Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Eloy went to his primary doc today, he hadn't gone for over a year so they kept calling and asking him to call back .. finally they sent a letter and I nagged him to make an appt. :thumbsup2

Added yet another diagnosis to the list, I did the "told you so" stare :snooty: when I read his report. Now he HAS to quit smoking, he is starting by cutting back and replacing with the nicotine gum. The gum isn't all that great for him either but it's a starting point as the oral med he can't have due to his history of seizures (besides it never worked for him anyway). And an inhaler before exercise.

He told her his hearing has been "off" in one ear. She said that hearing loss is common in dialysis patients  weird, never read of that one before. He has a referral to an audiologist and ENT.

Likely some new meds too.. ahhh the joys of having a messed up aging body

Hubby said it was a good visit, she took a very long time going over each concern and offering advice. Finally a doc who understands my hubby! Doesn't preach, doesn't scold and listens when he says something isn't right. :yay:

Oh that is so awesome, sounds like he's found a good doctor. And yay that your husband is going to quit smoking!! Thankfully you seem to have the patience of a god, you might need it.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I don't think he would agree with you so far.

I gave him the evil glare and commented when he went out for yet another cigg just an hour after his prior one.

"Is that an essential cigg or just because you are bored cigg?"
His reply " it's essential because you are bugging me about it" :scared1:

:rotfl:

Oh boy, this is going to be a fun ride for awhile. Nicotine deprived dh and a cranky wife with joint pain from the heat/ humidity. Lots of fun at the Garcia's, stay tuned for any violent crimes in the Twin Cities. :rolleyes1 We may make the news.

I'm glad your DH found a better doctor. Hopefully this office will be organized so you don't have to "go back in time" for records! ;) That's good that the doctor listened as well. :thumbsup2

I hope we don't see your house on the news! :scared1:

 Coffee Bean!!! I'm a N. Cali girl so I don't get to visit them often

Jamba - yesterday at Costco I found they sell a big pack of Strawberries Wild frozen mix. Blend it up with apple juice or milk - yum! Much cheaper than Jamba too :) Now, if only they sold more flavors....

OH YEAH TDASH!! making it yourself IS cheaper!!! and less calories cause you know what you put in it!! nd u can mix and match :thumbsup2 good call.. and two speeding tickets may or maynot get you higher insurance.. it depends...but it will put points on your driving record..

Ugh... We just got from the ER. Jasmine was running into the living room after her nap, tripped and fell into the rocking chair and busted her head open. I was trying to find someone to watch the other three kiddos so we could run her to the ER, and my mother in law just happened to stop by right at that moment. So she watched the kids, and hubby and I took Jazzy in. She got three stitches, and is doing a-okay now. SO SCARY! Thank goodness my husband just happened to get sent home from work today. He was napping, and as soon as I busted in the room he was up running for me. Its funny how he can tell when it is an emergency like that. GAH! Im tired now!

yesh nothing like having the crap scared outta ya when you see your little one get hurt. I hate that lurch in the stomach feeling when you see them get hurt, they are silent for a good few seconds and you think OMG!! and then the pitiful wail. Breaks my heart every time.

Mama needs some icey melty adult drink to calm her nerves now. :faint:

Megan, I'm glad that Jasmine is okay!:grouphug:

Morning and happy Friday everyone.

Bernice I am glad that your dh had a good doc appt and GOOD luck on the smoking thing. I know that is hard. My dh has quit off and on for years now but I think he is still doing it behind my back (grrr) easier that way then having to face the wife LOL. Plus now he is back to chewing which is a nasty habit and just as bad as I am concerned. Nicotine is nicotine. But I am so tired of having the same old argument. He is a grown man and he is going to have to figure it out for himself. I hope the gum or patch or whatever he chooses to do works for him and I will be watching the news for any reports of WW3 in MN!! ;)

Megan that is scary about your little one but glad she is ok! I think it must be a right of passage for little ones. Shelby decided to carry our full grown cat up the stairs when she was 2 and she got RIGHT to the top step and the cat did one of those inside out turns and it made shelby fall BACKWARDS down the stairs head over heels. She didn't roll down like a normal person she went head to toe. I was on the phone at the time dealing with trying to sell my van and I SCREAMED bloody murder and threw the phone down and it was like a movie. It seemed like it all happened in slow motion and I thought for SURE my child would be paralzed or worse but she only had a busted chin. We took her to urgent care because we knew the er would be hours on end and she needed internal AND external stitches and I almost fainted trying to hold her head LOL so it was a lovely experience. And then Katy did something similar. I honestly don't remember if it was before or after Shelby's thing but Katy and Shelby were chasing eachother around the living room and Katy fell into our end table of course RIGHT into the corner in her mouth. The corner went into her gums and there was SO much blood I thought for sure it knocked her teeth out. Honestly it was worse then the stair thing because she was wailing and the blood made it so I couldn't see if she had any teeth left. Luckily they told us to take her to a dentist instead of the doctor and she just bruised it up really bad and although there was a gash you can't really stitch up the gums where it was so it just had to heal. She had a big black bruise and her teeth turned black but she was none the worse for wear.

SO far majorly knocking on wood here, neither of them have broken a bone!!! But with both of them in sports I don't know! I am not looking forward to THAT day!

