Alison, I thought your foot issue was due to low vitamin D?

The massage was a good therapeutic experience, but he really liked to dig for all the tight spots. :headache: It loosened up my back and shoulders which have been incredibly tight and sore. But now it kinda hurts. :o
I think that's just "me" responding to being worked on, I think of it as a long work out on muscles that don't see much action. Just like a workout, you don't see results right away.

I scheduled E and I for 60 minute appts as he is doing a special for $20.. yes really $20 for 60 minutes, craziness but this way he can fill his appt book... and his wallet! Full price massage is a hard sell when people are buying gifts, battling with winter and feeling a little pinched overall. (Though considering the crowd level at Mall of America last week, our economy must be picking up.. at least here in MN anyway.)

If I feel a major difference, we will stick it into the budget as a regular thing. :thumbsup2

Morning and happy Tuesday! Yesterday was a bit crazy. Went in to work and I had a 50,000 error on quick books that I could NOT for the life of me figure out what the heck but it turns out when I was entering one of the commisions I had accidentally hit an extra two and it turned a 5200 comission into 52,000 LOL. Luckily my mom was working on our worker's comp and found the error cuz I could NOT for the life of me find it. Sometimes two eyes are better than one!! ;) Anyway Plus I was trying to balance the check book and there was another stupid error from Oct that MOM had made and I was trying to fix it and QB wouldn't let me cuz it was on a tax payment so it was a FUN accounting day to say the least. I had a nasty headache and ended up going home after I was done working instead of staying and going to lunch with her. I came home and laid on the couch with my ice pack and wash cloth on my eyes until it was time to pick up the girls and never did get lunch and was REALLY wishing I didn't have to take Shelby to piano but alas it never ends LOL.

Then last night Shane needed to change the mailing address on his registration cuz I need to pay it soon and it is wrong and it turns out the date on his OLD reg is wrong and when we tried to fix it online the dmv website wouldn't take it. UGH! So it was just a frustrating night/day all together.

Today is the ship field trip so I am hoping it is a better day. I tend to get seasick in the ocean but this is on the river and I have been on river boats but this is supposedly a sail boat so I am hoping I don't get ill because I will be stuck on this thing for 3 hours (eek!)

Anyway that's my day. I hope everyone else has a good one!

The low Vitamin D was making all of my joints achey, so getting the Vitamin D levels up helped some. But the foot has been getting worse lately. I don't like to deal with more then 1 medical issue at a time, so I finally decided it was time to suck it up and get it fixed. As you may have read on FB, had a lovely painful cortisone shot in the top of my foot today.:scared1: Takes a couple of days for it to really help, so I'll let you know how it works.:thumbsup2

I feel your pain on Quickbooks. While it's a great program and easy to make entries, it's a pain in the keester to void or delete things. Seriously, why can't you just write VOID across the entry and have it reverse everything without 15 additional steps?

Ouch! I've heard they are quite painful but work wonders. Shots were offered to dh if his hip really hurts him, so far he's been able to tolerate the pain with minimal to zero medication. We shall see what happens as we dip into the lower temps, we hit 15 for a high today. C'mon clouds, I can deal without sun for a few days just to warm it up again!

I can understand dealing with one issue at a time. The times E has had multiple appts and referrals all at once or listening to my mom tell of taking my dad to 4 different specialists, heart tests and sleep study plus the VA (for meds) and a pharmacist specialist in one month..... it's just too much to take in!

