could anyone let me know what the character meet and greets are like in DLP one of the main reasons we like WDW so much is all the characters you can meet so how does this compare to DLP because I have looked online and there only seems to be about 8 meet locations

also what characters are there

As well as the advertised meet and greets at various locations, there are some characters wandering around the parks too. I think this varies a lot though as some people don't see any, and others see lots.

I think this may change in future with the introduction of Photo Pass Plus, from what I've read there will be more photographers around the park to encourage use of this, so I assume this may mean more characters too :confused3

Last visit in the Studios we saw Mulan, Woody, Jessie, Aladdin, Jasmine, Mary Poppins, Bert, Buzz, Minnie. In the main park, Duffy (I think he may be going soon), Mickey - at the meet mickey location, Captain Hook, Mr Smee. We are not character hunters though, so I'm sure we missed loads more.

Are queues still in use for all character meet and greets throughout the park including random unannounced ones?

I would like to know how the unannounced character meets work too. In the past it's been a nightmare to meet a character in that way - a total scrum and at times I've feared for my children. How do they organise a queue for this type of thing?

When we were there in Feb there were queues for all characters and the CM with each character just made people queue. It worked brilliantly! I didn't see a single scrum.

Ooh that sounds so much better. I am pleased that eventually DLRP listened to feedback about this area. It just got way too dangerous! Honestly, I'd rather queue for an hour than be in a scrum with the girls.

Hope you are enjoying planning your trip - will be here before we know it! :goodvibes

Just returned few days ago. Some unannounced meets were well organised, Peter pan and Wendy as you come out of fantasyland, queues, no pushing etc. others were free for all, minders telling people to make a circle, no queue and then doing nothing as people shoved their way through.... Hmmm mixed bag!
However stars n cars, for me was huge let down. This appears to now be an organised scrum....a rope to make a giant circle, the characters then move round and everyone shoves books in faces and photos, smoking and tripping over buggies etc. Not the best!!

Hmmm - sounds a mixed bag. I simply won't put my children through it again and as much as it upsets them if they want to meet a character, I can explain now and they understand. As it happens, we are going for Halloween so I think queuing up for the organised characters will take us most of our time anyway, and I know that will be the ones they would like to meet, so probably not an issue for us this trip! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to meet Maleficent - if we meet no-one but her, I am sure we'll still all be happy. Issue is, I am sure 1000s of others feel the same way :rotfl2:.

aw thats pants :( - we went in April and it was brill - all the characters came walking out, then they each had a spot around the stage/cinemagique entrance etc, then you queued for each character you wanted. It was so great to see and be a part of compared to the old scrums, why on earth did they change that?

With you on the pants!!- we went in March/April time and it was perfect. I suppose you could in theory see more. Then do 4 sets, so more times.....so you could think on paper it's a great idea....except it doesn't work that way!! Plus no parade- errrr missing something there!!

Absolutely no idea. It changed on one of the days we were there in June. At 12 o'clock they came out and formed queues and we got to see Minnie and Daisy. I decided to wait until the next time they came out at 1 and was waiting where Woody and Jessie had queued earlier but a CM came over to those of us who were queuing and said it was all in the circle now. We did get to meet Woody but it just didn't work after that - the pushing and shoving scared me witless - even the fact that my sister was in a wheelchair didn't prevent people trying to push in front of her. We tried again on our last day and got a couple more autographs but had to leave when the shoving got too bad.

I hear they now at least have a roped off disabled area so maybe we will be able to go back to this in December - I wouldn't even try otherwise.

Thry changed it because apparently the concept of queuing is alien to some people and there were people walking up and just standing next to characters and getting photos done. Effectively photobombing and it took ages for them the move. The queues complained when guest with disabilities cut them, and there were to many complaints.

We stood in the disabled area and it was fabulous. Characters took their time to sign, photos are odd with a rope in them but there were MANY people who were running under the roped off disabled area to get photos :-( The CM's are VERY strict though and sent them back, while getting verbal abuse!
