My daughter is packing to leave on the 10th and will be a character performer. She knows that she will have to take classes the first week. What type of clothing should she bring for these classes (professional clothes like they wear for the Traditions class or workout clothes?) and what will she need to bring to wear under her costume when she works each day? Also, what kind of shoes will be best for her role? Thanks for your help!

She will need four days of professional clothing. One day is traditions, which she can wear a skirt or open toed/open back shoes. However, the other three days will be her character training, she MUST wear pants that she can move easily in and her shoes must be both closed toe AND closed heel. For two of those three character days she will actually be asked to wear athletic shoes with her dress clothes... yes, it seems weird, but she'll start moving that first day she joins her character training.

As for day to day dress... Disney will provide all clothing for her... I would recommend sport bras over regular bras (and obviously underwear), but everything else (including socks) will come from Disney. She will be required to wear her own athletic shoes... it doesn't matter at all how they look, just something that she would wear to a gym is fine.

The nice thing about being a performer is that we wear our regular clothing (sweats, jeans, etc). to work and change once we arrive. The only downside is that we have to get to work early everyday in order to have time to change.

If she has any other questions, I encourage her to read my blog - I actually talked about clothing and what to expect in a typical day, etc.

Tell her she'll have a great time! My last day as a CP was today and had a great time!

I just visited your blog. We are also from Iowa, but my daughter is a Cyclone at ISU. We have many friends who attend Wartburg. Wonderful information. I will definately have her read about your college program experience. Thanks for the info. She'll be sure to pack lots of sports bras!!!!!

A Cyclone - ME TOO!!! I got my undergrad from Wartburg, but my masters from ISU - I liked ISU better than Wartburg so I consider myself more a Cyclone than Knight. My nametag says Iowa State University! I love meeting with fellow Iowans down here, let her know that she can contact me through my blog and if she has any questions or just wants to meet up with another Iowan I'd love to help her out!
