Charge question

So we are going to Disney in October of next year and will be getting a 1 bedroom suite at AKL. We will have 3 adults and 1 child (6). So my question is, do they charge the child for staying in the resort? I'm trying to figure out how to split the resort cost. Should I split it 4 ways (and include the child) OR should I split it 3 ways among the adults?

Thoughts ...

Any person over 3 is charged. I would go on the Disney website and price the package out both ways. I think the charge for persons under 9 is less money.

Under age 18 is not considered an adult for room purposes, and they are free in the room with paying adults. They count toward total occupancy for fire codes, but not for pricing.

Tickets and dining plans have different "adult ages". You will see children ages 10 - 17 referred to as "juniors" in Disneyspeak, meaning not adults for the room count but as adults for tickets and meals. "Child" means ages 3 - 9 and a child's rate for everything.

Thanks y'all. We have annual passes so the tickets prices aren't a question, just trying to figure out a fair way to split the room cost :) :).

Thanks for the input!

She counts towards the room occupancy and will take up space and use the same facilities as the adults. That being said, whomever is stuck on the full sized pull out sofa bed should likely pay less than whomever gets the bedroom with the king sized bed. Also, if you're at Kidani then the people in the bedroom also get the ensuite bathroom with the jacuzzi tub.

Good point. Last year we stayed in a 2 bedroom at Old Key West. We had 4 adults and 1 5 year old. So I divided the total by 5. So the child was the same as the adults.

An interesting way of dividing the charges. We travel with friends, so I usually just figure out the cost for the room we would have gotten without them (either a studio or a 1 bedroom) to the cost of the room we got because they came (a 1 or 2 bedroom). Whatever the market rate of the difference in cost is (eg. 10 DVC point difference between a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom= $100/night) I ask the friends who are not part of my household to pick up between them ... so if its a couple and a single (our best friend, his brother and his wife) the couple puts in $70, the single puts in $30 since he doesn't have his own bedroom and sleeps on the couch.
