Character Dining on Meal Plan?

We didn't do the DDP on our last trip but our next trip will be during free dining banana. We'll be staying at a value so can pay the extra $40 per day to upgrade from QS to DDP (2 adults and one child).

I assumed we would upgrade for the character meals but when I just checked the WDW website, it looks like the character meals don't accept the dining plan at all. Is this a new thing? I looked at Cinderella's Castle, Akershus, 1900, Chef Mickey and the Crystal Palace. Maybe I'm not remembering this correctly but I swear the last time I looked at this on the WDW website, the character meals were 2 meal credits.

Is there any character dining that is on the meal plan?

I'm thinking now that we won't upgrade at all if we would have to pay out of pocket for the character dining anyway.

All of those restaurants are still on the dining plan. There is another thread about that on these boards now. Apparently It's some kind of glitch in the system.

And just so you can do your credit math correctly, only Cinderella's Castle is 2 credits. All the others you have listed are only one credit.