E gets in a nice stable condition, makes it easy to manage. My dad has multiple issues and it's almost too much for them to handle, I think he needs a nurse case coordinator so nothing gets missed, like not having a cardiologist follow his care after the heart attack a few year ago and no follow up with neuro after his stroke 20 years ago :rolleyes1

Hope the foot feels better soon. :flower3:

I have my doctor appt (FINALLY) next week. I need to make a list of my concerns and E is coming along for the consult part, quickly running out the door when we get into the GYN exam

The massage has made the muscles on various "tender points" to pop up. Eloy was grooving on my biceps "my honey has muscles!" yeah but not from lifting weights. Uncomfortable but tolerable, kinda wish they would stay that way for my appt... I want to be believed when I say something hurts, right now it's obvious those points are irritated. Crazy? Or does it make sense? :confused3

Well tell E. that I now highly recommend cortisone shots. You do have a few seconds of hurt, but I've gotta say how nice it feels to get out of bed and be able to walk across the floor without limping. I was a bit skeptical last night when I was limping worse, but this morning it feels great. Maybe I won't have to have surgery after all. :confused3

The podiatrist was kind of confused as to why I would have this problem for over 5 years and not seek help. Well I did initially, but the doctors didn't figure out what it was. I was told to ice and rest, not wear heels, etc. Then I got cancer and that was the least of my worries. There are times it gets worse, but then it gets better and is just a minor tingling. Lately though, those better times have been increasingly rare though. The Vit. D did help with some of the pain, but I think I really had two issues going on...the low Vit. D and this neuroma.

So I see E. has the same response as my DH on gyn appts. Heck I have a hard time even getting him near the office. I always marvel at those shows on tv where the hubby goes to the ob/gyn appts. when the woman is preggers and getting an exam. My hubby came for the ultrasounds, held my hand when I had a c-section and stayed at the top of the bed when I had DS. Heck he wouldn't even cut the umbilical cord.:rotfl2:

Morning and happy Wednesday.

The field trip went really well yesterday other than the fact that one of the mom's was running late so we had to eat our lunch in the car.

It was a replica of an old clipper ship and it was really fun. It was a perfect beautiful day and ironic because it has been raining for days and yesterday was the ONE break as today it is raining again and is supposed to rain again through the weekend. Old Town was all decorated up for Christmas and it was just really fun being down there and I wished that we had had more time to look around. I am hoping that we can go back down to the governor's mansion again like we did at Halloween because they have a christmas program where they decorate it, have santa and carrollers and I think it will be really fun and festive. I am hoping we can then maybe go down to old town and have lunch and look at all the fun xmas decs. We shall see.

Anyway tonight Shane is taking Shelby and they are going to the soccer game that we were supposed to be in. He wants to watch the teams and see who wins it. The other team is one from our league. Katy is staying home with me. Then tomorrow night I have a xmas party and Friday is my office party. Sat we hope to go do that xmas stuff and Sunday Shane and Shelby are going to a 49er game in SF so BUSY BUSY week!

Last night we went and got our universal tickets so now all we have to do is get shane's Disney ticket (the girls and I have AP's) and then we are good to go next week. It looks like the weather is going to be good. I was a bit worried because it has been ugly and it can be hard to get over the grapevine if it is bad.

Anyway that's bout it for me. Hope everyone has a great day!!

The Grapevine...I have some not so fond memories of that as a child...traveling in a Ford Maverick (cousin of the Pinto) and tossing potted meat and cherry tomatoes out the window.:rotfl2:

We were on our way back from my grandparents in So. Cali. as we did every summer. My grandfather (who lived thru the depression) thought we would starve to death on the 2 day trip home. So packed every inch of our car (already loaded down with luggage rack, mom & 3 kids) with food, lots and lots of food!

At the last minute he threw in a huge paper sack of cherry tomatoes from his garden and a case of Libby's Potted Meat and crackers. Mind you this is late August and it's about a gazillion degrees...somewhere up over the Grapevine my brother decides to open a can of Potted Meat (think cat food and barf mixed together and you sort of get the idea). No air conditioning, so windows are down, but it's well over 100 degrees and now the inside of the car reeks!:rotfl2:

My mother (gagging at 50 MPH) directs me to get that can he opened and throw it out the window NOW! My mother never littered, so I was a bit freaked by this. I get the can, wait until no cars or semis are around and toss it out. However, when I went to sit back down in my seat I accidentally stepped on the bag of overly ripe cherry tomates which are now leaching all over the floor. So, us kids are grabbing handfulls of tomatoes and tossing them out the car window.

