US. Pretty cool and I am tempted to try it out. lol.

Anyways, I hope you guys have a good day. I signed up for more hip hop and it starts next month. I really enjoy it and it's a fun and great stress reliever (that and the go-karts). I also have been running around places and hanging with friends, so life is good :)

I am going to hunt down that Snowman Mickey bucket. My older sister said she just wants to eat the caramel popcorn and does not want the bucket! :sad2: Hhahaha!

YAHOO!!! Meggy & the Pixster are back!:thumbsup2

B. I hear ya on the relative thing. DH & I had a little bruhaha the other night about our holiday plans. But we have worked things out for our schedule and I think for the better. For too many years, we have sacrificed doing things for ourselves and instead rearranged our schedule for everybody else. This year, it's all about us.:thumbsup2

I'm running around like a chicken trying to get ready to leave but wanted to say Thank you to Sara for the cute xmas card!! LOVE it!! And we are off to "swim" to LA. May need a boat to get around Disney but hey we will have fun anyway! And heck if we can't go on rides more time to shop!! ;)

Have a good week all and we'll be back Thurs!! :)

We are having Christmas here. I think we are done with family get togethers from now on. We just have to big of a family to visit people. They can come see us! But you should see our line of stockings... My mom will be here, so we have 9 hanging up. :scared1: But one will be leaving Christmas day. Yay!

9 stockings? That must be a sight, did you even have room to hang them all?
 Santa is going to be very busy at your place on Christmas Eve :santa:

I think we have a ride to my parent's, my oldest dn suggested borrowing my brother's car (because as I guessed he and SIL already had plans with her family). It will at least be a little more fun of a trip out there. But if it even hints at being snow.. we are NOT going. We almost got stuck with the RAV and had to be pushed to get up the driveway (long curvy hill, blacktopped but had ice under the snow). My brother has a small car.. I can just imagine spinning tires and wallowing deeper into the snow. I hate that feeling of being stranded and cooped up.. especially with my family! :scared1: :lmao:

My Vitamin D levels came back, total Vitamin D was 27. Norms are above 30, so a little low and of course would contribute to my joint pain issues. But I have a feeling it doesn't explain everything.

We walked a lot at the mall yesterday. I felt okay at the time, tired out but not painful. But today.. I feel like I was in a fight or ran a marathon. Ache everywhere, tired, tight muscles. It work me up early in the morning, went to the bathroom, stretched and back to bed for a few more hours to snooze.
Felt like some old woman creakily getting out of bed to start the day.
Okay, I get I'm 40 and things change.. but less than 2 years ago I felt just fine. :confused3
I get the feeling a little run down after a busy day, having maybe one joint give problems with over use, starting peri-menopause symptoms and feeling a little "odd". But I shouldn't have the same complaints as my mom (71), heck she has more energy than me!

Some days are better. Some days I can walk three times round one level of Mall of America, feel great.

Today is NOT one of those days.
I got tired from washing the dishes.
I can sit at the computer for 20 minutes, then I must get up and stretch out the tension.
I may be 40, but I don't think this is normal.
