My boyfriend and I are going to WDW in October, and although it may seem like a long time from now, I'm sure you'll all agree that you can never start making plans too early for a WDW trip! :earsgirl:

So hopefully some seasoned veterans can help me out here... Character meals seem to be the big thing to do if you're travelling with children, but what if you're just travelling with adults? I'd like to hear (or read) some stories about adults braving the character meals... Please? :Pinkbounc

Character meals are NOT just for kids!!! DH and I did a character meal on our first trip in 1999, and we had a great time! The characters came over to our table and posed for pictures with us, just as they did with every other table. And we were not the only people there without children.

As a matter of fact,we (4 women, ages 25 to 50-something) will be having breakfast with Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and , my favorite, Eeyore, on Monday morning!!!

I've done 2 Character breakfasts (adults only both times) and they were a blast!!! First was in Dec @ Tony's and second was this past Monday @ CP. Both had Pooh characters (my fav) and the characters spent as much time with us as with the kids!!! :p

For my 47th birthday last September my mother and I went to 1900 PF. This was my 6th visit to WDW but my first time at a character meal. We had a blast. Took pictures and played with them all. I even asked Alice if she knew the poem The Jabberwocky. In a very saucy voice she asked me if I did. Well, needless to say I found myself standing up in the middle of the restaurant and reciting said poem to one and all.

My daughter (age 21) and I eat at character meals every trip and love most of them. Our favorite is Donald's breakfast at Animal Kingdom. We always go on a day that does not have early entry and call way ahead and get the earliest possible priority seating time. Then we get in the park an hour early, have a fantastic breakfast (and it is great!!!!) and are already in the park, done eating and ready to hit the attractions when the rest of the guests are only being left in. The only problem is getting my daughter away from the cinnamon french toast. Last time she went back five times for more. She could barely walk. Said it was the best she ever had. And the characters play with the adults as much as the people with kids. I have loads of pictures to prove it. Go and enjoy!

My DW and I do character meals all the time -- and we have no kids! Don't let that stop you! Here are some of my experiences:

Chef Mickeys -- characters here will stop by, but at adult-only tables they seem to spend less time. CM seems geared more for interaction with kids. There was an exception once: Dale spent several minutes "signing" (sign language) with me. I am not that good, so it took a few tries for me to get the "message." That was a lot of fun!

1900 Park Fare -- great character interaction with Pooh, Tigger and Eeyore. They all spent a lot of time with us.

Cape May Cafe (b'fast) -- another great place. We always have a blast with Goofy, Chip & Dale. Goofy is always hamming it up with DW and she eats it up. Plus a GREAT breakfast buffet to boot.

GO! Have fun! Everyone is a kid at Disney!!

DBF and I ( early 30's) did our first character meal last march at Crystal Palace. We absolutely loved it.
The characters spent as much time with us as with the children. Eeyore even picked on my bf a little
This year we are doing CRT and Crystal palace again !!!
Definitely do at least one character meal. I had a smile pasted on my face for the rest of the day !!

Thanks for all your comments! I think I may have to try at least one character meal during my trip. Heck, it's Disney after all! :earseek:

We always do two or three character meals each trip. We (2 adults) always get plenty of time with the characters, in fact at Hollywood & Vine a few years ago Chip was with us ton. He kept comming back every few minutes... (we told him we had Hazel Nut Coffee).

Our favorite is Donalds Breakfast @ AK. Not only do you get the Donald, Mickey etc. the CM are a riot. They are "university students" and really stay in character.

Another perk for us anyway is if we fill up at a character breakfast, we only need a lighter meal later in the day. You really get filled up/fueled up for a buzy day.

DH and I (also no kids) have done several character meals (1900 PF and Chef Mickey's) and this March we'll be going to CRT for the first time. We enjoy seeing the characters - and it's also fun to watch the kids...we don't plan on always being kid-less!

DH & I took our niece in May and did the Character Breakfast at Cape May. When planning for our January trip, DH asked which Character meal we were having. I told him since it was just us I didn't have one planned. His response? "You mean I don't get to eat with Goofy?" I quickly added dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern. The food was very good & DH had a great time with Goofy! We will definately do at least one Character meal each trip from now on.

Definately go to a character meal! My mom and I did the Cape May breakfast. This was her first experience with a character meal and she loved it! Goofy spent a lot of time flirting with her and both Chip and Dale made several trips to our table. DH and I also did the Land for dinner one night on our honeymoon. All the characters spent time taking pictures with us. It was great!!

It's only been DH & I (DH-34, me -26) traveling for the past 3 years. We always go to Crystal Palace for breakfast - awesome food!!! Chef Mickey's is another good one. Avoid MGM's Hollywood & Vine. We have not done any lunch or dinner character meals so I really can't comment on them.

We alway's do character meal's (DH and I) The character's are there to have fun with everyone - and they do!!
