Character Autograph Book Alternatives?

One year we took square pieces of cloth for the characters to sign, then we made a quilt out of it. That way my girls can keep warm with all their Disney friends. :goodvibes

Oh my gawsh!! That is far too cute. What did you use to sign it? Did it hold up well?

I made a photobook out of pictures I'd taken with the characters and had the characters sign their pictures for my nieces.

Another idea would be to get one of those insulated mugs that is designed for personalizing with pictures and have the characters sign the template instead of printing a picture on it. Or print a pale version of the castle or other park icon that you like and have the characters sign that.

You could have the characters sign a hat.

This isn't my idea - I've seen it on the cruise boards. You could have the characters sign a photo mat. Make sure you tape a quarter inch around the edge, so the signatures won't be hidden by the frame, though. Another cruise board idea is to have the characters sign a pillowcase.

I've done drawings for the characters last year.

Hope that's visible, my scanner is crap.

Not sure if you'd try your hand on something like that, but until that class at Animation Academy in 2009 I always thought I failed Arts Class with a reason.

Don't mean to hijack OP, but I'm appreciating all the creative ideas people are sharing! :)

I'm a scrapbooker and have made a few autograph books for my nieces over the years. What I do is buy a spiral book of index cards and take that and a big marker with us to DL. We have the characters sign on the unlined side of the index card. It's nice to have the spiral one so that you just flip to the next one. When we get home, I buy a 6x6 or 8x8 scrapbook and do the picture on one side and the autograph on the other. I use stickers and such to embellish the pages. Here are a few of the ones I've done:

tlovesdis..... what size index cards are you having them sign on that are that big AND that are spiral bound??? Thanks! :)

Canvas sackpack or child's backpack with waterproof markers, and shelac the signature to waterproof them. I've also seen a child's disney jacket(the one with shiny material) that's been covered with Disney signatures. Baseball caps on guys. Posters are used during Star Wars Weekends for celebrities to sign, why not a Disney Princess/Character 16 x 20 poster to sign? Buy one at Disney, retain the receipt, get it signed, then have them send it to the resort so you won't have to carry it around.

Did you have something to stretch the cloth when they sign it?

I bought a 6x6 scrapbook album for $5 at Walmart. I am doing a scrapbook autograph album with a photo of my daughter and the character on 1 page and the autograph on the adjoining blank page. If a page is not done yet, I will have the character sign a blank page and then add the scrapbook page for next time. I scrapbook digitally so after each trip I will update the photopage, but you could also do a permanent scrapped page with a photo you can replace after each trip.

SEe that sounds like a good idea to me. I'm gonna see what I can find at AC Moore or Michaels with my 40% and 50% off coupons I get weekly.

not sure if this helps but we got autograph books from the walmart in anaheim for $1.99. the kids then were able to go around and give their books to the characters (they for some reason loved being the ones to hand it to them!)

Now that we're back, I'm putting the autographs and pictures in a photo album i bought there for each kid (4.99 each) so the pic is next to the autograph.

I would love to do this, but I'm not sure how to go about it. Does anyone have any thoughts about what we would need? An embroirdery loop maybe?

maybe use a clip board and tape down one end. Maybe you can try things at home before you go to the park and see what works.

You might also try to do multiple squares on a clip board and see how that goes.

Maybe find a shorter clip board instead of the usual size

The quilt would be cool, would love to hear more about that. I have always loved the scrapbooking idea but just am not very creative, however I do love the vinylmation idea, any idea where you can buy one of those?:goodvibes
