Character Breakfast: pls help me decide

Wow, we had the opposite experience each time we have eaten at Tusker's for breakfast (3-4xs) We were seated right away. Never had an issue with the food dishes being empty at the buffet. Good service, don't really remember any negatives at all. The food wasn't our favourite but it wasn't bad. Our two kids like the character experiences at Tusker's because you get to get up and interact with the characters and not just for pictures. The last two times we were there, they passed out musical instruments and the kids formed a conga line playing music together with the chracters and then dancing in the middle. They did a similar line at the Poly with Stitch and Lilo.

And what you say is why we did it. All the posts I read said how awesome it a was, very few complaints (which were subjective). Everything seemed to be really rushed by everyone including the characters. The kitchen also seemed to be focused on only preparing items for lunch and not putting anything else out for breakfast. Our waiter was difficult to find and it took forever to pay the bill.

We have done Ohana's breakfast and I understand what they do there which is awesome (we loved Ohana's) however none of that magic was present at Tusker House last Friday am. We have also done CRT, Chef Mickey's, Royal Table at Epcot, Crystal Palace, and others over the last 5 years, so it is not like we are newbies at this.

I just wanted to point out a recent experience, and to be wary. Also note it was an EMH day.

Never been to Chef Mickey, going next trip. But we really liked Ohana. Mickey, Pluto, Stitch and Lilo. Stitch is fun and different. Dont' see him often in the parks. The food was pretty good and it is served family style so you don't have to get up to go to the buffet and then run back because the characters are coming.

We had a great lunch and dinner at Crystal Palace. The food is great. The characters were fun and all come one after the other. And they do a parade around the restaurant. If the boys wanted to meet all of these pooh characters, it would be hard to do in the parks. I've only seen 1 or 2 of them outside of the Pooh ride. Here you get Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore.

Both places are must dos on our list now.

Another vote for O'hana. We were there three weeks ago with grandkids 4yr and 8yr. Both loved it. The food was delicious and it was a nice change to have it brought to us. We have been to Chef Mickey's twice in the past with good experiences - but I think I enjoyed O'hana better.

I am also one who would opt to NOT do CP. We have not had good experiences there for either breakfast or dinner. If Pooh characters are an interest to the family I would go with 1900 PF (Pooh, Tigger, Alice, Madhatter, Mary Poppins or the usual characters).

If Pooh is not important I would agree with just about everyone else with either Donald's Breakfast Safari at TH in AK or CM. We like Donald's better but we usually try to fit both into our trips.

I would suggest Chef Mickey, O'Hana or Cape May. I think those characters would appeal to boys.

another vote for Chef Mickey or 'Ohana....'Ohana is our favorite, they bring the food to you (all you care to eat) and like Chef Mickey's, when you are done just take the monorail over to MK:thumbsup2

I would say ask the kids who their fav characters are and go from there. We have eaten breakfast at Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Ohana, Hollywood and Vine and Tusker House. I have enjoyed all of them. I feel the characters are more rushed at Chef Mickey's. Pooh and friends are always wonderful to me, but they are my favs, but they are slow. Ohana is a great atmosphere, and I think the adults would really like it. Tusker House is good, but last time, since Donald is outside, there were only 3 characters inside, I think. Hollywood and Vine, food just okay, but it has different characters that you won't see elsewhere. Supposedly Oso is there now, and that is the only place I've heard that you can see him. So if the kids are into Playhouse Disney, that would be the place. That's why I say just ask the kids.

Tusker House is by far our favorite breatkfast. Smaller restaurant so less people to fight through.

We love Crystal Palace and Tusker House.

To the person who had a walk up get in before you, were you the same party size? That could be the difference.

My vote goes to 'Ohana. You can take the bus to the MK, and then get the monorail or boat to the Poly. Take the monorail or boat back to the MK.

At 'Ohana, the food is brought to your table so it's much more relaxing than a buffet. All of the character meals we've been to, including 'Ohana, have a fun parade for kids during the meal. They'll see Mickey, Pluto, Stitch, and Lilo.

My 2nd recommendation is Tusker House. Good food, fun safari characters.
