Chatterbox Thread-Cmon in and Jabber! Everyone is Welcome!

Spending a nice quiet Thanksgiving at home. Something we never do, so that's kinda different for us. Spent several hours today baking pies and getting things ready for the big feast tomorrow. I bought a 20 lb. turkey! We'll be enjoying lots of leftovers for quite some time...especially since DD and her BF will be eating two dinners tomorrow. So basically 3 people eating that huge turkey.:rotfl2:

Hopefully you get the machine problems figured out soon B. Figures things go haywire over the holidays doesn't it?

Hope everybody had a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Hope everyone has a nice feast for Thanksgiving and enjoys visiting with family and friends. Safe travels to all, it's snowing again here, about another inch and it's beautiful to see all sparkling under the street lights.

Each year at the dinner table we go round and ask "What are you thankful for?" This year....
I am thankful for my friend Chris.

He introduced me to Eloy and without his sly orchestration of events  I would never have met the love of my life :lovestruc
He has battled severe pain for many years related to a botched hip replacement at age 15, ongoing medical and mental health concerns for the last few years. Chris has his demons, but he also has a wonderful laugh and a soul that reaches out to welcome many friends into his life.

I found out today that Chris is in critical condition on ventilator support.

His mom and sister will be coming on Friday, possibly making a decision to remove the ventilator. I don't know the details of what happened.
I just hope that Chris knows of the love and friendship many of us have enjoyed with him over the years... and if this is his time, that he finally will have peace and rest.

Thank you Chris.

:hug: He sounds like a wonderful person B. I will pray for him as well as his mom & sister and the difficult decision they must make.:hug: He sounds like a great person and wonderful friend.

Happy Thanksgiving to All!:):):)

Stopping by for a quick second. B many prayers for your friend!!

Allison have a wonderful thanksgiving and B and Lynn too! As well as anyone else who is checking in.

Lynn yes I am doing a TR it is over on the DW TR boards. I have up to day 5 done. Mine aren't real detailed and not tons of pics cuz I just don't have tons of patience LOL.

We are about to go over to mom's here in a minute. We went and saw HP on Tues and while I liked it it was pretty long and I started to fall asleep towards the end LOL. But I did like what I saw and I know I will appreciate it more when I get it on video and can watch it without falling asleep. ;)

And yes Lynn that pic is from HP. We LOVED that and the Forbidden Journey was the most awesome ride I have ever seen although it made me really motion sick. I LOVED it but don't know if I can go on it again. It is really cool though!

Anyway have a GREAT day guys. We are going to put up our tree tomorrow and hopefully go see tangled. Then possibly go up to Truckee and let the girls play in the snow on Saturday.

Take care and talk soon.

So I just had my first experience with Skype. With my sister's lap top we were able to speak to and see her boyfriends family in Pennsylvania. My grandma at first didn't get it. She thought she was just watching a video or something. :lmao: We kept telling her they could see and hear her too. That it was live Lol.

Yesterday when i woke up it hurt...today it's excruciating. It's swollen, painful & I cant type with that finger. sucks cuz i can barely get anything cooked.

so in my future posts there will just be a blank space for those letters.

We are st sitti g ere waiti g for t e t rke to fi is cooki g. It's taki g lo ger t e s al.:lmao:

so my right index finger is messed up.

I wonder if you sprained it? And how in the world did you do that??

shhhhhhhh

(secretly it's just fine, she is just trying to get out of doing any more cooking and cleaning) ;)

We had an early meal, over stuffed ourselves and came home. It was way too noisy, lil guy was having a screaming fit, middle child kept asking for pie and my BIL channel surfed between the football game (snnnnooooooorrrrre) and holiday programs.. flipping with each commercial. (Hence the screaming fit of lil guy who wanted to watch a cartoon) Plus the dog seeking attention and treats.. go away, no really go away, noooo bad dog, go away...

Came home to the sounds of the cat complaining we were gone.. she quickly hid when she realized dn was over too. :lmao:
I tried to use Facebook but felt drag down tired as I hadn't slept well for several days in a row. (And the whole thing with my friend Chris was floating thru my mind, interrupting my dreams)
I gave in and slept for 2 hours, not a refreshing nap but enough to feel like I can form coherent sentences and interact with the world again.

We might go shopping Friday, but not at 3 am.. heck no! It's cold out there!! :cold: Nope, that's for the serious shoppers, we are the mere onlookers to the craziness. Critiquing humanity at it's commercialized worst. :thumbsup2

That's awesome! As awesome as Shawna's typing with the broken keyboard. Stupendous creative cleverness.. you score high!

:woohoo:
Mickey Bars all around. !

:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar

But oops.. they keep getting eaten!

Darn those invisible mickey bar eaters of the smilie world.. curse you!!!

Ya ya.. I'm bored. :)

Howdy Hyenas!

I just got all caught up!

Bernice, I am so sorry about your friend Chris.

Lynn, Hey, it's cold here. How about by you? Just wanted to share about my DD Becky. She did fine going first thing to a 4 year school. But then she has always been very self sufficient and independent. Now Kaitlyn, my other DD, not quite as much. NOt sure what she will decide to do yet. Even the ones you think might be OK, can be overwhelmed and lose it. I guess, you do what you did, and sometimes you find out the hard way.

Megan, Good grief woman!!! :upsidedow Did your BIL Cliff turn up? Did he enjoy his American Thanksgiving? How long is his visit?

Alison, Have you had any snow yet?

Kelly, How was your trip?