And that folks is why I never take long distance car trips with my kids!:rotfl2:

Lol Allison. Your stories are always so descriptive and I can TOTALLY picture that whole thing. Visions of a Girswold family vacation come to mind. I admit I have gotten spoiled and we usually fly but this was a last minute thing and we are going UBER budget driving my car and staying at the hojo and on and on. The few times in the past 5 years we HAVE driven my parents were kind enough to loan us our tahoe so it was at least a LITTLE more comfortable. Riding all that way in my camry is not going to be fun and this is probably the one and ONLY time we will do it but we have the portable dvd player and we are bringing the ice chest and the girls and I will be camped out in the back seat watching movies and munching on snacks so hopefully it won't be TOO bad!!

Like I said though a bad weather day on the grapevine can make even the BEST road trip a nightmare. You can have NO problems the entire drive as it is basically utterly flat the entire way down 5 or 99 from sac ALL the way but then you hit THAT thing on the very last stretch and if they get so much as a HINT of white they seem to shut it down and you are sol!

We have been on it where we had to drive about 10 miles an hour behind a cop zig zagging the entire way down the hill keeping everyone's speed down and we also had a runaway semi nearly run us over coming down the other side. SCARY!!

Fun times!! NOT! ;)

Loved that can meat story LOL. You crack me up!! :)

Ahh, potted meat. Gag worthy product of yesteryear.
We were invited to a "trailer trash" party last year, brought an orange studded with vienna sausages on frilly toothpicks with a side of potted meat on Ritz. The cat would not stop begging when we opened the potted meat, she doesn't even eat canned food. Eloy gave her a tiny bit, she sniffed cautiously, licked it.. put her nose in the air and took off. :lmao: Revolting stuff indeed!

Glad the foot feels better.
Eloy went to all of my OB appts with both boys, stuck his head in a magazine during the internal exams but he was there. During the delivery the midwife called him over, placed his hands on Noah and guided with her hands on top ... it was unplanned and a special moment that we cherish.:lovestruc Neither one of us cut the cord on both boys, I was too busy holding babe and the idea of it creeped him out.

Kelly, sounds like you had a great day for the field trip!
The tall sail ships sometimes come into Duluth harbor, you have to reserve months in advance to board. Absolutely gorgeous, usually the only traffic is ore and grain ships.

I love watching the big ships cross under the aerial lift bridge. I marvel over how far they have traveled from across the ocean, through the locks and the Great Lakes to pick up the grain or iron ore to bring back to far flung places.

Here in the city we have river barges on the Mississippi, not quite as entertaining to watch as they putter along slowly.

We've watched boats cross the locks through the falls... but it's a sllllllllooooowww tedious process waiting for the water levels to change. Yawn.

I've been coveting a Keurig coffee machine ever since I used it for a demo years ago. I scoffed at the high price, my frugal side would not let me part with the cash for a "toy" when I had a perfectly good coffee maker at home that didn't see much action.

I poo-pood the fancy thing and vowed to make more coffee at home. But it never tasted all that good, I would make a pot and it would sit all day. I would forget to dump the grounds and have an icky mess to clean. So I gave up and started buying coffee at Caribou, Dunn Bros or Starbucks.. Ka-ching $$$ wasteful dollars of indulgence for a good cuppa.

This week my local grocery store had the Elite model for $79.
My eyes widened in delightful surprise, I hmmd .. I pondered.. I talked myself out of it.. I talked myself back into it.. the frugal me said "really?"

I went to the store this morning and vowed, if it was no longer in stock.. fine done dead.. not happening. HMPH!

They had 3 in stock.

I plunked down my Christmas money and walked out with my new toy. :woohoo::yay:
Tonight all of us had a cup of coffee and deemed it a worthy investment.
Okay so I had TWO cups, who needs sleep right?

:hyper::tongue:

Morning and happy Thursday!!

