Charley Survivors last week...a question

Me,too!! I must say that I met several cast members whose homes were in darkness, or had other problems at home. Yet, them came to work with smiles on their faces. One cast member was working at Cinderella's Royal Table and had to come to work to take a shower. I had a chance to think about them and their plight while the rest of us enjoyed a holiday. It was weird. I had to come off disney property to pick up friends at the airport, and I could see the devastation on rte 192. Most gas stations were closed. In fact, I sat in line for gasoline for 2 hours. Some Disney employees couldn't get to work, so others did "double duty". You could tell that they weren't as familiar with things as would normally be expected. Yet, it did not detract from our trip at all. Everything was up and running at 9 a.m. Saturday mornnig after the hurricane hit. Some of my friends were scheduled to go home on Sunday, but their flight was cancelled and they wound up staying until Tuesday. They looked upon it as an extended vacation. Kudos to Pop Century for not only extending their stay, but giving them back their same room!
To prepare for hurricanes, bring extra $$$ just in case; but don't worry. Thank you to all the castmembers who suffered through that terrible storm and made everyone else feel as though nothing had happened. I, for one, truly appreciated your efforts.

I agree with what the PPs have said. We were staying in the Contemporary tower during the storm and felt Disney did a fantastic job before, during, and after the storm. On any trip, hurricane or not, we take a flashlight and batteries, small first aid kit, etc. so we were glad to have those things though thankfully we never had to use them. I did wish we had more snack foods other than candy in the room as all food services closed down by late afternoon, and though the CR very generously planned to provide a free buffet dinner for all in the evening, the food ran out quickly and they shut down early anyhow because the storm was approaching so we went without supper that night. Not a big deal, but I wished I'd have bought some better snacks to keep the kids happy that evening. We were so thankful to have power and water, which was not the case when we rode out a hurricane in a hotel room elsewhere last year!

Have a great trip!

We woke up at 4:00 am and saw Charlie was going to hit so we switched to plan B.

I booked a flight to LA and we went to DisneyLand.

The weather was perfect and we had no problems at all.

Too often we forget about DL and only think about WDW.
