So am I a mean mom if I don't do some sort of character dining for my one year old boy. We are doing CRT for my 5 year old girl. My husband says not to bother because he won't remember. I am now starting to have second child slited guilt. Any help is appriciated.

Our DD is only 18 months old and between our two trips to WDW and one trip to DL, she's been to at least 15 character meals. Sure, she won't remember them, but the pictures we have are priceless!

Does your DD only enjoy princesses? Won't she also enjoy another character meal, if you book one with the "furry" characters? I know our DD prefers to cuddle up to characters like Chip and Dale, so your DS might like that too. Crystal Palace is great for Pooh and friends and Lilo and Stitch are now appearing at the Ohana breakfast. Garden Grill is another choice to see Mickey and friends and there's a lot of other meals to choose from too.

Amy :)

Won't the one-year old be with you at CRT anyway? I agree with your husband that at that age he won't remember (or probably even care). He may even be scared by the large characters.

He may not remember it, but for the time I'm sure that it would be fun for him.
And if your doing CRT then won't he do that one also? And plus you get all those cute pictures of him with cinderella.

I am a firm believer that we Mom's get the guilt trip thing WAY TOO OFTEN, so don't even go there with me! :teeth:

But......my son was 20 months (not sure if your son is closer to 1 or to 2) when we went to Crystal Palace. I wasn't sure how he would do with the characters. He LOVED THEM! And I don't mean just love, he wouldn't let go of their legs, he was hugging them so much. I felt bad for the last table (we were next to last and the last seating of the night........this is a great tip!) because my family (mainly my son) hogged all the characters like they were there to only see him. I kept saying, "Nate, ........honey, let go,.......this little girl wants to see Pooh, too." :rotfl:

The pictures, but mainly the video, we have of this is utterly priceless! When we play it now (he is almost 6) he gets a big kick out of it.

Worth the price? Definate YES!
An absolute MUST-DO? (especially if he has never gone before so he doesn't know what he is missing?) No.

A parent never knows how their child will react to the characters, so it could be a bust. But you might want to try it if you have the funds to spend on it.

Sorry, I guess I didn't help much with your dilema! :wave2:

We took my dd to MK when she was nine months old. My parents were saying the same thing. "It's a waste! She won't remember it!" Let me tell you something...I'm glad my parents were there to see her! She LOVED IT! Every second of it! She was squealing during the parades and Dopey came and gave her a kiss...we have it on tape and she still loves to watch it. She's almost 4 now and we're planning her FOURTH trip for next year.

As for a character meal? I highly advise Chef Mickey's. It's colorful, a lot of fun, and true DISNEY at it's best. Make sure to tell them when you make your ADR that it's your son's birthday.

Thanks for all of the feedback. If I did do a character meal for him we would have to give up dinner at O'hanas. I read such fun things about that restraunt I don't really want to give it up. Or the other thing we could do is pay out of pocket for a lunch. Maybe I should be happy with what I have. ;)
Monday 12:00 CRT
Tuesday 5:oo Coral Reef ( I figured ds would like the fish)
Wednesday 5:00 Boma
Thursday 5:00 O Hana
Friday 5:00 Marakesh
If anybody has any other suggestions please feel free to share!
Thanks in advance

Yes my son will be with us at CRT

My 1 year old (she is now 2) hated them when we took her to a character breakfast. She cried and screamed till they left the table. As a result we don't do character dining.

We took our son a week after he turned one. We did some character meals and he really loved them. He got to march around with Winnie the Pooh at Crystal Palace breakfast, and we got the whole thing on video. The video and pictures, in my opinion, are priceless. He really loved the characters too! Not scared at all! We are going in December, and I am interested to see if he will be shy or scared of them, now that he is two.
I personally love character dinners, and have done them for years, even before we had children, so going to them now that we have kids is just a given I guess.
