Dang! I just put my dues and my pay off of my contract on my existing CSR thinking it would never code as a hotel. Bummer! But thats awesome for you!
Do you have to split the charges for the $300? When it says that you won't earn points on purchases eligible for $300, does that mean you earn points on $29,700 still, or would it try to ignore the entire $30kWhoa!!! My direct DVC purchase coded as "Hotels" and the CSR Business card gave me 4x points!!! That's $1000 in extra points on top of the crazy perks I already got with the card:
- 200,000 points sign up bonus (requires $30k spend)
- $300 travel credit
- 132,000 points earned on the purchase at 4x
- $100 in giftcards per year
Based on the 2.1 cents per point max redemption value, that's about $7k in points. It's $3320 in cash back, which would be more than 10% of the total cost!
Do you also have the CSR Business card? Did this code differently for you?Dang! I just put my dues and my pay off of my contract on my existing CSR thinking it would never code as a hotel. Bummer! But thats awesome for you!
I didn't need to. It had already applied a few travel charges, so only $260 was left. Then when I made the initial DVC payment, it went through in one $xx,xxx.xx chunk but the rewards log shows it split the rest of the $260 out, refunded it, and gave me 4x points on the rest of the charged amount. Pretty awesome.Do you have to split the charges for the $300? Is it worth doing this compared to gift cards? Right now we just pay for all of our dining and dues with Disney gift cards to get 5%One reason that we like to charge our WDW dining, merchandise, etc. to the resort account and pay it with our CC is that the total codes as Travel. It isn’t broken down into other categories.
Well, on our most recent visit we paid mostly with DGCs then just a small balance with the CC. Next trip I’ll probably try buying DGCs via Target just before checkout to cover the bill - is that your hack that I read on another forum? We just caught onto the Target CC discount a few years ago!Is it worth doing this compared to gift cards? Right now we just pay for all of our dining and dues with Disney gift cards to get 5%![]()
Some cards get 3-4x points on travel that can then be redeemed for ~2x that, so 6-8% all in. Anything that codes as dining or travel I go that route. Normal merch, annual dues, etc. I typically use a Disney gift card. But sometimes I get 10%+ off on gift cards so that can change the strategy. Is it worth doing this compared to gift cards? We buy in bulk whenever we see 10%+ off gift cards and start hoarding closer to the end of the year. www.giftcards.com which somehow is a legitimate website had 10% off Disney gift cards last year so I bought like 2500 worth then but I don't think I'm going to get that lucky this year. Right now we're just buying through Sams and Target.Well, on our most recent visit we paid mostly with DGCs then just a small balance with the CC. That's good to know! That's exactly what I did last year. I've got it on my calendar ("national gift card week" I think) hoping they do it again. I can't remember if there was a limit or if I just didn't want to risk it since it was my first time using them, but I also got $2500 worth and it turned out to be legitimate. If there's no limit this year, I'll buy $10,000 which will cover my dues and a good chunk of on-site spending. My only quibble is I like my spending transactions itemized and categorized (I use Monarch to pull in all my accounts) so billing things to my room and using gift cards creates some extra work. Maybe I shouldn't be so particular! Yeahhh I was pretty scared NGL LOL. But also the thing with them is they make you pay for shipping the gift cards since they're physical cards which also made me pretty skeptical but somehow they were legitimate. That's exactly what I did last year. Don't forget about the Chase Ink Preferred. It has a smaller spend threshold ($8k spend vs $30k) and smaller AF ($95 vs $795). It still codes 3x for "travel," DVC included. You can also get one for you and one for your DH by referring each other before that drops in October.I havent really paid any attention to what cards are best for dues because I planned to use DGC. I am so so behind on collecting them. I added more points so my dues are now around 10k and then we keep going to Disney and using up cards. I need some good offers this next quarter or I just may have to cave and get the CSR Biz card
Oh yes I forgot it codes as travel on Preferred. We have one already. My brain went auto mode thinking about the 4x someone got buying direct.Don't forget about the Chase Ink Preferred. The Ink Unlimited and Cash also have elevated bonuses right now which make their returns even better with $0 AF. Plus you can buy DGCs from office supply stores on the CIC for 5x coding.
I know this is old but why do you look at it this way?I have this one and I always use the $300 travel credit we get each year to cover one of my flights so I look at it as paying only $95!

The 4x is on both CSR’s but for us who already have one it won’t kick in until late in October.Oh yes I forgot it codes as travel on Preferred. We have one already. My brain went auto mode thinking about the 4x someone got buying direct.
Unfortunately my Office Stores they remove all the cards while running the $ off promo. It's so frustrating. They blame the "vendor" I actually just tried again yesterday at Office Depot.
When do you have to make the payment? With SW new biz offer if you can wait until it posts in January you would earn the CP for 2026 & 2027, the 120k bonus points plus the spend for the offer $10k would give you 130 SW miles and then grab the CIP for the rest for transfer to Hyatt and if needed SW.I know we talked about this before but if I was just trying to get the maximum point and miles for SW and Hyatt like we discussed previously would you guys recommend just having both my wife and I open up a CIP card individually and then splitting the payments for our direct contract on there?
My office max is that way but not staples. But I would like some savings which is why I prefer OD/OM and buy 3 $200 cards and hope I will also have a chase offerOh yes I forgot it codes as travel on Preferred. We have one already.
