Has anyone seen a character "not in character" ive heard stories where a woman once was behind Chip and all of a sudden blonde hair came right out of Chips neck. Its funny to hear of character goofs. POST YOURS!

In 14 trips to WDW, I have never seen a character "Not in character". Even when assulted by children and grown-ups for that matter, I have never seen one break character.

On a side note, next year I am planning on taking 2-3 full days and doing a thesis like character study on how these characters "perform" daily. I have always wanted to do this noting actions, gestures, and everything that makes each character "unique".

Tink Mick... you were right i dont know what i was thinking ;) . Have a Magical Day :wizard:

This past trip at 1900 Park Fare, there was something bothering Cinderella. She kept on apologizing to a family. Then she was not in character after that. She was like "oh, my God, like sorry guys" since she almost didnt greet us at our table. I like when they show their real selves occasionally, at least for us since we are Adults only.

Oh my! I'm glad you started this thread! I am going to put this in my trip report...but wasnt going to say anything otherwise...but now I have to share.
BF and I were in Animal Kingdom and went to the character connection back by the lion king show.
Goofy was really hamming it up-trying to get kids to dance with him, putting his hands in front of their faces -when the photo pass guy said "Goofy, I can't see the kids!" Goofy just pointed to his face as to say he was the important one in the photo...he was our best character interaction...
Well, the above stories are about other peoples kids...BF and I dont have any...So, to see how these characters interact with adults is always fun...and Goofy was the best!
I went up to hug him...and he wouldnt let me go...AT ALL. Photopass guy told BF to get in the photo so, BF is laughing and Goofy wasnt having BF get the girl...BF is really great about just getting the shot and letting the kids get in for interaction (I guess he feels like we are really guests in their world...now you see why i love him!) Well, Goofy wasnt giving up...So, BF tells him that he better be careful b/c I have to go to the bathroom. So, Goofy takes my hand and we head off torward the bathroom. So, BF comes up behind us and says "Goofy be careful...she might dribble on you." well, Goofy lost it! You know that stiffled laugh like when you're just about ready to bust out laughing but you cover it up with your hand?? Thats excatly what happened. It took him a moment to recover...but he was laughing pretty hard...It gave us a great memory

(sorry this is so long)

i made launchpad fall over and laugh rolling around the ground on mainstreet. however I'm friends with launchpad so we had a bunch of inside jokes to share that caused it. I've also heard of a time where baloo was taking a picture with three guys and they suddenly picked him up and dropped him hard on purpose. He knocked out two of them right there in mainstreet and chased the other one all the way to tomorrowland.

What do you mean "character"??? They are REAL!!!! When I walk through those gates, it all becomes real.............. :goodvibes

I am almost 40........I will never give up on the MAGIC

Yes! Peter Pan and Wendy across from Pirates having a most un-childlike discussion about Peter Pan's evening before. I was standing there looking at them within a few feet. Their handler wasn't paying attention as the park was dead and dd and I were just stunned. I did one of these :confused3 to them, and they snapped out of it. DD5 was not buying it. She was annoyed looking in the pictures and just walked away generally disappointed. She asked where the "real" Peter Pan and Wendy were. Oh well, the rest of the characters have been great!

One time, I was by myself with Aurora and her handler in France, (there was nobody else around at all,) and I was asking the handler if he knew if certain other characters were out, where they'd be, etc. Well, Aurora piped up that so and so would be somewhere, but that wasn't "out of character," since they're real, and I just assume she knew since she was friends with whoever we were looking for.

So not "out of character," but that's the closest that I've seen.

I hope you post that here, (or at least a summary,) I would love to read your observations. :)

I understand (this is pure heresay, and I wasn't there) it was posted on this board years ago, that during the 3 p.m. parade, some of the 7 dwarves got in a fist fight, and were swinging at each other--one of them got knocked off the float and fell into the crowd! :rolleyes1

I don't know if it is a goof up.... but Mrs Incredible spoke to my nieces. "Oh thank you" normally character's in masks do not talk. Frozone and Mr Incredible did not talk. Like Genie, Minnie sometimes giggles but no words... My nieces thought it was weird. :dance3:

My DW, DS, and I were dining at the Castle. As we were leaving my wife went to the ladies room and DS and I were going to meet her outside, we ran into Jasmine in the lobby and she was flirting with me - not the Disney Princess type of flirting. The DW thought I was making it up, but I had it all on video! DW hates Jasmine now by the way (lol)!

when we were at Chef Mickey's for dinner last year, Chip literlary pushed DF ou of his chair to sit next to me. his family thought it was funny, he wasn't too thrilled with it.

Sorry if this takes all the magic away, but when our marching band went, we got to go backstage. Talk about strange! Characters with no heads on. Floats being set up. Locker rooms, etc. Not really a goof up, but just another perspective.

Last Christmas morning at the Poly,Mickeys head was comming out of his costume.(Mickey has a neck peice that keeps the head in place. Well the neck part was comming apart.)I went up and told his character attendant.Mickey all of a sudden had to go check the kitchen!:rotfl: When Mickey came back out,I got a great big hug and kiss! Plus a big peice of cake!(not my b-Day)I think it was a thank you gift.:thumbsup2

Are the CM's with the characters really called 'handler's'? :confused3
That sounds so savage.

I think they are called escorts. My friend wanted me to post this for her. We were at MGM and I had to stop and get a picture wil Kim Possible and Ron Stopable. I got my picture and walked away well my friend had to stay and of course hit on Ron asking him if his eyes were really that blue or if they were contacts and apparently he opened his eye and showed her they were not contacts. And on our way down the street Ron Stopable yelled "I love you" to my friend. I don't think he really came out of charater but he was close.

The other day we were walking through Fantasyland as Pooh passed in front of us to head backstage. They walked through a set of doors and passed another CM on the way out, who obviously opened the door completely back up. Instead of making sure the door was closed, I looked over and the CM escorting was already undoing Pooh's back as the door was wide open. Luckily no kids by us looking in, but they'd have had a clear, wide open shot of Pooh stripping down if there had been.