B congrats on the Keurig. I don't drink coffee myself but if I did I think I would have to have one of those. I actually thought about getting Shane one cuz he is a huge coffee drinker but between the price of the machine and the little coffees it seemed outrageous. Maybe if they keep getting cheaper I will get it for him for his birthday. ;)

We have a brand new panera that opened up in town and I LOVE them. I had their stuff in the bay area a few times and we were SO excited for them to open. We used to have La Bou but they closed so we have been really anxious for it to open. Mom and I had lunch there yesterday and I stopped at target to get a few cheapie movies for our car ride down to LA. I found a really cool set of Fox movies from the 50's/60's. I love the old sci fi movies from that era and it had 4 of them on there for 8 bucks. Deal!! And I also got another compilation of christmas films. So that should keep us entertained.

Mom and I were supposed to go shopping during the day but things got hectic so she and I went last night. We went to the mall that had the fire and it was interesting to see it since then. They had the section that burned all closed off but even some stores on the complete opposite end were closed I guess from smoke or water damage. I guess pretty much the entire mall was damaged from either smoke or water from the sprinklers. So it was a big mess. I am glad to see that they are open though so the merchants can get back on their feet a bit.

Anyway we didn't have a whole lot of luck finding her client gifts but we had a nice little dinner at the food court and I got a few cute things as did mom for the girls.

Today I am off to run a few more errands and then tonight mom and I are going to the ornament party.

Gotta run the girls to school. Have a great day everyone!!

The machine was $79, I just bought a bunch of K Cups from their website as they give you 2 free packs wyb 2 packs offer when you register your machine. That averaged out to 30¢ per cup.
You can use your own coffee after you buy the My K Cup accessory, that would bring down the price considerably if you get deals on good coffee. I like the convenience, no mess of the pre-filled K cups. (yep I'm lazy!) I wasted more money making a full pot that no one would drink.

Now if he is a serious coffee snob, heavy user.. the Keurig might not be the best option. One cup a day person is the ideal match.

mmmm, I love Panera!
Pick Two: Turkey bravo sandwich and chicken wild rice soup, please.. YUM!

My sister's neighbor volunteers at their church food pantry. Panera donates all of their day olds, too much to give to the pantry users so they bring it home to share with my sis.. who shares the bagels with me. :)
It's usually the "everything" bagel that her kids and hubby won't touch.. I'm like hey bring it on! :upsidedow

Hubby had his appt today, a friend loaned us his car to bring home supplies. So glad we didn't have to struggle with the bus today.

The weather change, being uber busy yesterday shopping with my sis, massage on Monday that made all my tender points on alert, not sleeping (because the husband is snoring with sinus issues --even with the neil med sinus rinse tyvm for asking) ... all of it caught up to me today. :sad1:
Riding in a car was tolerable, riding on a bus and waiting out in the cold would have been too much to handle! :sad2:
Gentle stretching, warm shower and Ibuprofen work wonders for a couple hours. No plans for the rest of the week which will help as it will be bone chilling cold by the weekend in single digits. brrrrrrrrrrrr. I'm tired of winter already.. funny as we have barely begun! :rotfl:

Morning and TGIF!!

That was awesome that you were able to borrow your friend's car. I can't even imagine having to fight all that in those freezing temps. We had that cold snap but it has warmed up quite a bit and last night I was commenting to mom that it was down right balmy LOL. Yesterday I just did more errands round here and then last night we went back out and did a bit more shopping for her client gifts, grabbed some soup at Chillis and then went to the party.

They had a TON of gals there and REALLY great hors douerves (sp?) but with so many people it took FOREVER to do the exchange. They didn't ever freeze an oranment so it could be stolen endlessly and the party went on till after 10!! There were 4 different ornaments that I really liked and I had 2 of them in my possession twice but by the end they were all taken and in the final round whatever was taken was FINALLY dead and so I had to take something I didn't really like but they had these cute blown glass french themed ones that I got for Katy since she wants to go to France for cooking school. It was a lot of fun though.

Now today I am off to work and then we are going to a brew pub that is on the river for our office party and then back to on of our agent's home for desssert and to do our gift exchange. Then tonight we have our 2nd to last indoor game but it will be the last one for US since we leave next Friday for DLand. So busy day today.