We had a fairly productive day yesterday. Katy got dropped off from her friend's and she had a GREAT time. I was really happy for her since as I mentioned she nevers get to do that. Then we ran out to run some errands and got our hair cut and the girls have been bugging me for days to try pinkberry ( a yogurt shop) so we did that and it was YUM! They have lots of fresh fruit for toppings and I like the flavors as well. I had pomegranete and coconut with fresh mangos, kiwi and coconut on top. YUM!!!!!

Now today I am just off to work again and then tomorrow we are going up to my cousins house to visit with her brother and his wife who are coming down from WA. She has a pool so the kids will get to swim so they are happy bout that. Shane may or may not get to come since he has to go to the soccer clinic but he said it may end in time that he can come later. So we shall see. Then we were talking about a movie but not sure if we will do that tomorrow night or Sunday or not at all. I have a few errands that I have been really wanting Shane to do so I am hoping I can get him to do them on Sunday. We have several bags of clothes that have been needing to be dropped off at the goodwill and they are way too heavy for me to lift and then we have a bunch of recycling also that needs to be taken in and again they are great big bags that we use his truck for soooo I am hoping we can do all that this weekend!!

Anyway that's all for me. Hope everyone has a good Friday and that you have something fun planned for your weekend!!

There's another big fire buring right by me. :sad2: Well not right by me but right by my work. I think it is 0-5% contained. Started around 2 or 3pm yesterday.

Last night DBF and I and a friend of ours drove up one of the mountain roads close to the fire and DBF got some pretty good pictuers. He has a fancy (expensive) Nikon SLR camera.

I had a coupon for a free Frappe from McDonalds. Tried it this morning, it was pretty good. I got the carmel one.

There were some fires here recently too. I hope that it doesn't spread further.

I never tried a frappe from Mc D's but it looks tasty. I'm not used to the word "frappe" I always want to say frappuccino. :rotfl:

I agree, sounds like a coordination issue. Maybe a motor planning concern that you can bring up at PT? Being part of a team, even if he lacks the ability to perform tasks as well as other kids, is good for him. Listening and following directions, staying on task, being part of a group, social skills. Think of it as another form of therapy.

There are quite a few really good books with ideas to help children with sensory issues. Check your library and ask for inter- library loan if they don't have it in stock. My sis picks up medical volumes, study papers, etc. at her tiny local branch.

Some good ones come to mind:

The Out-Of-Sync Child: Recognizing and Coping With Sensory Integration Dysfunction

The Out-of-Sync Child has Fun: Activities for Kids with Sensory Integration Dysfunction

Growing an In-Sync Child: Simple, Fun Activities to Help Every Child Develop, Learn, and Grow

Sensational Kids: Hope and Help for Children with Sensory Processing Disorder

Good luck and I hope you can find some answers.

Awesome!!! Good news is his IEP expires near the beginning of the school year - so I am going in armed with information on SID. I am hoping he can actually get more services this way - as a SEVERE speech delay just isn't enough to qualify :confused3

On another positive note - the kid LOVES football - and looks so cute in his full pads and helmet!!!

Last night I went to a local cupcake shop. They are fairly new and I tried their tasty cupcakes before :) They were on the show Cupcake Wars on the Food Network and won! :yay: They have good cupcakes and the buttercream frosting is very light and isn't overwhelming or too sweet. For 2 days only, they are selling a snack-pack box of 4 cupcakes that they made towards the end of Cupcake Wars. I bought one box:

From the top (left-right): strawberry smoothie cupcake, a chocolate one that had a rasberry buttercream in the center, red velvet with licorice, the last one had mini m&m's inside with some nuts or peanut brittle and the top had chocolate buttercream with homemade caramel popcorn on top.

I wanted to try this cupcake (it's a banana with caramel). It was tasty too :)

IMG01554-20100729-1854.jpg

I brought the cupcakes to my parents house and me, my dad and brother consumed it all. I shared it with them because I would have eaten all the cupcakes myself! :rotfl:

Hehehehe.. I would have locked myself in my room and eaten them all. :lmao: Im just greedy and piggy like that!

I got up super early this morning to take the hubster to work so I could run some errands. I had the WORST time falling asleep. Not that I have ever been a great sleeper, but really. Why can I never get to sleep on mornings that I have to get up really early? I wish I was like my husband and just able to fall asleep easily. Of course I had a bit of a stressful day yesterday, so that didnt help. I was also a little irked at our friends.. I GET that they have tons going on. But I was there for them with everything through the trips being in the hospital, and fights, and anything they need. I asked them to watch the kiddos yesterday so we could get to the hospital, and they didnt even have the courtesy to answer me. I messaged via FB. I KNOW he was online, because I asked him one thing, he answered, I ask him if someone can come over and watch the kids.. NOTHING. Ummm.. Okay. I wouldnt ask if it wasnt an emergency. At least jump back and say screw you, your on your own! You know? Sheesh. THen they didnt even bother to ask how Jazzy was doing. :sad2: It really hurt my feelings more then anything. Like.. WOW. I can be there for you when you have a hard time, but god forbid you even answer me when I ask you for help. Whatever.

Oh believe me, I was very tempted to just scarf down those cupcakes right when I walked out of the store! :rotfl: :lmao:

I'm sorry about your friends not responding to you. That really sucks. :(  I'm not saying your friends are like this, but there are some people who just expect you to meet their needs yet don't give back in return. :-/ All they do is take and they become selfish.