Well, this week we got our bathroom remodeled. Yee haw! Just in time for our Thannksgiving gathering. Today, I lazed around and ate goodies for breakfast and lunch. :rolleyes1

Going to DL this Friday with my whole family. I am so excited! :goodvibes

Alison: Noticed your post on Facebook, it takes talent to get a mysterious infection. :thumbsup2 hope the finger is feeling better now.

Hi Melody! :)

I was waiting to read an update on Facebook regrading Chris, no updates so I searched and found someone's journal entry online that yes he was removed from ventilator today. It hits a little hard as we are the same age and of course dh has all of his health issues.

DH was on vent for over a week following a lung surgery, it was a horrible scary time. I would never wish upon anyone to witness a loved one in that condition. In fact he had it on his advance directive no ventilator, he verbally agreed to it under duress (while in pain). In this case it was a short term solution to allow the lung to heal. It made us re-think his advance directives, we talk about our wishes and concerns frequently.. I suggest everyone do the same, life is precious.

Chris wasn't an easy person to like sometimes but we thank him for bringing us together and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.
No more pain, only happiness and peace.

B I am so sorry for the loss of your friend!! Prayers to his family and yours!!

Mel we had a GREAT time. I am doing a TR on the DW TR site.

We had a great time yesterday doing a little shopping and then went and saw Tangled. It is REALLY good. We were supposed to go up to Truckee today but it is storming and I am not feeling too hot so prob will pass.

Hope everyone is good. Talk soon.

Hi Melody,

Yes we have had snow, it finally all melted last night. Kind of unusual for this time of year. Don't know where that global warming is taking place, but it's certainly not here.

Was thinking about you the other day and wondered how your sister was doing? I'm assuming she's back from her trip. Did she make it to the center in San Diego?? She is in my prayers.

Alison: Noticed your post on Facebook, it takes talent to get a mysterious infection. :thumbsup2 hope the finger is feeling better now.

So sorry about Chris. So hard to lose someone that holds a special place in your heart.

I agree with you about the advance directives. Watching my mother be on a ventilator was difficult. Luckily we all knew her wishes so while it was a sad decision, it was not difficult to know what to do, because she had talked about it.

I have hesitated to do an advance directive, because I think it's so hard to know all the complexities of a medical problem. It's so hard to make it a yes or no decision. If possible, everybody should talk about it with their family & then let the family make the decision based on what they understand about the situation.

B I am so sorry for the loss of your friend!! Prayers to his family and yours!!

We've had snow and more snow, no one bothered to shovel with the last round. It wasn't much but now it's crunchy and mashed down onto the sidewalks. Nothing new for us, crossing fingers and toes that it stays in the comfy 20's and no dips into the negatives this season.. sigh, a frozen girl can dream right?

I think we are going to buy a used sewing machine. :cool1:
There are a few at the thrift store- 60's era all metal White brand, obviously will need cleaning/oiling. But the old models are heavy duty, made of all metal parts, and worth the small investment. Or I noticed a few on ebay where the seller owns a sewing shop, does all of the refurb, tons of detail and extra supplies in his ads. I did ask if hubby wants a computerized model. But he wants a basic one that he can sew multiple layers and beat to heck, not feeling guilty if he breaks it. :lmao:
I haven't used a machine since junior high, it will be a learning experience for us both. I want to make swaddling blankets for SIL and then tackle some pillow covers, aprons and other small projects. Something to do in the hibernating months. ;)

Bernice,
Today we drove to the mountains to buy our Christmas tree. Snow everywhere, and as we were leaving it started to snow. So pretty.

Ali, Thanks for inquiring about my sister. Actually things are not good. Had another cat scan this week and the cancer has spread. I just learned last week, that she has lived longer than predicted. I get pretty teary eyed at times. Today was a hard one, so it's nice to know that others are praying and thinking of you. Thankyou!

Kelly, I going to check out your TR!

Morning and happy Monday!

Back to reality today. It has been so nice having this LONG break. After being off so long in Florida it was nice to come back and have yet another week off for the girls school break. It was really nice to relax and not have them be back in school and to kind of be able to get back to normal a bit from our trip.

All good things must come to end though and today is full on back to reality LOL. The girls have school and I have to go to work. Luckily the only good part is it is min days all week for parent teacher conferences. And I am still feeling really crappy. Mom got sick while we were in Florida (she manages to do that every time) and she gave it to me. Some type of cold that doesn't want to go away. And so I am glad I am only going to be out for a short time. The only part I am NOT looking forward to is having to go BACK out later this afternoon to take Shelby to piano. And her teacher wants to make up for the 2 lessons she missed. One while we were gone and then she missed LAST monday because HE was out of town. The only problem is if I don't get Shelby's conference apt today (her teacher didn't give me the list till we were already gone for our trip) then I won't know when to sched it. So we shall see but I am not looking forward to it. I know she needs to make up the time but honestly this week I don't feel like it LOL.

Plus we have our soccer end of year party tomorrow night and a big tournament this weekend. It is supposed to rain starting on Wed through the weekend so I don't know how that will affect the tournament but the girls are supposed to play 2 games on Sat and one on Sunday so I guess we shall see. Depending on the weather and how I feel I may not go.

After this week the girls have 2 more weeks of school and then they are off again and we leave the day they get out for Disneyland. Believe it or not I am really excited because I can't wait to see it all decorated for the holidays and it will be a fun road trip.

We will only be gone a few days and when we get back it will be Christmas.

Anyway that's bout it for me.

Hope everyone had a good weekend and take care.

Mel continuing to keep you and your sis in my prayers. ((hugs))