Hope everyone has a great day, stays warm and has something fun planned for the weekend!! :)

I tooled around with sis today, bought nothing except a new water filter while I watched her spend money. I told her we are NOT buying gifts for extended family... just for our boys and ourselves. Hoping she got the message as I feel bad when family spends money on us and we don't reciprocate.

We are under a winter storm advisory.. duh we live in MN what do you expect in winter? SNOW!!!

"SNOW DEVELOPING BETWEEN 9 PM CST AND MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT...WITH SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AFTER MIDNIGHT
TONIGHT AND LASTING INTO SATURDAY EVENING.

* MAIN IMPACT...10 TO 16 INCHES OF SNOW...ARE LIKELY ACROSS
CENTRAL MINNESOTA AND THE TWIN CITIES METROPOLITAN AREA.

* OTHER IMPACTS...HEAVY SNOW ON SATURDAY COMBINED WITH
INCREASING WIND SPEEDS MAY RESULT IN NEAR BLIZZARD
CONDITIONS... ESPECIALLY IN OPEN COUNTRY. WIND CHILLS WILL
PLUMMET TO AROUND 30 BELOW ON SATURDAY NIGHT. "

hmm, how lovely  NOT!

Justin gets a reprieve from his ACT test Saturday, nearly every test center in MN and WI is closed because of the storm.
It will be a sit at home and see what happens kinda day.
The snow I don't mind, it's the temp drop after the snow that is the issue... high of 2 (low of -11) on Sunday. Sigh.. I am so done. just done!

Time to watch and laugh at the domino guys stuck in the lot.
Someone in a city truck (with plow on front) was picking up pizza, took pity and took a quick swipe thru their parking lot. That was 2 hours ago, it has now filled back in again with the continuing snow fall plus blowing snow.

The bakery thrift lady closed early, don't blame her as I doubt she had anyone even cross her doorway all morning.

Meanwhile, E is scratching his head.. a little miffed.. as the caretaker putzed in the parking lot shoveling a path (but the plow had already made one swipe) but didn't shovel the steps on the front or back of either building. :confused3
I don't get why the caretaker gets nit picky about some small thing but overlooks the obvious and yes it peeves me too.

Someone posted an online code for $5 off and free ship at One Stop Plus (they carry plus women's like Woman Within and Avenue plus a few other oddball stores) on slick deals. It works on all the clearance stuff and can be used multiple times, I placed 10 orders for $11... here's hoping they all clear. :thumbsup2
Tanks, tees, polos, quilted spring jacket, capris, comforter, gift bags, and a set of melamine dishes/silverware (for Justin's "move out some day" stash).
I may be stuck inside until Monday, doesn't mean I can't bargain shop in the comfort of my bed wrapped in an electric blanket (ahhhhh, my muscles and joints are much happier with the warmth and rest ).

Hi guys! Congrats on the new machine B...being the mother of a college student (that automatically makes me poor!) I will just have to live a couple more years with my plain old brewed coffee and $2 coffee creamers. SIGH.

Got the majority of my xmas shopping done yesterday.:yay: We got up at 4:30am and hit the stores. I did the Dave Ramsey Christmas shopping plan and it worked really well.

Here's his plan:
1. Get an envelope and write each person's name on the front.
2. Decide about how much you want to spend altogether.
3. Allocate those amounts on each person's name.
4. Fill the envelope with cash.
5. When it's gone...it's gone and you're done!

I was a bit more flexible with my budget. I hoped for $700, but realistically $1,000. But not a penny over the $1,000! I think I've spent around $700 so far and just have a couple more things...so I'm thinking I might be able to get in around $900 (including stocking stuffers).

I think it's funny looking back when we were young, penny pinching poor and didn't have bank accounts with debit cards we used envelopes to manage our money. Cash for every purchase, money orders for rent and bills. Long before the wonders of the internet and knowledge of Dave Ramsey's "system". :lmao:

What is old and simple to use is new and cool again. :cutie:

Morning and happy Monday!

