If this is not in the right area please feel free to move it...

But how does charging to your room work? Is your room key linked to your credit card? Can you pay cash when you check in and just use that?

Just wondering if it would be more useful to carry the cash around everyday or just charge to the room and have it taken from the credit card/cash?

Thanks!

you link your room card to a credit card. All charges are charged to it on check out.

Charging stuff to your room key is the best thing about Disney (ok, not the best... but one of them). The charges just go to your hotel bill and you can opt to pay it by cash, credit card or both. It's totally worth using it instead of cash (that you can lose, etc). But yo probably should carry a few bucks in case (the ice cream stands usually don't all take the room key). So I would definitely say get the room charge option on your room key.

you can give them cash or cc when you check in and use your room card. This past May, our cm checking us in (POFQ) had never had a guest want to give cash at check-in to put on their card towards future purchases... he thought we couldn't do it. I had to urge him to go ask his manager, as we had done it before and unless they changed the rules, i knew we could do it. He came back telling us he learned something new that day. I love not carrying too much cash and just charging to the room card.

If you plan on going to the water parks, plan on taking cash. Not all the food locations accept the DDP, credit cards or the room ID to charge to the room.

Thanks everyone! I'm so scatterbrained some days that being able to charge to the room would be a good thing! The only thing I would then hope for is not to lose my room key! LOL

Even if you lose the room key, it can easily be replaced. I left a room key in a fast pass machine once. When I realized my mistake, I went to the front desk at the resort and had a new room key in just a few minutes.

When you make a purchase at a park on day 1, does is charge that day or do the charges add up and charge on the last day on vacation?

THanks,

Gabe

Gabe, AtoZgirl answered your question. All the charges add up and you pay for them when you check-out. They don't get deducted as soon as you make the purchase. They add up, so be careful and keep tabs on what your charging so it's not a BIG surprise upon check out. :scared:

They charge to the credit card the last day of vacation, unless you exceed the limit before then, in which case, with your authorization, they charge to the credit card at that point and you start up again charging against the limit.

Is there a way to link different credit cards to different keys staying in the same room?
I want my room key linked to my cc but by no means do i want my sisters room key linked to mine too.
I know that you can choose what room keys you want on the cc but is there a way to do mulitple cc for multiple keys?
Sorry if i confused anyone i seem to ramble.

You can only link one CC to a room. You can go and pay down you tab during the week, with cash or a different card.
The only other thing you could do, is not have charging privileges on her card and just on yours.

I have a couple questions about putting cash on your KTTW.
1. If you put more money on your key than you need do they just give you back the balance at check out?
2. If you go over the amount on the card what happens?

That seems counter-intuitive! The last place I want to carry cash (which is made of paper, last time I checked  ) around is a water park where I will get soaked! :headache: Credit cards and room keys are at least moderately water proof. Needing cash means you need a locker... oh wait, now I get it. The Disney-squeezes-money-from-the-best-of-us machine rearing it's ugly head. :rotfl:

At many water parks I've been to, they give you the option of buying pre-paid wrist bands with rip-off cash increments ($1, $5, etc) does Disney do anything like this? I was hoping to not have to use cash for my whole trip (at the very least Disney Dollars, but this doesn't solve the wet issue. :sad2: )

Sorry, no. The only wrist band they have is for photos. The locations where they only take cash are small.

We generally put a credit card on the room for charges and then the night before check out I stop at the front desk, get a read out of the charges, check it for accuracy and then write a check. If we charge anything from that point it is minimal and we still get express check out.

We always use the room charge for the simple reason that the room card can be replaced IMMEDIATELY if lost or stolen, or compromised in some way.

It takes a minimum of 24 hours for a CC or Check Card to be replaced. It also keeps your credit card put away and not flashed all over WDW. Only one person at the "world" sees your card.