B that was absolutely crazy what happened in your town with the blizzard and the dome and all! Hope you survived the craziness and stayed warm!!

It's actually been unseaonably warm here. Overcast and foggy but in the high 60's.

We had a great time this weekend. Went downtown on Saturday and went to the governor's mansion and it was really neat to see it all decorated and see Santa and Mrs. Clause. Then we drove by the capitol and took pics with their tree and then ended up in Old Sac and had lunch at Joe's Crab shack YUM and then walked around and looked in the shop and took some pics of THEIR decs. It was fun. Then yesterday Shane and Shelby went to a 49er game and Katy and I stayed home and did some errands and then mom had a bit more shopping to do so we went with her.

So it was a nice kick back weekend with GREAT weather.

Today starts the last week of school for the girls before the break and I am off to work myself. I am working today and Thursday instead of Friday since we leave Friday and I still have to pack and get the car ready etc.

I need to get my hair cut in the next few days and get all my last minute stuff done.

We are off to mom's tonight to help them decorate their tree and have dinner and then not much else planned this week till we leave.

The only bad part is it is supposed to rain the ENTIRE time we are supposed to be at Dland as well as I have heard the crowds have been AWFUL so it is not sounding like the best time but we will make due. I just hope it doesn't ruin WOC or the fireworks/snow. I haven't been at the holidays in 3 years and was really looking forward to that! I figured we wouldn't be able to go on tons of rides and I am fine with that but I DID want to see the holiday stuff so hopefully the weather doesn't affect that too much.

We are also going to universal one day so I am looking forward to that. Haven't been there since 06 I believe.

Anywho hope everyone had a good weekend and got lots accomplished and didn't get blown away or buried in snow.

Take care and talk soon.

Good Morning!

My mom and I went to Knott's Berry Farm on Saturday. They have the Toys for Tots promotion going on so it was packed! We only went on 2 rides but we did get to see the Snoopy on Ice Christmas show and we spent most of the day walking around the Christmas Craft Fair (which was the main reason we went) so we had a good time.

We left around 6:00pm and headed to Disneyland to do a little Christmas shopping. We ran in DCA to get our Snowman Mickey popcorn buckets with carmel corn then hit Main Street. I think that was the shortest amount of time I've spent in Disneyland (about an hour). :rotfl:

Had my doc appt today.
I feel like a pin cushion.. ouch!
Flu and tetanus/pertussis vaccine plus a bunch of blood tests.

She is SO nice, the bonus is she already knew I had issues as dh had talked about it on his last visit. Gotta love the family care model for good health care.
Doing a bunch of blood work, start on a med (pre-hypertension, we are being aggressive to treat it with a low dose) and keep on the prilosec everyday (because without it I just love that acid taste in the back of my throat.. NOT!!)

Possibilities..
Fibromyalgia, which was my guess and she found at least 8 tender points.
Lupus, the scary one, but likely to be mild and very treatable
Rheumatoid arthritis, treatable and also mild

And the typical concerns...
Vitamin D deficient
low thyroid

soooooooooooooooooo doc and I are really going to get to know each other as we form an attack plan. :upsidedow

The fun part of the adventure was getting to the clinic and home again safely. The neighboring city has done snow removal on the sidewalks (it's hard pack snow, they chiseled out a path with banks at mid thigh.. rat in the maze style) my city has NOT started. Walking on the street with traffic zipping past is not ideal, had to climb a snow bank when a city plow drove by.

I feel bad for the bus drivers as they have to figure out where to stop to pick up/drop passengers and keep an eye out at each stop. If we get additional snow on top of the hard banks it will eventually be hard to even see passengers on the sidewalks.

I remember one year as a pre teen we had a HUGE snowfall (lake effect snow in Duluth). I would walk on the sidewalk cut out of the drifts and heaped banks of plowed snow, not being able to see the street. Climb up and over the mounds at the street corners.

We are either a very hardy people or just very stupid to live here. :thumbsup2
